Georginio Wijnaldum bags a goal and assist as Newcastle grab a much-needed win at home to Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp makes six changes for the second successive outing as the Reds struggle to impress at St James’ Park.

Wijnaldum Steers Magpies to Vital Victory

Having recorded heavy defeats in the previous two Gameweeks, Newcastle United broke that pattern with a determined 2-0 win over Liverpool. Georginio Wijnaldum earned the assist for the Magpies’ opener when his shot deflected in off Martin Skrtel, before chipping Simon Mignolet in the dying embers to double the hosts’ advantage. Moussa Sissoko teed up the Dutchman at the last to bag his fifth assist of the campaign.

Courtesy of seven goals – all of which have been scored on home turf – and three assists, Wijnaldum currently ranks third among all midfielders for total score (84). The Netherlands international – who’s contributed to ten of Newcastle’s 16 strikes – is certainly a viable differential at the 6.9 mark, but prospective investors will be looking for the Tynesiders to display more attacking consistency, given that they tallied two goals in five outings prior to this Gameweek. Regardless, Wijnaldum’s penchant for netting at home is bound to attract attention from Gameweek 17 when Steve McClaren’s men embark on a run of four matches in six (AVL, EVE, wba, ars, MUN, WHU) at St James’ Park.

Despite shipping eight goals across their last three matches, Steve McClaren’s troops now boast three clean sheets in five outings. As such, Rob Elliot (4.0) represents a decent option for those managers who are looking to cut costs at the back ahead of those clashes with Villa and West Brom.

Klopp Momentum Curtailed at St James’

The Reds fell to their first defeat in five road ties, managing just one shot on target throughout the encounter. Philippe Coutinho missed out with a hamstring strain and was conspicuous by his absence, with Liverpool struggling to carve out clear-cut shooting opportunities – as evidenced by the fact they were one of just three teams (the others being Norwich City and Manchester City) that failed to register a single big chance in Gameweek 15. Having played in midweek, Daniel Sturridge was only deemed fit enough for a cameo role just beyond the hour mark, as Jurgen Klopp made six changes from the side that won 6-1 at Southampton.

Alberto Moreno’s 5% ownership were left disgruntled when his equaliser was wrongly adjudged to be offside. Nonetheless, the Spaniard’s impressive foray forward did serve to highlight his rich potential for attacking returns. On that note, no defender has amassed more key passes (25) than Moreno this term, which bodes well for Sturridge’s full return to the starting XI. As for Liverpool’s clean-sheet prospects in near future, their next five fixtures (WBA, wat, LEI, sun, whu) could be fruitful in that respect.

    Myhill to DDG this week?

Majorly missing out on United defence and DDG ta 5.6 is immense. WBA just don't look like a Pulis side atm.

Been wondering about the WBA defence and i am holding (Dawson for me). Fixtures start to turn again and he isn;t the type of guy to rotate much over christmas.

Myhill a bit more concerning with Foster supposedly coming back i guess. I don't like premium keepers but Man U are looking good for clean sheets...

To be fair Elliott probably would've saved it if he didn't hear the whistle and didn't see his defender stopping.

Yep, was defintiely onside too, although to be fair to all concerned the whistle blew well before he hit it so hard to be sure he'd have scored if the flag hadn't gone up.

Sold Aguero for Kane and will probably not getting back until new year. Have a lot in the bank so many options like

Ooof they may review it in their edit today but I doubt the PL will use that. They always have data integrity checks before sending "final" data to clubs etc but fantasy games are too caught up in the instant gratification stats.

Scout Pick Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 16

This season we have revamped how we involve the community in our Scout Picks. Once again we are on the look out for a champion to represent the community to take on the Scout Picks and win the chance of a prize.

The big difference this year is the launch of the Scout Pick Champion Lottery. If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk .

The champion will then be selected at random shortly after the deadline of 2pm tomorrow (Tuesday) and then be asked to submit their XI by Thursday 3pm by emailing me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of the 83m budget. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team. No captain or chips will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who beats the picks by the highest margin will win a £100 Amazon voucher.
In addition, from this week FantasyBet (https://www.fantasybet.com/) are offering Community Champions the chance to win free entry into their £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22 by taking on our Scout Picks in a specially set up game ahead of Gameweek 11. In addition the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.
This is an extra offer that is available to any community champion who is 18 or over and not based in the US.
Champions will not be able to be selected as a champion for a second time. The champion will be revealed in a new midweek Scout Picks article on Tuesday, which will outline our initial thinking around the picks. Our and the champions picks will be revealed as usual the day before the first match of the Gameweek.

Should the community “Champion” fail to provide an initial or final Scout Pick selection, then an “Assistant Manager” chosen by us, will gain control of the selection to represent the community for the Gameweek in question.

He's just not as good against the stronger teams and they have a bad run coming up so I thought my funds would be better spent elsewhere, at least for a few games. I was always planning on getting him in again when fixtures ease.
My issue, like you suggest (I think), is that I bought him for 5.7 and can only sell him for 6.2 now despite him being worth 6.8! Not sure the loss is worth the potential extra points an alternative 4th min might bring in

If I remember correctly, he has a away bias. So Vardy at home, Mahrez away.

I feel like Myhill has been clinging on for dear life - will he survive the upcoming run of decent fixtures?

38' Ighalo had the ball in the net, with Nyom heading the ball to the Nigerian but the linesman ruled it out for offside. The replays showed it should be have been 2-0.

Sorry for the repost, bottomed last article:

My team became a mess in the past 2 weeks:

    Butland l Hennessey
    Kolarov l Bertrand l Moreno l Dawson l Souare
    Tadic l Marhez l Hazard l Coutinho l Gosling
    Lukaku l Aguero l Kane

Massive fails for me this week, my new catch-up punts of Hazard and Sturridge (c) bombed massively. Still bringing in Kane (c), as think yesterday's result was more to do with how insipid Liverpool were and not some new found defensive solidity from Newcastle.

The question is, should I ditch Vardy or Sturridge to get him? Was intending on Vardy with his upcoming fixtures, but if Sturridge isn't going to be a starter I can't see the point of hanging on.

Newcastle won because Liverpool were poor, the effort Newcastle put in was a large contributor to how poor Liverpool were but 0 shots on target till a tame header right at the death wasn't because of great defending just poor attacking

Morning all, tough enough weekend when you captain Kane and a rival captains Mahrez but thats the game eh..

Will Ramsey and Alii be the big transfers in this week across the game?

    ______________DDG____________
    Kolarov // Bertrand // Azpill // Evans // Ward
    Ozil // Ayew // Mahrez // KDB // Westwood
    _______Kane // Lukaku // Vardy_____

2.5 in the bank and 1 Ft.. Two questions:

      1. Ayew: was going to sell for Cout and SWA look shocking but after this week have two nice fixtures.
      2. Westwood ---> Alli is an easy move.
      3. Azpill ----> TOT Def

    DDG
    Kolarov, VVD, Moreno (Dawson, Richards)
    Firmino, Ozil, Mahrez, Barkley (Westy)
    Kun, Luk, Vardy

    1FT, 3.6ITB

Was all set to do Vardy to Kane, but been disappointed with VVD & worried about Firmino.

    Any advice for the FT?
