Thats not the only decent game he's had. The big issue is if Klopp continues to play Benteke in the league games. Put him infront of Ozil and he'd look crap

Earlier in the season I was lambasted on here for commenting that Benteke is an average striker. Hopefully Pool fans waking up to realising LFC blew 32m.

To me he's a decent player but not in our system at all. We're a fast counter attacking team (like Dortmund). He does not fit us.

Firmino certainly shines with more fluid players but Coutinho is a superior pick if you want a Liverpool player to own

Is there any way to see your week by week scores from other seasons?
Or do you have to print screen at the end of each season?

I want some comfort from previous seasons - showing how much rank you can gain after poor starts

He's had his chances and missed guilt edge chances from 5 yards out. If those went in, nobody would be discussing if he fits into the system, he'd probably be on 6-7 goals this season and rated a successful signing.

    Current team :

    DDG/Butland
    VVD/Sagna/Monreal/Martin/Williams
    Ozil/Barkley/KDB/Mahrez/Cabeye
    Vardy/Kane/LLukaku

To all the captain hindsights out there,

I still believe KDB (2), Hazard (2), Kane (2) and Firmino (3) were decent options, even (C) options to go with prior to the deadline. Obviously many would have went with Vardy and Lukaku, but this week was always going to be good for a punt given Chelsea were playing Bournemouth and Liverpool (who scored 10 in their last 2 games) were playing Newcastle (who conceded 8 in their last 2 games).

With Sanchez and Aguero being ruled out, in addition to doubt over Costa starting there were always going to be a few maverick options.

Hazard had two decent shots saved, and on another day the referee might have given that handball as a penalty to Chelsea meaning Hazard potentially comes away with a double figure return and nobody says anything.

Likewise, De Bruyne was very unlucky not to comes away with an assist/ goal and Harry Kane had a good few chances which on another day he might have converted. Let's be honest about it, unless you captained Mahrez (21) there wasn't really any options that delivered apart from Ighalo (10).

          🙂

In truth I didn't of course, but he seems to devour bonus points when he gets an assist or returns. I have some added smugness because I actually have went right off the notion of punting on players and sticking to those who are currently reliable, so I had mentioned a few times during the week that Pool attack and Hazard were maybe not the best ideas.

But that's just how it goes, on another week Mahrez could have had a lower return and the Pool boys + Haz could have left me red faced.

      Kane, yes

Scored in his 2 previous visits to Hawthorns.
In form, cant remember exactly how many goals in how many games but very impressive.
West Brom conceded 4th most big chances over last 4 game weeks, with most conceded through the centre.

      Hazard, no

But you offer no reason as to why Hazard wasn't a good option?

Bournemouth - their away statistics account for the most Big Chances Conceded, second in Errors Leading to a Goal, and most Penalties Conceded on the road

Hazard was likely to be playing OOP, and considering his stats from the Tottenham game, he was looking threatening. As I said on another day, the referee gives a penalty for handball and Hazard comes away with potential double digit returns.

Hazard - 1 goal in 15 apps. 1 double figure haul in 15 apps. And that was many weeks ago. Im a Chelsea fan, but Hazard has shown nothing to justify his high price tag. I honestly counldnt understand why so many on here were bringing him in.

Totally agree. Stoke 2-0 Man City, Chelsea 0-1 Bournemouth and Newcastle 2-0 Liverpool individually are deal results that could screw someone's Gameweek. All oft them coming together on one weekend is a hard blow to take, but it doesn't invalidate that the players you mentioned were and still are viable captaincy options.

I'm just bitter because I sold Francis (6) and benched Wollscheid (6) to play Moreno (1) and Dawson (2) instead.

It was also a week where many of us had strong fixtures for most players, meaning that a risky captain punt could be taken, with the possible failure offset by the rest of the team. I captained Hazard, and still rose 80,000 places to 145k. If it hadn't been him, I probably would have captained Ozil, so in the end it cost me 4 points. Had Hazard got that penalty though, his low ownership would have given me a significant boost up the rankings. It's the type of risk I'd take again tomorrow if I'm honest, though I might not try it again with Hazard specifically.

No to the first two. KDB will be this years Di Maria, his fantasy returns have quite fortunate.
Also, no reason in the world to think Hazard will magically pull Chelsea out of a their slump.

Yes to Kane & Firmino, great options this week.

Given Hazard's poor showing (blanked 9 games in a row), didnt even see him as a good option for the first 11 honestly. Given West Brom's defensive incline, might be logical to not captain Kane. My captain is Vardy and vice Lukaku. I also have Kane and KDB but honestly KDB away to stoke doesnt seem to be a good choice. Liverpool: Anyone can score even Milner, Henderson or even Moreno.

So we can gloat or moan(!) all we want but sometimes people over hope and if we look at things simply (not just stats) but how a team plays/what form they are in, we can roughly guess which players has a higher chance of doing well.

But it is still true Hazard could have gotten some points, as in his last 9 games.....

I agree, good points, Bowstring. I don't think I came across anyone genuinely putting up a half-decent argument saying Liverpool options as a whole were bad options (other then Stuurridge) vs the worst defense in the league. So many immature people coming out of the woodwork truing to get attention that they threw enough shite at a wall & something finally stuck.

This is a game based on some arbitrary numbers based on the events of a football pitch often hundreds of miles away, if we can't have joshing around over the results* then why are we here? If you stand by your pick or your process then stand by it and come out fighting, tell people Hazard will come good or that your tables will come good and that you'll see them at seasons end. Half the scoutcast is Granville and Mark LOLing at each other, but that's fine and actually half the appeal of it. Deep down we all know mini-leagues/OR at season's end are all that really matter so enjoy the journey while you're on it. Nobody's going to get 37 green arrows.

*Of course we've got to show accountability on this and that's why most us have links in our profiles. In fact a call that blew up in my face is the whole reason behind my grav:

I think Newcastle are a bit worse on the road, and Spurs are quite strong at home. I also see Newcastle being decent one week, yet more often are generally weak. Feels like a great opportunity for Kane.

I already have him but would definitely be wanting to bring him in if I didn't. Spurs have been very good at home this season against the weaker teams, particularly recently (3-1 Villa, 4-0 West ham) - Also got a 4-1 against City at home.

Newcastle won 6-2 and then followed it with a 3-0 loss against Sunderland. They won 1-0 against Bournemouth then followed it with a 3-0 loss against Leicester and 5-1 against Palace. So I wouldn't count on them having a good game twice on the bounce.
