Our first members article of the week delves into the Gameweek 13 data this evening. We assess the downturn in form of a trio of premium midfielders, as Alexis Sanchez, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard’s displays arrive under our radar. Harry Kane and Roberto Firmino’s weekend showings are also analysed, whilst we take a look at Bournemouth’s midfield improvement since Eddie Howe switched tactics in Gameweek 11.

        1. Scored many goals and had nice stats at Hoffenheim over the course of a couple of seasons, not just one.

        2014/2015 Hoffenheim GB 33 2918 7 10 5 - 2.9 72.7 2.3 5 7.79
        2013/2014 Hoffenheim GB 33 2919 16 11 5 - 2.8 74.7 2.2 9 7.94
        2012/2013 Hoffenheim GB 29(4) 2491 5 2 9 - 2 72.2 1 1 7.21
        2011/2012 Hoffenheim GB 26(4) 2210 7 1 4 - 2.1 78.5 1.3 5 7.47

        2. Coutinho is a very frustrating player to own that takes a lot of shots Outside the Box. I like him as a player a lot but not really in FPL perspective.

        3. Firmino looked amazing vs. City and I feel like Klopp can't drop him at least for the next few games. I feel like he needs to continue performing well in order to nail down a spot in that starting 11 now that Sturridge and Benteke are back.

No point having 2 City heavies Aguero + KDB for the upcoming difficult run of fixtures, especially as MCI is not on form attacking wise.

What has Kevin De Bruyne done wrong apart from blank the last two gameweeks? He was Manchester City's best player in their loss to Liverpool. He's absolute class. Are people having to lose faith in him because they need cash for Kane/Lukaku/Aguero?

    1. Shifty
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 1 month ago

more likely the latter. KDB > Ozil/Barkley and Pelle > Aguero seems quite straightforward.

yes now with those 3 firing funds are needed, and although kdb might still be a good pick, is he worth it over those forwards? Atm it doesn't seem so.

Probably for Kun cash. He's the easier one to downgrade over Sanchez

    4. BearHug

Aguero cash, and also the fact that there are choices for much cheaper mids who has nice fixtures and on form. Ozil or Countinho or the Everton boys. Not to mention the bandwagons of the sub 6 mil mids for 5th spot like Lingard Alli or Lanzini.

The argument against De Bruyne, whilst owning Kun, is that for 10m+ you want a captain option, but any game that would be worth captaining a City player you wouldn't look past Aguero. He's an unnecessary luxury while Aguero is in your team and you'd most likely be better off spending that money elsewhere.

He's City's record signing, he's nailed. Question is whether you want to pay £10.5m for Hazard-type production but without pens. He creates a lot, but assists are worth less and he's been shooting less lately.

Would these be good transfers for after the weekend? Would be a -8.

    Cech > Hennessey
KDB > 6.7 (Lanzini, Deulofeu, Bolasie)
    Vardy > Kun

    This would give me

    Gomes / Hennessey
    Smalling / Ward / Rose / Moreno / Dawson
    Sanchez / Ozil / Mahrez / 6.7 / Wanyama
    Kane / Kun / Lukaku

      I know the

That's why i'm waiting until after the weekend. Giving him CPL and Southampton to get his form back.

Until January I think he might be. I'm a Liverpool fan so I want to see him scoring week in week out, but I honestly don't think it'll happen.

He could potentially become a rotation risk too when Hendo, Studge and Benteke are fully fit.

I hope none of the above happens though and he is scoring every week.

He's still central to everything Pool do though, I can't fathom how he'll be rotated tbh, he's easily the teams best playmaker. There's a lot of goals to be had with these fixtures, with Hendo back soon & hopefully Sturridge/Benteke fit, this could be one of the best attacking assets to invest in now & through the festive period. Coutinho's creative stat have been great recently, either him or Firm are great picks imo.

Brought in Aguero for a hit. It would be criminal not to hand him the armband. Or is Sanchez or Lukaku a better bet? Otherwise, am I good to go?

    Myhill
    Kolorov, Bellerin, Alderweireld

    Vardy, Aguero (C), Lukaku

I also brought in Aguero for a hit but I'm not captaining him. Don't captain someone just because you took a hit to get them, pick the player you think will score best. I don't think that's Aguero with this week. Both Sanchez and Lukaku are better choices imo.

Ah, I assumed it'd be a -8. Yeah, although it's definitely a risky play going without neither Agüero nor one of the City mids. Tbh, I'd consider that move, Pool have turned a new page & their fixtures are grand.

I was a dual major of mechanical engineering and economics but hated the engineering. Dropped it partway through for psychology and finished that one in a year with some heavy-duty summer school and enjoyed it much more.

Now work in market research analytics and have worked closely with the likes of Nike, Chase, Home Depot, Target, Converse, and Gap.

Engineering/sciences/maths look absolutely horrible, everyone I know who does them seems to find it really hard. Is it easy to switch subjects in America? I'm an English student but psychology/philosophy seems a lot more appealing at the moment, not that I'll ever get the chance to change.

Take your mathematical aptitude and look into the financial sector. Lots of money to be made, and at least there even if you don't enjoy your work, you'll make enough money that you can venture off on your own earlier than may be possible otherwise.

Reeeeaaally don't wanna do that. Alarm bells start ringing whenever someone mentions the finance. Not that I necessarily have overbearing moral issues with it, I just know I would hate it, and can't do something I would hate. My work ethic is terrible now doing a subject I 'enjoy', so I dread to think how disaffected I would be working in a bank or something.

Marketing sounds decent though. I've been looking at some advertising internships, which might be tolerable

The number of shots he had under Rodgers was extremely high too.

You think Klopp has said 'said' something to him and transformed a key technical ability? Delusional tbh.

Lukaku has done it before, for a West Brom inferior to this Everton side and at a younger age. Bad year last year was the exception. Poor example.

Comparing his time under Klopp to that under Rodgers, his shot accuracy has doubled, his conversion has risen from 3% to 23% and he's created more chances (in fewer games).

      Something definitely in the water.

          • 14 Years

Yeah, I just find that hard to believe. He's probably had him on the training field for approx 15 days. Improving players is a much slower business than that.

It's not irrelevant but I'd say there's definitely an element of form in this. Greater responsibility to take on the mantle with no Sturridge/Tekkers.

Perfect storm of a few factors.

I just don't see him becoming Lampard overnight. I realise you're not saying that btw, but based on three games, I will not get too excited.

Hope he puts in another 10 for the season because he's easy to enjoy in general!

The thing is he has the overall ability, just poor finishing. So perhaps it's a mental thing as he's a clever player. That being said, comparing the two periods, he's shooting from outside of the box just as often haha

One to monitor for sure. Think Eriksen is a better option atm.
