With the third international break of the season upon us, we’re afforded time to assess the leading contenders in the Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a variety of games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League,Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team, there’s plenty to catch up on.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Jon Mjelde surged to the top of our Scout League – and 20th in the overall rankings – by way of a 64-point haul this Gameweek. His decision to captain Romelu Lukaku paid dividends, while Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane also found the target. Although all four of Jon’s midfielders drew blanks, clean sheets from David de Gea, Virgil van Dijk and Aleksandar Kolarov bolstered his score.

Despite posting 60 points (15 above the average), Mark Kalafatas was displaced from the top spot following the last round of fixtures. The 29th-ranked manager opted for a 3-5-2 set-up, deploying Vardy and Lukaku as his strike partnership. Manuel Lanzini (1% ownership) proved to an excellent differential, while Mesut Ozil carded a handy eight points.

Samuel Slennet – who sat at the summit when we last penned a leagues round-up – sits in third place by virtue of a 57-point Gameweek. Samuel was rewarded for handing Vardy the skipper’s armband and also profited from Jack Butland’s and Daryl Janmaat’s shut-out points.

Amassing 72 points, Chris Rigden propelled himself into fourth place. A back four that included the likes of Butland and Scott Dann combined for 31 points. In the attacking positions, Ozil, Lukaku and Vardy (captain) brought home the bacon.

Rounding off the top five, Panna Fricker (65 points) also excelled on the defensive front after plumping for double Manchester City coverage (Bacary Sagna and Kolarov). Captain Harry Kane and Vardy complemented her defensive returns.

We’re pleased to say we sit in top spot in the League of Leagues as we look to defend our title for another season. To join this league use the code: 600-520

FPL MEMBERS SCOUT LEAGUE

Jon Mjelde is also the frontrunner in the Members League and boasts a 34-point lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Andrew Dougan retained his second spot from last Gameweek with a tally of 48 points. Although his Alexis Sanchez captaincy failed to hit the mark, Vardy, Lukaku, Butland and Kolarov came up trumps.

Third-place Marsel Levi was left frustrated by Wilfried Bony’s early withdrawal but still managed to accrue 50 points. Beyond a Vardy captaincy, Kolarov, Ozil and De Gea were his key performers.

The curiously named Zunker 1 will have some tinkering to do in the wake of injuries to Mamadou Sakho and Dimitri Payet. Nonetheless, they notched a respectable 48 points, owing to a Lukaku captaincy and solid returns from the likes of Vardy and Marcos Rojo.

Trev Grant edged into the top five after picking up 49 points. Owning Payet and Bony thwarted his progress, but a captained Vardy, Kolarov and Chris Smalling rescued his Gameweek.

ULTIMATE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Panna Fricker’s success extends to Ultimate Fantasy Premier League ladder, where she sits in the gold-medal berth. A 60-point Gameweek elevated her to a total score of 932 – good enough for second in the overall rankings.

John Donnelly is hot on the heels of Panna with 928 points, having relinquished the top spot due to a disappointing 30-point haul. Ryan Evans slipped into third position with a score of 920, despite beating the 43-point average by five points.

Michael Wong ended this Gameweek on 915 points after tallying 63 points – no one in the top 50 surpassed that total on the weekend. Dean Howard retains a place in the top five but is now five points adrift (910) of Michael Wong.

To join this league, use the code: 1258-516.

SKY SPORTS FANTASY FOOTBALL

Alan Wood (826 points) has taken a commanding lead at the peak of the Scout League, with Mark William (792) 34 points back in second place. Jeff Payne (783) is clinging onto third by a one-point margin yet has chalked up five more goals than Alan Wood.

We currently sits in fourth spot in the league of leagues as we look to defend our crown. To join this league use the league name: FFScout and the code: 8009000

SUN DREAM TEAM

Jeff Payne (776 points) enjoys a 10-point lead at the top of the table, with Chris Smalling (93) tallying the most points among his 11-man squad. He’s profited greatly from a back five comprised entirely of Manchester United defenders, although there’s work to be done with injuries to Luke Shaw and Payet.

David O Byrne (766 points) fronts the chasing pack. Amassing 103 points, Graziano Pelle has been his star man, while Alexis Sanchez’s 87 points have also been impactful. A 23-point gap between him and Tony H. (743) has opened up, with the latter harvesting 187 points from his two-man strike partnership (Harry Kane and Pelle).

Nigel Dodds (739) has loaded up with seven of Louis van Gaal’s troops, including Wayne Rooney (104 points). He’s fending off the challenge from Tim Mongiat (738), who’s just one point adrift of fourth place and also possesses a team with a distinct Man United flavour.

What happens if Lukaku blanks in one of the next two games? Mass sales for Aguero?

id have to get in mata or coutinho price range. This will allow me lukaku and aguero.

Otherwise do you think i should get in lukaku for pelle next instead of aguero?

Still thinking about the bench boost chip. I do not see the benefit of playing it in a DGW over playing it in any given week where your weakest 4 all have great fixtures.

Unless you have more than 11 players playing twice in the DGW (near impossible I'd say), then both circumstances still have 4 single playing players on the bench making them relatively the same potential for points. So fixtures and form is the only way of maximising those 4.

I've talked myself into it. cool 🙂

All depends on how the DGWs are placed.
If there are blanks the GW before then it's a lot harder to plan for.

Wrong. It works to use your WC the week before, then use it with loads of double GW players.

This can also mean that your team is weak after the DGW...

Could easily have lots of blanks when you play your WC.

Definitely wouldnt be able to get 11+ DGW players for the one week and still be able to field a decent team the following weeks.
WC the week before a DGW yes, but then the triple captain chip is the one to play IMO.

I've planned to use it now for weeks mate. I've had 24 points on the bench for two gw's in a row, and now I want to cash in on a strong team.

(Benched Mahrez GW11 and Kane GW12. Also got Hennessey and Dann)

Yeah I will definitely do it I think. Better to do it now when they all play with good fixtures by chance then to waste a wildcard getting 15 players to do it.

Well if you think Leicester keep a CS then it's worth it. If they don't then you'll probably have failed.

Yeah I think they will. That risk (if your benched defecders will keep a cleansheet) will be the same in a DGW so I don't think I will get better than this.

Case of take it when you see it I think. Suppose we will have more of an idea of when the best time to play it is after the DGW's so we know for next season.

              Dann Kolarov Naughton (Janmaat) (Simpson)
              KdB Sanchez Mahrez Mane (Payet)
              Kane Lukaku Vardy

And the plan is to shift Payet and Janmaat to Bolasie and Bellerin

Yeah that's good. None of your attackers playing against your defence.
In a DGW you would have to use your wildcard to make that happen as well as making your team sustainable for the subsequent weeks. Better to do it now when it happens by chance.

imo the bench boost should be used in the DGW and most probably use the wildcard a week prior.... my reasoning being that for the Bench Boost chip to do well you can afford to have atleast 3 DGW players that are going to be on your bench the rest of the season....

So basically have 11 players of your choice that would have been part of a DGW say like last season.... then the players on your bench could be 4.5 keeper? 4.5 def and 5 def? 5/5.5 midf? this combination imo will get you 16points just for starting....

my valuation of the BB chip is somewhere between 30-35 points.....

Anyone other than me looking at Bolasie particulary becuase he's got an upcoming Monday match? I love having players involved at Monday's, always returns points. Hennessey, Dann and Bolasie would be great against Sunderland. And then Newcastle the next. Hard to ignore.

No matter how I look at it, the Vardy vs Mahrez decision always comes up. Thanks to the Payet injury i can ignore it(again) for a while, but sooner or later I need to make a decision or hope they keep on scoring well, which is not impossible I guess.

Problem is, keeping Vardy, means no Kane for me and as you say I'm not sure I want to settle for Eriksen.

We could expect Leicester's great run to come to an end at some stage in the near future. The double up may not be so desirable in due course. Not easy to drop one of them though or even both. Those price categories aren't exactly littered with options but I guess thats when you could consider getting yourself a cheap 8th attacker who you would bench most of the time.

No. But a 3-5-2 with Aguero and Vardy/Lukaku might outscore a 3-4-3 with four of the same mids and Kane/Vardy/Luke

Bit late into the discussion but Bain wasn't proven to not be guilty, the jury found that there was a reasonable doubt as to guilt and so he wasn't found guilty. It might seem nuanced but it's an important distinction.

We tried to sort out a way of communicating but haven't had much luck.

Hopefully our captain has things under control! Would hate to lose out because of a lack of communication.

Alli (4.9) or Davis (4.8) for my 5th mid? I'm leaning towards Davis because I think he's more nailed. Alli has played well and doesn't deserve to be dropped but surely he's a rotation risk with Son and Mason coming back from injury and Dembele in great form.

Is having Silva, Aguero and KDB too much city? they were ruthless and i think this is a pretty good option over the weeks that follow the liverpool game... i just see the game against us where it could be a problem...

My team would look like this

    Henessey
    Bellerin Rojo Coleman Simpson Smith
    Silva Sanchez KDB Mahrez 4.5
    Aguero Lukaku Vardy

Then when the time comes i could downgrade one of them in the case that i would wanna upgrade either Vardy or Mahrez in case they go off the boil

    Thoughts?

well theres no rush to geet both out as all the rest of your attakers are strong so if i were you i would decide who do you want between ozil nd lukaku and then transfer out the repsective player due to your decision and then wait another week to move the other one

    Who wins?

    Vardy cheaper
    Kane better fixtures

I know you've only asked these two specifically but I'm leaning towards Kane as his high level of performance is in line with last year where Vardy's form seems more ephemeral.

    Case without Kun. Thoughts ?

Im a guy who regards Kun as essential when fit but im slowly coming to the idea that going with someonlike Kane over Kun for the rest of the year maybe more sensible

Kun - LIV SOT stk SWA ars SUN lei

Kane - WHU CHE wba NEW sot NOR wat (or someone like Lukaku Tekkers)

    - Im assuming by the time Kun is fully fit the tentative period would start

    - Pelle would be more cautious and sub Kun early when city are leading

    - Wouldn't want a captain who'd play around 70 mins and Kun took some time to get going last season too after injury

    - Plus Kane has the fixtures to match Kun and is guaranteed 90 mins and is a good captaincy bet

    - Plus with someone like Kane id have a strong bench which might be useful in busy December period

I think around gw 21 after jan 12 might be the best time to get him.

    1. FALCAO & MOU
      • 10 Years

I would get him as early as possible. His price starts rising as soon as he gets fit. Not when he starts scoring. Too much to lose if you don't get him early. Disbalances the whole team as soon as he gets in. And his previous seasons show that he gets more than 20 goals no matter what. So would get him right now. IMO of course.

Its a perfectly reasonable tactic in my view. I think the structure of our sides should dictate our course. If its easier for you to go with Kane then do that. As an Ighalo owner its easy for me to get Aguero so I'll probably do that.

I'm slowly warming to the idea of selling Payet for Ozil and doubling up with Sanchez for the WBA fixture.

Not so much because I think its a good fixture (its not in my eyes), but it gives me the option of waiting an extra week for Aguero and still having a strong side (ie not downgrading Payet so someone a bit rubbish and having to start him to due Ighalo's tough fixture).

Then the following week I can look to downgrade the underperforming and overpriced Sanchez to fund an Aguero move and a potential Ighalo upgrade.

ye true i also have ighalo and use him in a 352,but would like to play him in all his fixtures after united so will probably downgrade a mid to a benchable /rotatable 5th

I'm having same predicament of sticking with 352 or switching back to 343. I'm now will to stick with 352 a bit more longer now that Kun is back and with a strong 5 man mid. In my case I'm thinking of downgrading Yaya>>6.6-7.0 mid as I see there is value in it and I aready own Ozil.

If Aguero wasn't back I'd have definitely switched to 343 with Kane.

Good move that I reckon mate. The way I see it is we are now starting to see the emergence of forwards (such as Kane, Benteke, Lukaku and of course Aguero's imminent return), and with popular midfielders such as Sanchez, KDB, Mane, Mahrez (to some extent, although he's still excellent value) toiling and Payet injured, now's the perfect time to set up a 3-4-3 team

Curious on your guys thoughts on this:

Would you rather get a cheap 4.3 midfielder as your 5th mid and play Ighalo every week? Or would you spend the extra for Lanzini/Albrighton/etc and rotate with Ighalo? Cheers 😀

Hmm, I'm usually a dirt cheap mid type of guy (although I have been playing 3-5-2 in recent weeks), but I'm not sure I'd want to play Ighalo every week.

But attacking rotation asks for bench points, and you'd have to make sure that the mid you get rotates well with Ighalo for the foreseeable. I'd consider getting a 4.3m mid and then try and upgrade Ighalo to one of Lukaku/Kane/Benteke

    5. Valar(Keith)

Drinkwater @4.5 has created only one less chance than Mata all season and has had 4 shots on target(15 in total) .. looks good value. Maybe dont rotate ighalo but you can have a reliable assister of your bench without spending much

neither, though with a gun to my head Ighalo every week.

Do you have enough for Ozil? If so he'd be my man.

That's an expensive defence you have there too 😀

For all the Ozil love, I just want to chuck it out there that Fabregas only got 165 points last season with his 3 goals and 19 assists while Hazard got 233 points with 14 goals and 10 assists. That's a 68 point difference for only being involved in 2 more goals. Goals are king in midfield.

Yeah that's a good post. But you must consider that Hazard was an absolute BAP king last season, often picking up 2-3 bonus when he only grabbed an assist.

That is true but also something Ozil has proved hew is not. Especially as in the midfiled the bonus point system loves take-ons and shots on targets, two things Ozil avoids like the plague.

Cazorla will boss the BPS when he gets even just 1 assist

Yeah but most of Fab points came in first half of the season and people mostly owned him during that period only.

Also Arsenal as a team have more goals in them than Chelsea. So as long as they keep scoring 2,3,4 a game expect Ozil to be involved in at least one of them as he's their most creative player. also Ozil plays more advance than Fab. I think comparing Ozil to Silva would be more justifiable.

Silva's got way more goal threat than Ozil though.

Thats true but only based on last season. Before that Silva was assist machine and still had high scoring seasons.

Looking at it again, maybe I am being a bit harsh, but my general feeling is mids need to score at least 6 and preferably double digit goals to be viable in the premium range, do you think Ozil has that?

No I dont think he has 10 goals in him but wouldn't bet against it, he's world class and if not more should chip in with 7-8 goals. But I have no doubt if he plays full season, he can create a new assist record in PL and maybe score 10 or more goals who knows.

I think Arsenal are title contenders this year and having their #10 in my team gives sense of security.

Ozil is currently more involved in the Arsenal team than Fabregas was last season, statistically speaking. He'll rack up more assists than Fab this season I reckon, more goals too by a less significant number though.

Also, bonus points are a big factor, and I disagree with your point to NickOfOz, Ozil actually has the most amount of bonus points in the entire Arsenal team right now, and he only hit form around GW7 or so.

      You're missing out buddy 😉

He could break it but theres a long way to go and Ramsey and Cazorla are more than capable of stepping up to the plate and taking away from his involvement. We'll see.

Ozil is got 3 bonus in one game and 2 in a another by getting only an assist.

And i think his stats would be better than fab of last seaosn

He also has 3x zero points from 1 assist and a 1 occasion of 1 bonus points for 2 assists.

Sadly not, until I win the lottery and can become a full time FPL manager, this is the time of day when I have a chance to publish posts. 🙂
