The Scoreboard presents the Fantasy Premier League information you need from the day’s matches all on one screen, including the current top five BPS (Bonus Point System) standings from each match (potential Bonus Point earners are in bold). Actual Bonus Points will be shown when added – all points are provisional until then.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

  1. Is 'value' redundant?

Is "Value" gone this season? We hear a lot about a player being 'value for money' a lot over each season. But this year to me the term is bandied around way too often to have any significant meaning to FPL managers. In previous years, there were always that one player that was underpriced/ overachieving (whatever way you look at it) that allowed us to splash the cash elsewhere. But this season, we have a plethora of options available that are delivering, with many finding themselves with 4-6mil in the bank, and are content with their team.

Interesting look at goals per minute ratio this season from popular players

    Mahrez 99 mins per goal
    Vardy 100 mins per goal
    Aguero 104.9 mins per goal
    Giroud 106.1 mins per goal
    Lukaku 114.6 mins per goal
    Ighalo 116.6 mins per goal
    Kane 165.2 mins per goal
    Sanchez 183.5 mins per goal

Personally I think the arguments for "Aguero costs over double what Ighalo costs so Ighalo is better value" goes out the window this season because Mahrez, Vardy and the likes of Lukaku free up so much cash this season. Yes, any other season that statement would be correct but when coupled with the fact that the likes of Ivanovic and the more premium defenders are not living up to their pricetags, the issue of "value" surrounding the premium players does not apply considering we cannot invest the cash into other areas. A team that has 3mil ITB scoring 75 points in a given gameweek with Ighalo, or a team with 0mil ITB scoring 75 with Kane makes absolutely no difference this season. So value cannot be applied in this situation surely?

99 minutes per goal is insane for a midfielder, let alone a Leicester one

      Yep - I agree

If we don't use up our 100m budget the concept of value for money has no meaning. That said, the season could well change and that concept will come back into play

Simply put, yes. VORP is dead until Hazard, Aguero and another 10m+ player start firing.

But if the cheap Charlie's still continue firing even when the premiums are firing, that wouldn't change the landscape much imo,

This is true, but if they falter for even 2 or 3 weeks whilst premium players are firing we might see panic stations.

Great post, Bowstring. People have had Aguero/KDB/Sanchez sitting in their sides without the returns you'd expect for their price tags, but this has not really things much because the cheaper players are delivering

Value is only relevant when your ideal squad costs more than your current budget, so that you have to make compromises. But having some spare cash does allow more flexibility if you decide that you would like to replace one of your players with a more expensive player.

If you have sufficient reserves of cash, then the only questions you need to ask are "Will Aguero score more points than other forwards?" and "Will he keep fit?".

If you don't, then it may be necessary to downgrade another player in order to afford him, and that's where VORP comes in.

I agree with this as things stand currently, but later on in the season we might find ourselves wishing for more luxury players. If hazard starts firing and sanchez comes back soon, that's already a lot of cash absorbed.

I'm sitting with 6.1 in the bank and hoping that the heavy hitters start getting some big points soon, or else I will keep sinking

I don't think that game gave anything to judge him on. City had no supply to him for the majority of the game and the few touches he had near goal he was pressed so much

I think Sunderland will be a better guide, I've kept onto him the last couple of weeks, so pointless to ditch now anyway with the SUN fixture

Perhaps. Although I'd struggle to ditch Mahrez, Ozil or Barkley in order to double up

Do I ditch Coutinho? Him and Moreno are really dragging me down

"Didn't know Grujic existed..." Klopp's type of player. 🙂

Nope, I suspect Grujic will be one for the future though.

Grujic in top 3 players this half season in Serbian League. Matic style.

Mods/Scouts, wondering if the Spot the Differential feature could maybe be reworked and take a more central place in the weekly flow on this site -- if indeed opting for a differential this season is peering over the cliff into an abyss of red arrows (not sure you could see them in actual abyss but the phrase works for me), perhaps more discussion of how to determine a good versus a bad one might be helpful, seeing as those choices seem to be transitioning from cheeky to crucial.

Some underlying stats and ownership percentages could be a nice touch. Just a thought.

The main template players are scoring too well for differentials to work

That was kind of the point. With not as many available spots those choices are more important than usual.

So here's the situation. Everyone in my mini league has Barkley except me. I have a front 8 of

    KDB Ozil Coutinho Mahrez Bolasie
    Kane Lukaku Ighalo

    2FT 2.9 ITB
    Should I consider...

    a) KDB > Barkley
    b) Bolasie > Alli
    c) Both

Rotation between Alli & Ighalo would be amazing plus Alli will be rising so fast.

    Cheers mates

    Let's try like this.

Kane, Eriksen and Coutinho to Aguero, Ozil/Ramsey and cheapie for -8, worth it?

Will Ramsey or Walcott benefits the most of Sanchez absences?

Agree. But have to choose one.
Ramsey was unlucky today and Walcott got a great goal.
Dont think thats enough to get Walcott.

        Whats your thinking?

I think essentially everyone else benefits, there's only so many points to go around.. Ozil obviously the most
