The essence of boring football - Moyes vs LVG

Stats hide one thing, context. So this doesn't take into account: time spent, money spent, strength of rivals etc.

    All stats are per 90 mins : Moyes 13/14 - LVG 14/15 - LVG 15/16

    Total backwards passes: 174.32 - 214.87 - 208.21
    Chances created: 10.24 - 10.29 - 7.68
    Key passes: 9.26 - 9.21 - 7.05
    Goals scored: 1.68 - 1.63 - 1.16
    Goals outside area: 0.29 - 0.18 - 0.05
    Total shots: 13.84 - 13.47 - 11.16
    Defensive errors: 0.5 - 0.76 - 0.42

His football probably wasn't acceptable either, but clearly more creative and positive.

We all knew that Moyes was a more defensive-minded coach, that's how he laid the foundations at Everton, so imagine describing Moyes as more 'creative and positive'. That's how awful LVG is

The likes of him and Poch is what the BPL needs. Not Mourinho or LVG

I'd do dirty things for Bielsa, Sampaoli, & Guardiola to be managers of a PL side. Plus the current crop of Klopp, Tinkerman, & Wenger, it'd be a beautiful time for FPL & top-tier football back in England,

It would be nice. I'd like Guardiola to take charge of a team like spurs or a similar size. A bit of a project.

He's been showing signs of the Silva prior to his resurgence in goal-scoring prowess circa Winter 2014. Seeing more of the classic Silva dilemma of him assisting the assister, though he's putting up good creative numbers these last two, he's shooting very little in the box overall.

Hopefully Agüero starts converting more chances, but overall, Silva's on the wane.

It's funny BF posted at the top something similar to what I have just been researching: the difference in attacking threat between Moyes and LVG. Using the first 19 gameweeks of Moyes reign as a base point, here is the difference in attacking output over the first 19 gameweeks of each season under LVG.

    Stat | 2014 | 2015
    Shots: -2 ; -36
    SiB: -15 ; -45
    SoT: -24 ; -21
    Goals: +1 ; -10

My team is a massive benching headache, which is been fine by me thru this busy period. But any advice on who to bench here? AOA is an option.

    ..............DDG (Hennessey)
    Moreno - Wollscheid - Bellerin - Ward - Dier
    KDB - Ozil - Arnautovic - Coutinho - Mahrez
    Ighalo - Kane - Lukaku

Don't trust Fabianski. Had him for ages at the beginning of the season and kept letting me down.

          I'd try Gomes or Hennessy.

Speroni is in his last season, for us anyway, he's only still with us because he activated a clause to get another season. I suspect he may go onto our coaching team when this season finishes. Legend.

Ofcourse Kolarov was going to get a CS once I removed him! Though, I am pretty happy for choosing to transfer in Alli over Arnautovic though. 😀 Both were going to be on the bench anyway.

Ozil(C) saved this week, otherwise it would have been pretty ugly.

Unless Coutinho blanks and Moreno grabs a clean sheet or a goal, I'm going out of the FPL Cup to a team ranked 3.5m in the world that was only created in GW17. The team has no history from previous seasons and the manager played his bench boost in GW17. 🙁

      🙁

Wouldn't stress, last season I lost to an absolute graveyard team that had Javier Hernandez, who at the time was sitting on the pine at Madrid 😀

Three-quarters of FPL managers won't get beyond the second round so there's no point worrying about it.

I am 14 points ahead of my guy, he has Mignolet, I'm all out.

You can just see a repeat of that Mignolet debut as he saves a last minute penalty to get to a 15 pointer.

I wouldn't say he is adverse exactly but often the outcome is that he is performing above his average finishing and he will revert to a more realistic conversion rate.

Often a valid point in these circumstances

Basically, yes. His SoT conversion rate, excluding penalties, is too high. It's a little more complicated than that but that's the headline I guess.

Arnautovic has got all the talent. I would question his attitude but that seems to be improving. But he isn't a great fpl option. Tends to score better against the better opponents when you might have him on the bench.

If Aguero was fit and firing having Arnie and Mahrez as 3rd and

Pretty much. The hype around here in the last 24 hours is too much, but he's not a terrible pick either. To put his recent form into context, his SoT conversion rate over the past few weeks - excluding the penalty - is twice what you would expect in the long run.

    I'm starting Smalling & Bellerin
Who would you pick out of:
    (a) Dann (CHELSEA) or
    (b) VVD (norwich) or
    (c) Toby (everton)

It's either (a) or (b) imo but just can't decide. It seems a 50/50 call.
