Southampton’s Graziano Pelle is the most high profile of this week’s Suspension Tightrope protagonists after collecting a fifth yellow card of the campaign in yesterday’s home loss to Stoke.

The Italian will now miss next weekend’s trip to the Etihad and, although he will return in time for a plum home clash against Villa in Gameweek 15, it’s fair to say the exodus is picking up pace – over 120,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have already parted company as we scramble to bring in the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero.

Pelle earned a late caution for kicking the ball away as his barren run continued – he’s scored just once in the last five Gameweeks. Post-match, Ronaldo Koeman was unhappy over the Italian’s lack of self-restraint:

“It’s all about the frustration of the player. He was not playing well, he was not scoring and the team was not winning, but you have to control yourself always. That’s difficult, we know. But, okay, if it doesn’t happen today maybe it happens next week. It’s always a question if you are one booking from a suspension. It’s always when, when, when it happens. Okay, normally you have to control yourself. He knows. We know. We have to accept it and we will play another [number] nine next week.”

Pelle is one of six players to succumb to a one-match Tightrope ban so far. Liverpool will be devoid of Lucas’ services for their home encounter against Swansea next weekend. Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey will also miss that Anfield encounter – handed the role in “the hole” at home to Bournemouth, the former Red bagged himself a goal and assist before earning his fifth yellow of the season.

Over at the Hawthorns, Tony Pulis has decisions to make at left-back after Chris Brunt picked up his fifth booking in the Baggies’ home win over Arsenal – the Northern Ireland international now misses next weekend’s trip to West Ham. Mark Noble will also be unavailable for that one after earning his fifth yellow in today’s loss at White Hart Lane, whilst Dele Alli will be absent as Spurs host Chelsea next weekend.

There are now 17 players on this week’s Tightrope, with Gameweek 13 handing us five new entries. Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie, Leicester centre-half Robert Huth, Norwich’s Seb Bassong and Liverpool pair Emre Can and Nathaniel Clyne are the men in question.

Palace duo Wilfried Zaha and Yohan Cabaye, along with Sunderland’s Billy Jones, could yet topple of this week’s Tightrope – all three go into tomorrow’s night’s match at Slehurst Park on four yellows apiece.

In terms of newly-available players, Tottenham will welcome back Erik Lamela for next week’s trip to Stamford Bridge after the Argentine served a one-match ban at home to West Ham earlier today. West Brom will have Gareth McAuley available for their clash with the Hammers after the Irishman missed yesterday’s win over Arsenal.

Slaven Bilic’s side, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Collins once again – the Welshman serves the last of a three-match ban against the Baggies.

    Guess the player:

    Has averaged 7 points in his last 4 (5, 2, 13, 7)
Plays Aston Villa, Norwich, and Sunderland next.
Used to be a template player in FFS
Has been forgotten due to other big names.

probably move Richards and Williams on to Moreno and Simpson (unsure on latter) at some point. likely not to touch Moreno until Sakho is close to returning.

Aguero will be a priority next so the defense may take a back seat as I start VvD, Bellerin and Kolarov most of the time regardless of fixture

        Thanks.
I've been stuck with Migs. Now he has good fix can't drop yet
Cedric will have to be shifted eventually. I will look at A Spurs or WBA defender

If KDB continues to disappoint he will become Coutinho / Firminio and Vardy > Kane.

        1. Volley127
          • 13 Years
          10 years, 29 days ago

I agree, Cedric i'd go for someone a little more nailed on maybe Berts if you want southampton still.

McCarthy can go to Elliot/Hennessey easy enough for the same price if you plan on keeping Mignolet (they're fixtures are quite good too but there's always the likes of Butland if you wanted to save cash)? Spurs defenders are relatively cheap too, especially Walker!

KDB > Countinho I've done myself and considering Vardy > Kane also, not sure how i'd be able to fund it. Feels wrong getting rid of someone who's just scored 10 in a row so will probably hold on that myself.

I think Rojo has a slight rotation risk too but if you have decent back up you should be fine. Perhaps drinkwater > stanilas lastly to free up some extra funds.

That's my view anyway haha, feel free to do what you want of course!

Thanks for the input. That's a lot of transfers. I will have to sort priorities out first.

Cedric > Walker/Rose appeals to me

The rest, well everything is changing from week to week so I will make changes with these suggestions in mind.

    Hey guys, would you WC?
Not sure if there will be a better time before the end of December?

    Butland Ruddy
    Dier Bellerin Francis Cedric O'Shea
    KDB Sanchez Ozil Mahrez Fletcher
    Pelle Lukaku Vardy

Need to get Kun in and my backline is in dire need of restructuring.

I cannot fathom why people are selling the league leaders' main striker, who has scored consecutively for 10 games, has scored or assisted in every game this season and cost most close to 6.0m.

People are just getting bored of their teams/players and want something new.

I didn't say he hadn't blanked, according to FPL he did in GW2, but according to other sites such as transfermarkt he got an assist in GW2.

Mmm okay, I guess it doesn't count then, my bad.

Still, it's probably closer to an actual assist than a shot off the post or a clearance to the face (*cough Kolarov cough*).

Surely he has proved himself to be somewhat fixture proof?

Man U at home could be tough and I wouldn't be surprised if he blanks, but with the support of the team behind him to break RVN's record, I think they'll really go for it. Swansea have been dire recently and I think he'll score well there. Chelsea too have been poor. After those 3 I'll reevaluate.

People are trying to pre-empt his form dropping off, but he is showing no signs of doing do.

"Surely he has proved himself to be somewhat fixture proof?"
How has he proved that though, only scoring against 3 of the top 10.

Yes he could score against all Swansea, United and Chelsea, he could just as well score against Swansea only. What's more likely on paper?

"People are trying to pre-empt his form dropping off"
What's wrong with doing that, isn't that how you get ahead of the game.

Not a big fan of stats but they suggest he's scored 4.5 more goals than expected from the shots taken, and that he'll regress towards the mean.

          1. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
            • 13 Years
            10 years, 29 days ago

He has scored 5 goals against teams in the current top 10, and if we count the assist in GW2 which FPL did not give, then he also has 2 assists against them.

Fair enough he hasn't faced the likes of City or United yet, but we will know soon enough how he will fare against them.

In his current form, with his confidence, he can score against anybody.

Whilst it can help you get ahead of the game, jumping off too early can be a very bad move. It's very easy to take a player out after a couple of blanks for another who is in form, but if you take them out and they continue to score, chances are you'll be reluctant to bring them back in.

Even if he does regress, he will still represent good value. I'm not saying that I will keep him in the future if/when his scoring is less impressive, but I'm not going to sell him while he is keeping it up. After the Chelsea game, I think could be a more viable time to saw farewell, given he will be in the thick of some tough fixtures.

              10 years, 29 days ago

Fair enough. You have your reasons for keeping, i think it's a good time to sell. We'll just agree to disagree then. I do agree that he should still represent value if he regresses, but i just think some of his appeal has gone with the tough fixtures now, and the fact 1 blank changes a lot, he won't be playing for the record, and Mahrez probably stays on pens.

I possibly worded the OP a little inappropriately; of course there will be people who don't think he will score as well as other strikers, namely Aguero, and that would be their reasoning.

I feel he will go for the record vs United and, despite the tough fixture, could come out with a goal. Given their defensive form, I'm not holding out for anything. I'd imagine he will be on pens for that game, at least if at the time one is won he hasn't already scored. After that though, they will more than likely be back in Mahrez' name. The following 2 fixtures should be easier for him.

My original point was that people are dismissing him now because of some 'meh' fixtures, because he isn't world class and hasn't proved to score well previously, because Leicester are no Man City, United, Arsenal etc.
if the situation was different, I doubt people would be so quick to sell a different player. If Aguero has tough fixtures but was in form, City were top, and in excellent form then I highly doubt people would sell him.

I know there will be people firmly in different camps, some because they have no other choice right now and some because they chose to be. If I really wanted to, I could bring Aguero in for Vardy, but in the scheme of things I don't think now is the right time.
