We take our regular trip to the Weekly Shop this evening, assessing the player lists of our partner games to pinpoint the likely targets that will make up our weekend lineups.

The player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re scanning the players lists in our two partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt.

Better Buys

In six league matches at Old Trafford this season, United have conceded just once and Louis Van Gaal’s defence looks set to continue that resilient run with the visit of a blunted West Ham. David De Gea (FantasyBet 5.5m, PremierPunt 8.2m) is certain to start and requires less outlay than the Red Devils’ only other guaranteed backline regular Chris Smalling (FantasyBet 6m, PremierPunt 9.5m).

Against Swansea, Liverpool picked up a second clean sheet in six league outings under Jurgen Klopp last weekend. After selecting Alberto Moreno (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7m) in the Poundstretchers category, we hand the Spaniard a promotion this time around on the back of his maximum bonus haul against Garry Monk’s men. With a trip to struggling Newcastle up next, Moreno’s raids down the flank could finally come to fruition as he looks to add to a single assist so far.

Sadio Mane (FantasyBet 8m, PremierPunt 11.6m) looked lively in the defeat at the Etihad and created the Saints’ consolation in a 3-1 loss. The Senegalese midfielder has three goals and six assists this season and, having netted against Liverpool this evening, may well add to that tally with Aston Villa visiting St Mary’s. Dusan Tadic (FantasyBet 7m, PremierPunt 10.4m) is a viable alternative – the Serb comes in cheaper than his team-mate and is currently leading on overall points.

Romelu Lukaku (FantasyBet 8m, PremierPunt 12.1m) has been labelled as inconsistent in the past but five goals in four shows the Belgian is almost indispensable at the moment. The Capital One Cup clash with Middlesbrough, who conceded for the first time in seven matches at the Riverside, demonstrated that Lukaku’s flourishing understanding with Gerard Deulofeu (FantasyBet 6.5m, PremierPunt Forward 9.5m) has even made doubling-up on the Toffees’ attacking assets against Crystal Palace an enticing option.

Poundstretchers

Aston Villa have scored just once in their last three away trips, so investment in Southampton’s defence looks to offer value this weekend – in spite of this evening’s 6-1 home hammering at the hands of Liverpool. The cheapest route into the Saints backline is keeper Maarten Stekelenburg (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.8m), who has made 12 saves over the last four Gameweeks.

Watford have been defensively impressive in front of their own fans this season, keeping four clean sheets in seven home encounters. Given that only Arsenal, Manchester United and Palace have scored at Vicarage Road, visitors Norwich could struggle to make a breakthrough and we call upon Nathan Ake (FantasyBet 4.5m, PremierPunt 6.4m) as our preferred pick – the left-back gets forward more than the other Hornets defenders and picked up an assist in the recent home clash with West Ham.

Arsenal’s injury crisis could see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (FantasyBet 6m, PremierPunt 8.4m) handed a start at home to Sunderland this weekend. With Mesut Ozil in such fine form, the former Southampton wide man could get amongst the points if the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla are indeed ruled out. Another budget friendly midfielder from a top-team is Dele Alli (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 7.3m). Back in contention for Tottenham’s trip to West Brom after serving a one-match suspension last weekend, he offers a cut-price route into an attack that had scored thirteen times in the last four Gameweeks.

It’s difficult to look past Watford for cut-price forward options. We highlighted Odion Ighalo’s (FantasyBet 5m, PremierPunt 8m) record last week and the Nigerian duly delivered with a goal and an assist. Strike partner Troy Deeney (FantasyBet 5.5m, PremierPunt 8m) has quietly been on a scoring run himself and, having netted in four in the last five, he offers an in-form option for the visit of Norwich.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the weekend. I’ll return on Friday with a further assessment of this week’s partner games – FantasyBet and Premier Punt, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

Anyone prefer the option to bench him and do Jones>Zouma/Toby?!

I'm trying to steer clear of him as i "believe" he only has one decent GW if that left in him. Liverpool my preferred choice but no solid picks. I could go with Mane but too punty imo

I hear ya, but you need to do something.
Personally I think Barks is the new Ramsey, let's not forget he's 3rd overall for mids and 6th in the whole game.

Was all set but like you the Cout train has stalled,
                        Kdb,Ozil,Mahrez,Barks,Cout,
Lukaku,Vardy,Aguero could be my front 8 heading into the festive season. I have a few bench headaches but rotation may solve this-I'll see what pressers bring.

Its a game of predicting the future basically and I feel Chelsea will get more points than any other team to narrow the gap

With the fixtures, surely, they can get a few goals as well and Hazard will be an integral part of it all

Thats all i can think of and should be enough to make the move

People who are getting him think hes going to explode, fixtures, maybe pens, better recent performances
Those who are not getting him think hes a dud, seasons stats, Chelsea poor, better options

Sorry. Everyone a little biased on here I feel ( i include myself, im on Haz)

I'm on him. However when in previous years he was a solid purchase at any point he's currently in "punt" bracket for me.

I'm lucky in that my team is solid I have 2 FT and have KDB/Ozil/coutinho already embedded. Other good options were available (Barkley being the top one id say) but having one punt I. He midfield feels like a fair compromise.

With Kane/Lukaku/Vardy up top I don't have any low ownership there either.

And when talking punts who better than 2014/15 top point scorer?

Won't be csptained until he scores a goal though.

Struggling to work out where this Hazard stuff is coming from.

Gone into the members area and looked at stats, and I don't think it's a secret that he's had 0% involvement in the goals in the last 4 game weeks.

Fixtures are great - but, not showing any sign of form would worry me about bringing him in.

There just are better options in the mid now then Hazard so much is for sure imo. Chelsea will not come in form out of the blue I'm montering them but they first need to show some improvement before Hazard comes to my mind

        speculating after last night

although hoping for Eve v Liv,
imagine City v Liv COC final and ensuing DGW

        would you

A - triple captain aguero (there might not be another Kun DGW)
B - bench boost (there might not be so many good options in a DGW)

        ?

          Coutinho all day.

He's playing in a side full of confidence who are openly attacking and have great fixtures.

Hazard is looking a bit better but is much more expensive and playing for a team in poor form.

        Anybody considering Sturridge?

When he's fit he scores... Simple as that.

Vardy's fixtures are looking tough and a double with Mahrez might not be so sensible anymore.

Alternatively, who's the best bet to change Mahrez to?

I'd love to get Sturridge in - you're right, when he's fit he score.
Not sure I can fit him without taking either Lukaku and Vardy out..

I've been toying with losing Mahrez > maybe to Cout?

All hinges on if I want Aguero or not.

Fair enough, it's something I'm looking into as an alternative to Aguero, they both seem to be key to City.

I just couldn't advocate Sturridge, quality player, ridiculous injury record. 3 games and he will be out again.

Maherez to hendo is a little different? I prob wouldnt though

He's a great option but better than Aguero, Kane, Lukaku, Vardy... I'm not sure I want to give up a striker spot.

Were we given any indication last night that Cout would be fit for the weekend, let alone start?

Not being on the bench was worrying for me.
If he was going to start you'd think he'd have come on for 5-10 mins at the end?

Hey, so I was just introduced to http://anewpla.net/fpl/ on the previous page and not only is it another website to add to my many in 'Fanto Bookmarks' it has some really interesting stats. One particularly peaked my interest

Total Immediate Points Gained from Transfers : 95

I'm interested to know is this high, low or average? 4/5 of my hits paid off massively so I'm curious. What has everyone got?

Thanks for the link - a mere +50 for my mob, who are 106,579th place overall. Quite a few negative weeks saved by some big-hitting transfers in for captain.
