Petr Cech is sidelined for up to four weeks with a calf complaint ahead of the north London derby. Dele Alli could be in line to return to the Spurs XI, with Mousa Dembele set to be assessed. Southampton have concerns up front for the visit of Sunderland, whilst West Brom’s Chris Brunt is ruled out for six months with knee ligament damage.

Petr Cech has been ruled out for “three-to-four weeks” with a calf complaint sustained in midweek, Arsene Wenger confirmed earlier this morning. The Gunners boss admitted that Laurent Koscielny will miss the upcoming matches against Spurs and Hull with “a small injury”.

Mauricio Pochettino revealed that both Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele will be assessed ahead of the north London derby. The Spurs boss is hopeful that the Belgian will be involved after missing out against West Ham in midweek, whilst he also reckons that Alli stands a good chance of starting after the youngster was utilised as a sub on Wednesday night due to an ankle problem.

Lee Cattermole has been ruled out of Sunderland’s trip to St Mary’s with the concussion that forced him off against Palace on Tuesday. Jeremain Lens remains sidelined with a hernia problem, though Big Sam is hopeful that John O’Shea could recover from a calf complaint in time. The Black Cats boss admitted that he’s managing Jan Kirchhoff’s fitness after replacing the new boy in midweek due to fatigue, though the former Bayern man is expected to be available for tomorrow.

Norwich midfielder Alex Tettey is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing ankle surgery. Gary O’Neil and Robbie Brady are both available after recovering from a midweek collision that left the latter with a cut head and Brady needing a visit to the dentist after losing two teeth. Steven Naismith is back after overcoming a knock, whilst Andre Wisdom will return to training next week.

Bryan Oviedo is a doubt for Everton’s clash with West Ham after being forced off with a knock in midweek. Roberto Martinez has also revealed that Leighton Baines is set to see a specialist as he is still being hampered by the ankle problem that saw him miss much of the season – the left-back is expected to be available for the weekend, though. Mo Besic and Darron Gibson are likely to be available, whilst Tom Cleverley will continue to be monitored after missing out against Villa due to illness.

Charlie Austin is set to be sidelined for three-to-four weeks with the hamstring injury sustained at Bournemouth. The Saints are also without Shane Long for the visit of Sunderland, though the striker is expected to be available for the following weekend’s clash against Stoke. Victor Wanyama serves the fourth of a five-match suspension this weekend.

Ryan Shawcross is again expected to miss out for Stoke this weekend. Mark Hughes revealed that his skipper is seeing a specialist in Germany and, should he skip the trip to Chelsea, is optimistic that the defender could be back for Gameweek 30. Phil Bardsley has been ruled out with a calf complaint, whilst Geoff Cameron is “really sore” after returning to action from an ankle problem over the last week.

Harry Arter and Josh King are both “very doubtful” for Bournemouth’s trip to Newcastle, according to Eddie Howe. The duo were forced off with injuries in midweek and will be subject to late assessments.

West Brom were dealt a blow yesterday after Chris Brunt was ruled out of action for up to six months with knee ligament damage.

Disastrous season ranking wise so far. Currently just under 500K, whats the best i can hope for by end of season do you think? Top 50k possible?

If you check on Gargtron it will tell you how far off you are. If you can close the gap depends on the chips you have left.

I am just inide 500k at the minute and 90 points off top 50k. 140 points off top 10k. I still have my 3 chips so i dont think 50k is unrealistic. Top 10k might be a touch too far though

"London player of the year" is apparently a thing.

And what's even more baffling is that Payet won it ahead of Ozil.

Which one out for who? Have 2FT and can do both but not sure if this is the week to do any of these two. Sanchez can easily score and Payet could get some points this GW also.

But would need to ship one out cause if Arsenal wins vs Hull I have only two playing mids for GW30 as I also own Ozil. 🙂

    DDG Cech
    Bellerin Daniels Toby Dann Targett
    Ozil Mahrez Payet Firmino Alli
    Kane Kun Vardy

Have 2 FT's so which two of:

    a) Dann to Kompany
    b) Cech to Forster
    c) Cech to Hart
    d) Targett to Kompany
    e) Firmino to Siggy
    f) Payet to Siggy
    g) other?

Won't have any shortage of players for GW30 blanks, so maybe holding Bellerin, Firmino, Payet for DGW's that follow would be a good strategy?

    Thoughts appreciated

    Forster
    Fuchs / Williams / Targett
    Mahrez / Payet / Ozil / Sanchez
    Kun / Kane / Vardy

    Butland / Alli / Toby / Wolly

What to do with 2FT and 0.1 ITB?

Obviously have been considering the Sanchez > Siggy move. But he came close to a big haul against Swansea. I'm happy to have him & Payet play this week - which would mean using a FT something I've never done in FPL. Any alternative ideas? I'm going to roll one FT for sure.

Watford could be a useful team to look at for DGWs as they offer cheap options to allow us big hitters elsewhere

But right now I am thinking that Gomes and Deeney are really the only options. Iggy has no form whatsoever and Deeney is 1m less. I thought Cathcart was nailed but he was fully fit v United and still benched due to 3 games in a week. the same may happen again come the DGW as they will be in the same situation.

    1. Milner4eva
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Yeah, I agree on Deeney being a better option than Iggy, can't beat a cheap DGW penalty taker. Gomes could be gold too, could rack up really impressive amounts of saves and baps in a DGW.

the big thing is, we will know later if he has a blank in GW35. If he doesn't, him with one of Cech, Courtois, Hart or DDG seems perfect for a GW34 BB

    Your Mum's Athletic

Manchester United - The run in - can they finish in the top 4?

After a 1-0 win against Watford on Wednesday, United now sit in joint fourth place alongside Man City, with the latter having a game in hand. It is the first time United have won back-to-back games since November and seem to be hitting a run of form.

Looking at the league table, they have 47 points from 28 games, ten wins from their last 10 games would put them on 77 points, however, on their current form, they are likely to finish the season around the 64 point mark, is this enough? Well 64 points would be 6 lower than last season and that was enough for a 5th place finish. Let's look at the fixtures:

United still have away trips to Man City, Tottenham and West Ham whilst also entertaining Everton and Leicester, hardly 'strong' fixtures, compared to the teams around them, the average position of remaining league opponents looks as follows

    Leicester - 11.9
    Tottenham - 10.7
    Arsenal - 11.7
    Man City - 12.3
    Man United - 9.8

United face higher placed opposition than anyone else in the top 4, on first glance you would think this is a negative but if they can beat the teams above them, it may well fall in their favour. However, looking at the reverse fixtures of the teams above the this season, it doesn't bode well: 16 points from 30 (W4 D4 L3), this form would leave them on 63 points, not enough.

Another problem for United is fixture congestion, they face Liverpool in the Europa League and are still in the FA Cup with a tie against West Ham, they could have as many as 11 cup games along with the remaining PL games, let's compare this to their top 4 rivals and how many games they could potentiall have:

    Leicester - 10
    Tottenham - 17
    Arsenal - 21
    Man City - 17
    Tottenham - 21
    Man United - 21

Injuries - United are on bare bones at the moment, promoting and relying on youngsters is a real problem, they will need the likes of Smalling, Shweinsteiger, Rooney to return sooner than later.

    tl;dr

Whilst United are likely to have a DGW down the line, I wouldn't get too excited, injuries, fixture congestion, difficulites in the class of opposition they face are all negative factors to consider when potentially choosing Uniteds assets in the run in

looking at DDG as well for Butland, seems like a luxury transfer thought right now

I must dissagree with you that United is hitting form...Ighalo could have scored 4-5 goals to them, they have just had huge luck to win that game, and if Watford can create that many chances then probably everybody can.

I agree- Stats show that last three ManU have been below par...were lucky to win against Watford. Sunderland game and Arsenal match show how inconsistent they are. I think the reliance on youth is a key factor in this inconsistency.

You have listed Spurs twice when stating the potential number of games left, is it 21 or 17?

I read the title and thought we were gonna be reading about England's last couple of six nations matches 😀

Seriously though nice piece YMA, I'm getting a little bit worried about Arsenal's funk but I'm not yet in panic stations mode about Man U catching us.

Unitde has 2nd highest PPG against top 7 ranked teams, after West Ham. I look at higher ranked opposition as good for United and LVG. Whatever the reasons r, they've consistently done well against better opposition

Having to bring Aguero in for a hit this week, undecided who to take out to free up funds:

    A) Firmino > Siggy
    B) Payet > Siggy
    C) Ozil > Siggy

    D) Dont take a hit, do Payet/Siggy/Ozil > Silva/YYT, and play Costa, Kane, Vardy up top...

Currently am leaning towards payet due to worst fixtures and benefits of keeping Firmino through to DGW price increases.

    What are your thoughts?

    Hi Guys

Few Q's re game week 30. My team is as follows:

    Forster/Rudd
    Simpson/Alderweireld/Monreal/Koscielny/Azpi
    Firmino/Ozil/Payet/Alli/Mahrez
    Aguero/Vardy/Costa

Basically. I've done my FT for this week.
Next week I'm planning on Costa -> Kane. Would it be worth taking a 4 point hit to do Firmino ->Siggy? That's assuming Arsenal get past Hull in the FA Cup.
Like, I'm trying to get the balance right between taking a point hit vs how many playing players I have. I'm currently 20 points off top in my main league so it's a tricky one....

This GW: Willian(STO) or Sigurdsson(NOR) more important?

    Butland
    Bertrand | Jags | Huth
    Siggy | Barkley | Ozil | Mahrez
    Vardy | Kane | Kun (C)

    McCarthy | Bellerin | Ali | Dier

    0.9ITB 2FT

I think Butland > Hart & Jags> Williams. This would allow me to have 11 next week and carry over next weeks transfer. What you think?

    A Butland > Hart
    B Ozil > Silva
    C Bellerin > Kompany
    D Jags > Williams
