Wednesday night culminates now with a visit to the Weekly Shop, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As per usual, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Stoke host a Southampton team that have struggled for goals on the road of late. The Saints have only notched three times in their last seven away ties and with Shane Long expected to remain sidelined along with Charlie Austin, their chances of finding the net look slim at the Britannia. Jack Butland’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,700) form may have faltered but a clean sheet against Newcastle in the Potters’ last home clash was a fifth shut-out in nine in front of their own fans – with Ryan Shawcross potentially available, there’s every chance that shut-out tally will be increased by the weekend.

Bournemouth have hit a promising patch of form, picking up seven points in their last three outings, while conceding just once. At St James’ in their last fixture, Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $4,600) netted a third goal of the campaign, while five assists as well this season highlights his points potential at both ends of the pitch as Swansea travel to Dean Court.

After scoring three and serving up as many assists over a five-week period, Christian Eriksen (FantasyBet 8.5m) has now blanked in three consecutive Gameweeks. The Dane’s ability from dead-ball situations could come in useful, though, against an Aston Villa side that have conceded the second-highest number of attempts from set pieces (24) over the last four Gameweeks.

Manchester City will be hopeful of recording their first back-to-back wins since October as they make the trip to a Norwich side that have picked up just a single point in nine matches and have let in 12 goals in four at Carrow Road. David Silva (FantasyBet 10m) earned attacking returns for the first time in six league appearances last week, creating two of the goals in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa, whilst Yaya Toure’s (FantasyBet 8.5m) strike in that encounter also broke a long drought, with his seventh goal of the campaign arriving after seven league outings without returns. Both midfielders should see this match as a chance to build up some form for the run-in.

Riyad Mahrez has been the Foxes main threat away from home, with his weekend winner securing all three points at Watford last time out. Nonetheless, Jamie Vardy’s (FantasyBet 7.5m) contribution at home has been ruthlessly consistent. The forward has been involved in over 50% of the Foxes goals at the King Power this term, notching 11 goals and two assists over 14 matches, and that record should be extended against a Magpies outfit that have conceded 13 goals in six consecutive away defeats.

Poundstretchers

Vardy and Mahrez are taking the majority of plaudits for the league leaders’ spectacular season, but seven clean sheets in the last 11 matches, compared to three shut-outs over the previous 18, shows that Claudio Ranieri’s defence have been equally vital to their title tilt. Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m) and Christian Fuchs (FantasyBet 4.5m) are our prime candidates for inclusion, with visitors Newcastle have scored just twice in their last six on the road.

Although Spurs have now gone four matches without a clean sheet, they’ve had some tough fixtures over that spell, having faced the three teams directly below them in the table. A trip to Villa Park hands them the chance to earn a tenth shut-out of the campaign and Kevin Wimmer (FantasyBet 4.5m) offers a bargain route into their back four.

Bournemouth provide us with a host of budget options ahead of the home clash with Swansea. Matt Ritchie (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $6,600) was highly rated as Bournemouth embarked on their first foray into the Premier League and, while a slow start somewhat dampened his Fantasy appeal, recent form – a goal and three assists over the last six – has made him the top-scoring Cherries midfielder. Meanwhile Josh King (FantasyBet Midfielder 4.5m, DraftKings Forward $4,200) and forward Max Gradel (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $4,600) have also impressed of late, with the former bagging a goal and assist in the win at Newcastle. Picking between the trio may end up coming down to available funds but with their target man Benik Afobe (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $4,700) also making a promising start to his top-flight career, including one or more of Eddie Howe’s attacking assets looks good value this week.

The match at Carrow Road throws up a pair of differentials to consider. Nathan Redmond (FantasyBet 5m) scored in his previous home match against Chelsea and is the top midfielder for shots in the box over the last three – he faces a City defence with two clean sheets in seven on the road. After starting against Aston Villa, Wilfried Bony (FantasyBet 8m) may also be worth selecting for the trip to Norwich. The City striker has scored four goals and served up three assists this campaign despite limited pitch time and could partner Sergio Aguero in a 4-4-2 again at Carrow Road, with Manuel Pellegrini likely to have one eye on the midweek Champions League fixture against Kiev.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

Ozil with loss of value and potential GW34 and 37 double up has stopped me from moving him out; especially when City GW is not decided.

Fixture-wise, the standout captain of the week. But Aguero is a much better finisher than Kane is currently, so that has to be kept in mind as well...

Suggestions for who I should trade Targett to with the 1st of my 2FTs?
Maybe an Arsenal player like Bellerin?

    Butland (Forster)
    Fuchs Kompany Alderweireld
    Mahrez Alli Arnautovic Wijnaldum
    Aguero Kane Vardy
    (Targett Dann Ozil)

Top of my Money League at the moment by 30 points or so, my rival has already used bench boost but still has TC + WC.
That being said, (also based on my current team) should I wildcard GW 33? or save until second DGW?

    Butland - Forster
    Ward - Daniels - Toby - Simpson - Dawson
    Mahrez - Payet - Alli - Arnie - Siggy
    Kun - Kane - Vardy _____1 FT ____ 7.5 itb

Also, has no one considered (depending on FA Cup results) WC in GW 35 to manage players with blanks?

Current team.. (Injury+ suspension not helping)

    Toby, Komp, Williams, Francis
    Eriksen, Sanchez **, Mahrez
    Aguero, Vardy, Kane

    Subs- Butland, Stan, Payet, Fonte,

Morning Dzzz, after suffering most of the season with bad decisions and dropping to a rank of 1m after being in the top 1k last season..i finally made significant strides last week moving to 500k 🙂

Currently can field 11 for gw 30 and have 2FTs left...thoughts on how to use the FT?

    Lloris
    Wolscheid Williams Daniels Simpson
    Alli Mahrez Arnautovic
    Kun Kane Vardy

    Courtois payet sanchez souare

    1) Souare seems the obvious person to get rid of?
    A) If so, souare >> defender who has a game in gw30...incase alli doesnt play this gw
    B) souare >> def who has a blank in gw30 and future dgw

Can someone confirm I have this correct please . Only current teams with dgw 34 and no blank 35 are LIV NEW and WBA. Team who could fall into this category are MCI if they get dgw 34 and some losing FA cup quarter finalists?

    Otamendi or Kompany?

How big of a risk is rotation with the other CBs? as it seems that he likes to pick up Bonus more than Kompany... Thoughts?

People who study stats apt seem to go for Otamendi for bonus points etc. my gut says Kompany and I know it's sometime ago but his start to the season was brilliant.

Neither are worth it imo. The best way into a defence is the cheapest way. In this case, I'd consider Hart. Much more likely to start too.

      1. F_Ivanovic
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 10 months ago

I disagree. Goal + bonus threat from defenders make their extra price worth it. Hart will mostly only ever get 6 or 7 points when he gets a CS. However, I've had to make do with Hart because I needed a GK this week so no point bringing in a city defender for me.

Goals and baps- how often do defenders score them? Once every 10 games if you look at the stats.

Besides, Bad K will be crocked at some point so why anyone would want him, beats me.

Guys, relax on the DGW 34 planning. Wait for fixtures. Imagine getting NEW and MCI players and finding out their DGW is 37 not 34...

Also for those counting towards BB DGW 34...

If you count the points loss from inferior players (NEW) I am not convinced the points gained from BB is worth it.

BB is worth 12 average in a SGW
    DGW BB is 24

Is the extra 12 ever worth a WC or inferior players stinking up you team for weeks? Even an extra hit -4 due to an injury or card or to rid a DGW player after 34 and your DGW BB benefit is in the single digits.

I agree to a point but you get lucky and the players perform above average on bench boost it is workers it. Agree triple up on New right now is just silly. However I can see LIV MCI and EVE bandwagon if they and CRY lose this weekend. Fixtures hopefully announced. I don't want to think about the mess I am in if man city get 37 and not 34.

If you have your wc then it's no problemo.

Although having players from those teams are a necessity given their fixtures and form. A lot of us have planned well in advance of week 30 to make sure we are not short of players.

As Ozil is now out for the weekend, my 2 transfers (-4) to get 11 players has becomne a team of 10. I have a bench that i don't want to transfer, and the same for my midfield (want to keep hold of Ozil). My H2H opponent has had to make 3 transfers (-8) to have a full team, but as he also has Ozil, he will be down to 10. As it stands, i am 4 points up without a ball being kicked in anger. if he makes another transfer that goes to 8 points. As my only options are defensive transfers, i would have to be assured a clean sheet, goal or assist to reclaim the -4 cost. My defence is: VVD, Smith (bou) and Huth, with Delaney and Coleman on the bench. My Keeper is Forster. In a gameweek of only 5 matches, and with City playing away (always leak a goal or 2) , is there a nailed on clean sheet to be had, or does one just think of Ozil as earning 4 points by doing nothing?

Can you please use paragraphs - I am unable to read your post?

If you are having trouble reading, i could point you in the direction of either a school or an optician. As for paragraphs, i have used 1 paragraph as i am expressing 1 idea and consequences realting to it. if i had have expressed a seperate idea, then a seperate paragrah would have been in order.

        1. Jafalad

No, this is incorrect. Just because you wish to express a single idea, it does not necessarily require you to keep to one paragraph.
Although I am correcting your reply - and misuse of paragraphs - with a single idea, you will see that I have used another paragraph at this stage of my answer. The first paragraph introduces my intentions whilst this paragraph begins to develop my observation further.
Furthermore, as my answer explores your misuse of paragraphs, another paragraph is needed to develop my answer and reinforce with the appropriate evidence. It could be argued that the point in your post, "As it stands...," lends itself to a paragraph as you expand upon your intention from owning Ozil to your mini-league situation.
Likewise, another paragraph could be used for the summary part of your post ("In a gameweek...") just to allow us to breath and take in your post as we reflect on your situation.
In summary, it appears that you are averse to paragraphs and it is becoming clear that you have little knowledge of how to use one.

I just know that this week some defensive type will do a Huth and score 2, probably get a clean sheet too, and be selected by my H2H to put the boot in.

Just play the 10 and don't take any more hits you are up already as you say. Personally never look at H2H opponents until after the week starts. Just try to maximize each week as I see best and if good enough to beat H2H then so be it.

Could swap Delaney for someone. Palace are useless so even if whoever you bring in doesn't get a CS at the weekend, you're only down effectively 2 points and will probably make that up in long run by having a better defender.

    Play Williams or Alli?

    Current Lineup is:

    Llores
    Sagna-Fuchs-Williams-Daniels
    Siggy-Mahrez-Silva
    Kane-Aguero-Vardy
    Bench: Alli

    Morning chaps,

Are we likely to get confirmation of the MCY vs NEW DGW before this week's deadline?

Reason I ask is that it will likely determine when I WC, which in turn will affect my transfer decision this week, as follows:

    a) MCY vs NEW GW34 DGW confirmed
-> likely means I save my transfer this week to leave WCing in GW36 as an option
    b) no MCY vs NEW GW34 DGW
-> likely means I will WC in GW33, and will therefore do Elliot -> Butland/Lloris this week

    Whatcha reckon?

    Elliot
    Kompany, Wolly, Simpson
    Yaya, Mahrez, Alli, Arnie
    Aguero, Kane, Vardy

    Hennessey, Sanchez, Bellerin, JEvans
    Bank 1.5m, 1FT

    Silva, Siggy, Yaya..
    WC in GW 33 probably.

Anything that separates the above trio to make them the best bet?

I have the first 2 - if I had to choose silva but Siggy fixture are nice. WC 33 you could even get KDB in he could be back by then.

Moreno to Otamendi should do me nicely this week.

Otamendi scored his solitary goal of the season against Norwich, loves playing against them.

Bit of advice here guys please.

    Butland
    Toby - Huth - Cameron - Bellerin**
    Mahrez - Alli - Sanchez**
    Kun - Kane - Vardy

    Mignolet, payet,ward,Stan 2ft 0itb

    A) bellerin + Sanchez > Kompany + Siggy
    B) Sanchez + Stan > siggy + Arnie (means playing 3 Stoke)
    C) bellerin + Sanchez > Willams + Silva
    D) any other suggestions

    Thanks in advance.

everyone is talking about wild card before Gameweek 34 (DGW)

but, If we load the players of the team who has DGW 34 then what about Blank Gameweek 35????

Yep. You'd have load of blank 35 players.

Yes but you have these options. Right now LIV and WBA will have double and no blank. If man city and Newcastle get 34 they will not blank 35. Add to this some losing quarter finalists will not blank 35 and you have bones of a team. I will likely aim for 11 like this for 34 and 4 players who will blank 35 so have something ready for dgw 37.
