For those Fantasy managers who captained Luis Suarez last weekend, there was a bitter irony to the Uruguayan’s brace at the Britannia last night…

Liverpool’s game with Norwich saw Suarez manage double figure goal attempts but a defiant display by John Ruddy in the visitors’ goal, combined with some wayward finishing, left him goalless

Having netted the second, and decisive, goal of the Carling Cup win, Suarez was removed by Kenny Dalglish with four minutes left on the clock. Reports suggest he left the field limping – this was confirmed by Dalglish in the post-match press conference…

“He got kicked right at the end of the first half. He turned Jonathan Woodgate. He made contact with him but he tried to stay on his feet to take the chance. That’s where he hurt his leg. That just emphasises what we say about the wee man. He had the opportunity to stay on his feet and did.”

While at present there’s no reason to suggest Suarez will miss out on this weekend’s trip to West Brom, Fantasy managers are clearly having second thoughts about him right now, regardless of a possible injury doubt. So far this week, he’s been transferred out by over 35,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, the most of any forward in the game, though he’s still the second most-owned forward, second only to Wayne Rooney.

With a match at home to Swansea in gameweek 11, there is some merit in retaining Suarez, particularly given the poor form of Brendan Rodgers’ side on the road. The following two gameweeks see Liverpool face Chelsea and Man City, however, and many will perhaps be planning an exit strategy at this point.

Last night’s “knock” could well be similar to the situation involving Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen – a muscular problem amounting to nothing more than cramp. Certainly Suarez appeared to be in good spirits as Liverpool saw out the final minutes of last night’s tie, but Fantasy managers will be waiting on more news from Anfield in the next 24-hours before making decisions ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

ok my WC team at moment is

    vorm ruddy
    bosingwa kompany enrique wilkinson simpson
    vdv silva ramsey walters pilkington
    adebayor rvp aguero

now i'm over by 1.5m so need to trim down a little

    a) bosingwa/enrigue/walker/BAE - which 2
    b) is pilk really necessary or is swansea's allen/dyer suffice and which one
    c) any better options than ramsey, will be getting drenthe in for walters next week or should i just go walters and drenthe

any other areas need improving, i am aware of no chelsea and united coverage for now!

Lose Boswinga. He is going to concede this week(again) I don't like Ramsey. How much is he? Adebayor--->Sturridge and upgrade the midfield.

      Sessgon/Larsson(he is on 4 yellows)/Brunt are options

yeah bosingwa is the one i'm considering loosing and put walker in so thats 0.4m saved

then i have dyer and was considering changing to pilkington, but allen of swansea is playing as well as a cheepie so that would be another 0.6m saved.

so that leaves me with 0.5m to trim and ramsey is 6.5 m so its either leave him and change walker to BAE, or keep walker and change ramsey to 6m midfielder, so could have drenthe and walters, not convinced by brunts fixtures

Done it already. Figured Ashley Young gives me United coverage and, actually, Everton won't give away too much at Goodison anyway - even if the world and its mum are predicting some kind of backlash from United, I'm not convinced...

Aguero against Wolves at home though...

      No-brainer if you ask me!

Anyone think it's worth swapping Suarez for Balotelli this GW? (at the cost of 4pts).
Struggling with this one... Silva my only city player at the moment

    LOLP

Really need some advice guys…this could make or break my season lol

I am currently sitting 2nd in my cash mini-league. The guys who are sitting 1st and 3rd are both captaining Aguero this week. My thoughts are, do I captain Aguero aswell and keep safe, or hope aguero only plays limited game time and scores low whilst i captain someone else over take over!

    Team is

    Vorm (Given)

    Boswinga Kompany Enrique (Simpson, Delaet)

    VDV Silva Ramsey Dyer Walters

    Rooney Aguero (Best)

So do i captain aguero or even play risky and go VDV or Silva???

VDV as captain, his 88 minutes last week show he is near full fitness. Plus City have the must win game against Villareal next wednesday. If Aguero plays it'll be until the game is won. The last minute rout might be left to Balo and Dzeko.

Not having VdV is killing me... Current front eight is

Gerrard, Silva, Lampard, Moses, B Johnson
    Sturridge, Rooney, Suarez

Any move would be for a hit, Gerrard and Lamps have such low ownership they could be a massive differential and Rooney has amazing fixtures. Am I best just to sit tight and wait for the inevitable hammy injury? It's making me consider crazy stuff like Rooney and BJ to VdV and Bendy for 8 point hit! 😯

Don't really subscribe to this 'cover' thing. Sturridge is irrelevant if Lamps gets another hattrick for instance. I look at individuals rather than team coverage, but thanks for your input.

But when is Lamps going to get a another hatrick? He's had one good game (FPL wise) and that is it. Too much money to have wasted on one player. IMO

Couldn't agree more; 'cover' is about the daftest thing on here, just ahead of 'doubling up'

I don't think the concept of cover is totally stupid. You don't have to subscribe to it to acknowledge that if say Man City batter Wolves this weekend you would want at least one player out of their attack (probably Silva) but you wouldn't necessarily want to gamble on Aguero, Balotelli or Dzeko. Therefore you have covered yourself because you know that Silva will probably get an assist if not a goal whereas the other three may actually outpoint him but you have no idea which one!

Absolutely spot-on! "Coverage" is only applicable to defenders - otherwise it's all individuals. A dog of a defender might pick up a clean sheet if his co-defenders help him do the business but, for instance, I don't see De Jong or Barry picking up many points courtesy of Silva's brilliance.

On that thought I would think it more likely that VdV gets a hattrick than Lampard. I would do that transfer. Plus, you get some extra dough.

Im not happy with my team at the moment.

    Szczesny Vorm
Kompany Bosingwa Simpson Taylor De Laet
    Silva VdV Taarabt Petrov Dyer
    Rooney Suarez Dzeko

Ive got 2 free transfers and 0.1 in the bank.

Thinking of taking an 8 point hit to do
Szczesny, Taarabt, Suarez, Dzeko >> Ruddy, Walters, Adebayor, Aguero
    Aguero would be my captain.

Do you think its worth it? What else should I do? Any help appreciated

Knock my foot! He will play this GW. Suarez has scored more than one goal in a single match for the first time this season. If you already have him in your team, hold on to him dearly, else its the best time to get him now.

his finishing is poor as a whole. yeah he got 2 last night, but way to many shots with out goals for me. Add in the fact he likes to fall down when other humans come near him and I see a yellow for diving soon.

Boswinga -Brown -Walker -Taylor R ( -Figueroa)
    Silva Nani Cabaye (Bannan, Moses)
    Aguero -Adebayor - Suarez

    (2 free transfers)

I want to get rid of Boswinga what do you think of
    Boswinga, Bannan -> Wilkinson, Milner
