With Gameweek two of the inaugural FIFFSA 5-a-side world cup now completed, the groups are now starting to take shape, apart from UEFA group B where each team has recorded a single victory. With another five matches to go, there is still everything to play for in the tournament.

Gameweek 2 Review

The Cayman Islands shook off a first week defeat by posting the highest team total of 377. This was compared to an overall average team score of 319.

Uruguay once again won the award for the worst benching decision. This week they benched Riazor who, was not only their highest scoring player, but also the highest scoring player in the tournament with 94pts. Luckily for them, this wasn’t enough to prevent them from defeating Ecuador 366 to 323.

Away the pitch, Oghash wins the award for the best press conference revealing the underhand tactics some teams will go to ahead of the tournament matches.

Gameweek 3 Preview

Looking forward to Gameweek 3 of the competition and gameweek 15 of FPL for the season, we see some interesting matchups.

The standout fixture of the week will be the trans-Tasman affair between Australia and New Zealand. Australia, led by Jeanz have started the tournament with two wins while New Zealeand, led by Deadzone regular Innsie, are rooted to the bottom of the table with 0 points.

Despite their victory in the opening gameweek, Iceland followed the result up by posting the lowest team total in gameweek 2. They now face off against San Marino who, despite being hotly tipped at the start of the tournament, have lost their opening two fixtures.

Lastly, two FIFFSA members will be facing off at the weekend when USA take on their arch rivals Cuba. With 0 points so far, USA will be desperate for the victory but up against the 3rd most experienced team in the tournament, it won’t be an easy task.

A detailed summary of this can be found on the player history tab which includes the rank history of every player in the tournament at our team sheets and tables spreadsheet.

Further Information

A quick reminder of the format. Each Gameweek teams will pick a team of five players to go head to head with their opposite nation. The match will then be decided by the aggregate score of each teams’ Gameweek scores after hits have been accounted for. This week’s games can be found here.

Captains are required to submit their team sheets to fiffsa.exec@gmail.com by 2300 (GMT) by the Friday of each Gameweek otherwise their sixth player will be automatically benched.

Live scorecards will be up shortly before the early kick-off on Saturday at our score centre spreadsheet.

If you have any further queries, feel free to ask below in the comments or email us at: fiffsa.exec@gmail.com

Enjoy the tournament; this is the FIFFSA 5-A-Side World Cup. Accept no imitations.

So Lukaku hits the post, we had Deulofeu they had Barry, he gets a jammy assist and 3 baps. Sums our campaign up. No luck whatsoever

Yeah off the bench and Wollschield off the bench and played Francis. Add in a disallowed Moreno goal as well when we had 3 more than them and you get the idea

Getting the benching decisions horribly wrong with the right call we would have won our last 2 games. Both top scorers benched first 2 weeks and then 2nd top scorer this week

The benching decisions can be crucial. I made two perfect benching decisions in the first two weeks and we won one lost one (would have lost both had I not made the right benching call in first game).

But not knowing all my players' teamsheets before the Friday deadline this week could easily have cost us this match. For the first time I didn't make the perfect benching decision (I just benched the lad that didn't send me his team) this cost us 7 points and turned what would have been a relatively comfortable victory into a win by just 10 points.

In short don't despair! Keep persevering and put as much thought into the benching decisions as possible if you start getting them right you'll start racking up the points!

😉 I was just pulling your leg with the first comment. Figured it was only fair to counteract that with some friendly motivation in my next one, didn't mean to sound patronising!

Can you still scrape through with three wins if other results go you way, or do you definitely need 4/4 now?

Doesnt matter. Our fellow Zambians are going crazy that we've almost qualified for our first World Cup ever.

Some of our finest women have made this special video for warrior Lukaku, and will be visiting him soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL6OTG7H9WQ

From the group tables it would appear that only points scored during qualifying ties will count towards 'FPL Points For', Balders can you clarify?

The financial industry dictates a credit score of 846 deems you to be a reliable, productive and trustworthy member of society, able to receive advanced levels of Bankster services. However, 846 in the world of FIFFSA fantasy football shines a beacon on you of lighthouse proportions, illuminating you as the very worst team in the competition and highlighting the lowest level of fantasy acumen

The cringe worthy shame of being the worst individual member of our team this week has me crippled with painful embarrassment. So deep is my hurt I have slipped out with my misery and set sail on the "Wing Wong Winehouse" alone and inconsolable. I have much to ponder under the stars of the blackest night I can remember, sailing against the currents of an ocean teaming with glowing irradiated fish from Fukushima. I set a course for Scotland and the hope and promise of medicinal liquid gold............Whiskey.

    Comrades we will never surrender
    Comrades If we die
    We will die standing up.

Congratulations Malaysia on your well deserved victory.

It is almost midnight here, in one of the many high rise condo in Kuala Lumpur, the FIFFSA Malaysia Team is celebrating madly, when we intercepted this gloomy and melancholic message from the N Korean Team Leader to his comrades.

Bearhug slips outside to the balcony wth his cheap ciggarette newly lighted, pondering upon the very same stars the N Korean leader gazing on that lonely boat. It was a great fight, versus the Koreans. We had better luck. And no amount of eat-all-you-can yummy fried rice served on our celebratory table can change that fact.

The Malaysian wish the Koreans much luck in the next round vs the UAE. Had we played the UAE, we surely would provide you with some inside information about their team without any additional charges.

Take your break in Scotland. Drink all the whiskey you wish. But when your accent starts changing, when you find yourself utter the word 'aye' too much, its time to get home, as FIFFSA is more cheerful with the Koreans in it. The Malaysian wish the Koreans good luck in their future endeavours.

12 points (4 wins) should be enough to scrape through in most groups.

Some teams with 12 points could go out on points difference though in groups where there are no very high scoring teams and several very low scoring teams.

at this time of year we all like to celebrate with our friends and family and enjoy all the wonderful gifts we give and receive, but remember not everyone will be so lucky. There are people out there who won't know the joy of celebrating with loved ones, there are people out there who will be all alone on a bench.
Take Barbados, they will have to spend xmas with no points and hardly any goals, with nothing to look forward to.
Or Ivory coast, who wont experience the pleasure of a winning goal from their captain.
So we are asking you to help

The tartan army appeal is all about helping others
for just 3 assists we can help the UAE get a decent points total
if you donate two goals we don't have to watch the French suffer in their league any more
and for just one captain double point return we may actual see the joy of USA moving off the bottom of the league.
So please think of others at this time of year and give what you can.

Winter Break! Really good idea as it gives the organisers a chance to rest with their families and gives us a few weeks to sort out our teams without worrying about hits affecting our FIFFSA performances!

Well the break officially starts as soon as GW17 ends, and GW20 doesn't count, so it will actually be close to three weeks.

        yeah this.

Can't imagine submitting teams on Xmas day and us (well, Balders) organising the score spreadsheet would go down well with everyone's families.

Team France can report dressing room in fighting after they suffered a 3rd loss in as many games, this time by just 10 points. Had their Captain, one Boris Bodega not benched himself they would have won despite his 12 point hit.

The Pastis has been broken out and deep fried frogs legs have been ordered.

    I fear for the worst......

Plenty here in south east asia (malaysia).

You want them deep fried, stir fried, with ginger, chives, various sauces, you name it, we got it!
