A strong start to the new campaign suggested Nani had carried on the form that made the winger a near-essential acquisition in last season’s Fantasy game. The arrival of Ashley Young only seemed to spur the Portuguese star on to greater performances and while a return of 23 points in the 8-2 win against Arsenal had propelled Young into many a Fantasy team, the former Aston Villa player suffered from an inconsistency- the Gunners match is the only time he’s found the net so far.

Nani, on the other hand, was producing the goods with far greater regularity- 3 goals, 3 assists and 7 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his first six games returned 45 points, an average of 7.5 per game. Since then, though, his season has somewhat stuttered. In fact, scrap that – that’s underplaying the decline. Let’s be honest, Nani’s season has ground to a halt quite spectacularly since gameweek seven.

A loss of form has seen him play just one hundred and eighty-four minutes over the last four matches and with no goals, assists or bonus points, he’s picked up 7 Fantasy points; 1.75 per game. Priced at 10.1, he’s burning a hole in the budget of 26.2% of teams right now and while similarly-priced Rafael Van der Vaart tears up the top-flight and David Silva is producing consistent, if unspectacular returns, many are starting to ponder Nani’s value in their Fantasy squads.

Using our own ICT Index and the Opta stats available to our Members, we analyse just how his season has unfolded, paying particular attention to his performances in comparison with both Van der Vaart and Silva:

    Woodgate > Evans?

Or wait and see over the break?

Defense this week is: JE, Raylor, Assou-Ekotto (probably Evans for Ekotto, and if he doesn't play then I'm fine with Ekotto)

      United fans, 2 questions:

      - Is Evans really assured of starts? He's gash.
      - Is it worth taking out Rooney for Hernandez? Is Rooney looking sharp?

Not a Utd fan but I can give my opinion on the first point.

Evans at 4.5 isn't a bad gamble but if it's for the long term I think Jones is better. I fell he will play most games (whether it's CB, RB, CM), especially with the form of Evans, Evra not being available at the moment and injuries at RB and in midfield.

If I had Rooney I wouldn't shift him. I think if Jones plays CM or someone else comes back into the fold in the CM position then Rooney will be back to his usual antics. That said, I wouldn't sign him unless I had him until I saw something promising.

        van persie (C) suarez balotelli

He had a full game tonight in Europa, but a cracking one with a brace. If it's any consolation Zamora played a full one. I'm thinking Ruiz will play some role this weekend, and if i had to guess who would start on the bench it might be Zamora, given his past fragility and his utter lack of form of late.

I have just realised that my brilliant foresight of buying Ba for 6.1 is hindering my plans of getting rid of him.
He is worth 6.6 at time of writing. But if I sell him after Everton game, I will only get 6.3 for him maybe 6.4 if lucky.
He seems to have three very tough fixtures after that. Then three easy fixtures following those.
In light of the above should I sell Ba or keep him and tough it out.
PS I benched him when he scored last hat-trick which is also clouding my objectivity!

When did you buy Ba in Henry? Did that have any factor in your decision too?
Fair point on Chelsea never thought of it that way...
But then I have the same problem if I got rid of Bosingwa as I do with Ba (Price wise)

I'd probably get rid sooner than later. He's had extremely fortunate tricks. And with a strike partner like Best, they are due to trade the lucky rabbit's foot crammed in his ass. Percentage-wise, the odds are against him doing any better.

        Evening lads,

Been quite adamant all week that i'll be captaining RVP this gameweek, as many others will be doing also for those who have him (16.7% surprising more don't have him by now), however am i maybe overlooking Van der Vaart against Fulham away? Its one or the other, and i feel one could maybe disappoint hopes, however both have form so could just be over thinking there.

Anybody have these two and which one you opting for? help appreciated 🙂

I am going for RVP cos if arsenal do anything at all he will be involved. Pen, Freekick, cross or goal and Bonus points.
VDV is more prone to a sulk now and again.

if you have RVP then surely who'd have to captain him, esp considering he sat out 3/4 of the CL game.

Haha! i have these little moments where i place doubt sometimes even in the most prolific of players, cheers for the wake up call lads, good point, the guy is just on absolutely everything a set piece can throw at him really isn't he, and he's lethal from open play. Bravery over, and sensible choice back in, RVP it shall remain. Thanks.

Cannot believe i placed my captain as Torres last week, for some reason i just hold the guy in much respect and like having him in my team. If there's any chance of him doing anything it's got to be at Blackburn this weekend, if not, i'm getting rid, love for the guy or not. 🙂

scooped him up last week too but gave Ade the arm band...mistake just as bad as you. But I will probably give it to Nando or Mata or maybe even Ade again. the VDV torrent can´t keep up can it...?

But I've said that the past two game week and missed out on monster scores accordingly.

Hernandez is always capable of big scores, he is class. In fact I'm drawn to him simply because of the whole Rooney in midfield thing, but its hard to drop Rooney for the little pea. I'd say he is worth a punt if you can afford it and have RVP & Suarez already.

        Bosingwa, Lescott, Enrique, Jones,

        VDV, Ramsey, Drenthe,

        RVP (c), Aguero, Hernandez.

Im very two minded wether to leave/monitor Drenthe untill next week and play Pilkington as he seems to like away displays win or lose.

Can I get a little advice people? I'm in a pretty good position, but i think i need changes and i'm not sure what the best to do and when. Team link in user name, i have 2FT and 0.9 in the bank.

Current thinking; Anderson-->Ramsey, now my problem areas are Nasri, Moses, and my keepers, then to some extent Rooney and Sturridge too.

        Some considerations of mine:
        Rooney-->Hernadez (frees up some cash)
Nasri-->Drenthe (frees up lots of cash)
Vorm/Krul-->De Gea (not possible without one of the above, given Anderson-->Ramsey)

I'm a little stuck, maybe that means i should save my transfer. What do you guys think? What would you do? Comments much appreciated.

I think Anderson to Ramsey is a solid option. I think Sturridge is fine for the moment and not a problem, Rooney worries me more playing so deep now but i would still leave him in. if your prepared to take a 4 point hit would also see potential for Nasri to Cleverly because although he is out this week, he isnt going to drop in value and is a good play for week 12. Definitely fix the keeper situation tho.

          So either
          Nasri to Cleverly/Drenthe
          Anderson to Ramsey
          Vorm to De Gea

          Or just do
          Nasri to Ramsey
          Vorm to De Gea

And reassess next week possibly getting rid of Roonpig and using the extra money for the midfield potentially Mata. Something like that.

I like Anderson > Ramsey, then Nasri > Drenthe next week out of those. Rooney won't be stuck in CM for long and Hernandez is a rotation risk; if you have Roo I'd keep him.

I'm not sure it's worth getting De Gea; he'll do better than most other keepers, but it'll only generally be by a point or two and you can use the extra money elsewhere. Would you have the cash for Sturridge > Adebayor?

        Great article by Sir Paulos.

Would have been interesting to add Mata into the mix, especially since they're roughly in the same price bracket and he's been doing well (only 2 points fewer over GWs 7-10). He's also a great alternative to those who are just short of the 10m+ needed for VDV and Silva (or already have both and want a third).
