Wednesday night culminates now with a visit to the Weekly Shop, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As per usual, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Stoke host a Southampton team that have struggled for goals on the road of late. The Saints have only notched three times in their last seven away ties and with Shane Long expected to remain sidelined along with Charlie Austin, their chances of finding the net look slim at the Britannia. Jack Butland’s (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $3,700) form may have faltered but a clean sheet against Newcastle in the Potters’ last home clash was a fifth shut-out in nine in front of their own fans – with Ryan Shawcross potentially available, there’s every chance that shut-out tally will be increased by the weekend.

Bournemouth have hit a promising patch of form, picking up seven points in their last three outings, while conceding just once. At St James’ in their last fixture, Charlie Daniels (FantasyBet 4.5m, DraftKings $4,600) netted a third goal of the campaign, while five assists as well this season highlights his points potential at both ends of the pitch as Swansea travel to Dean Court.

After scoring three and serving up as many assists over a five-week period, Christian Eriksen (FantasyBet 8.5m) has now blanked in three consecutive Gameweeks. The Dane’s ability from dead-ball situations could come in useful, though, against an Aston Villa side that have conceded the second-highest number of attempts from set pieces (24) over the last four Gameweeks.

Manchester City will be hopeful of recording their first back-to-back wins since October as they make the trip to a Norwich side that have picked up just a single point in nine matches and have let in 12 goals in four at Carrow Road. David Silva (FantasyBet 10m) earned attacking returns for the first time in six league appearances last week, creating two of the goals in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa, whilst Yaya Toure’s (FantasyBet 8.5m) strike in that encounter also broke a long drought, with his seventh goal of the campaign arriving after seven league outings without returns. Both midfielders should see this match as a chance to build up some form for the run-in.

Riyad Mahrez has been the Foxes main threat away from home, with his weekend winner securing all three points at Watford last time out. Nonetheless, Jamie Vardy’s (FantasyBet 7.5m) contribution at home has been ruthlessly consistent. The forward has been involved in over 50% of the Foxes goals at the King Power this term, notching 11 goals and two assists over 14 matches, and that record should be extended against a Magpies outfit that have conceded 13 goals in six consecutive away defeats.

Poundstretchers

Vardy and Mahrez are taking the majority of plaudits for the league leaders’ spectacular season, but seven clean sheets in the last 11 matches, compared to three shut-outs over the previous 18, shows that Claudio Ranieri’s defence have been equally vital to their title tilt. Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m) and Christian Fuchs (FantasyBet 4.5m) are our prime candidates for inclusion, with visitors Newcastle have scored just twice in their last six on the road.

Although Spurs have now gone four matches without a clean sheet, they’ve had some tough fixtures over that spell, having faced the three teams directly below them in the table. A trip to Villa Park hands them the chance to earn a tenth shut-out of the campaign and Kevin Wimmer (FantasyBet 4.5m) offers a bargain route into their back four.

Bournemouth provide us with a host of budget options ahead of the home clash with Swansea. Matt Ritchie (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $6,600) was highly rated as Bournemouth embarked on their first foray into the Premier League and, while a slow start somewhat dampened his Fantasy appeal, recent form – a goal and three assists over the last six – has made him the top-scoring Cherries midfielder. Meanwhile Josh King (FantasyBet Midfielder 4.5m, DraftKings Forward $4,200) and forward Max Gradel (FantasyBet 5.5m, DraftKings $4,600) have also impressed of late, with the former bagging a goal and assist in the win at Newcastle. Picking between the trio may end up coming down to available funds but with their target man Benik Afobe (FantasyBet 6m, DraftKings $4,700) also making a promising start to his top-flight career, including one or more of Eddie Howe’s attacking assets looks good value this week.

The match at Carrow Road throws up a pair of differentials to consider. Nathan Redmond (FantasyBet 5m) scored in his previous home match against Chelsea and is the top midfielder for shots in the box over the last three – he faces a City defence with two clean sheets in seven on the road. After starting against Aston Villa, Wilfried Bony (FantasyBet 8m) may also be worth selecting for the trip to Norwich. The City striker has scored four goals and served up three assists this campaign despite limited pitch time and could partner Sergio Aguero in a 4-4-2 again at Carrow Road, with Manuel Pellegrini likely to have one eye on the midweek Champions League fixture against Kiev.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

I like your WHM double up in midfield. Must have paid off nicely in recent weeks I know fixtures hard but stillihjt be a good punt. However sensible boring option is replace one with a City mid. For bench this week I think VVD

The WHM double-up has sure worked for me and I have got their points haul too. I would like to keep them and survive the GW without a transfer, as it could be very handy in the week/s to come.
        Thank you!

    If Liv, Ars, WH and Mcy end up having dgw34, it will be pain to decide who to leave out of my wc midfield;
    Ozil, Sanchez, Yaya/Silva, Firmino, Payet

Only way out of this is that city gets their double for gw37 🙁

    Hart (Hennessey)
    Dier Fuchs Williams Cedric (Ward)
    Alli Mahrez Siggy (Ozil, Antonio)
    Kane Vardy Aguero

    1FT 4m in bank.

currently can get 11 out, however worried about cedric.

Considering Cedric to Kompany to make sure I get 11 out and this also maximises future double gameweeks.

Or I play it safe and being silva/Yaya in for ozil/Antonio and drop cedric to bench.

    Any input appreciated, thanks!

Cedric to Kompany sounds like a good move! I am tempted to bring in a City mid but I wouldn't want to get rid of Antonio/Ozil if I plan on bringing them back.

"On Wednesday Newcastle scrapped plans to stage a press conference previewing the trip to Leicester which had been pencilled in for for Thursday".... and they now hope Benítez will address the media over the weekend.

This has created the almost farcical situation of a coach who is in effect a dead man walking preparing the team for Monday night’s trip to Leicester City"

After watching the scoutcast, I am slowly coming round to the idea of Mahrez(c) 😯 Normally always (c) a fit Kun against anybody but it's getting a bit boring. And the last time I had this doubt and didn't go through with it, Kane out scored a Kun blank. 🙁

Well, Villa obviously. But set pieces and recent performances are also tempting me. Villa would line up defensively and play deep. Eriksen is good from range and usually comes up with break throughs in tight games.

Long time no see boys!! Been away in Oz for the week.

I can field this team for GW30 currently:

    Butland (SOU)
Alderweireld (avl) - Fuchs (NEW) - Daniels (SWA) - Targett (stk)
Sigurdsson (bou) - Mahrez (NEW) - Alli (avl)
Aguero (nor) - Kane (avl) - Vardy (NEW)

    Forster - Özil - Firmino - Bellerin

This only gives me 11 if Targett plays, and I'm not overly keen on a 4-3-3 anyway. I have 1FT and believe my options are:

    A) Bellerin > Kompany (avl) - Setting myself for a DGW too, but Bellerin has just finally delivered!
    B) Firmino > Yaya/Silva (nor) - But I have a little value tied up in Firmino (0.2 loss) and I'd likely want him back for the DGW, although another City attacker would be good for the DGW too.
    C) Ozil > Anyone - Really not keen as I'll certainly want him back and will lose 0.7
    D) Leave it, and swallow the potential for fielding 10 (not at all keen)

Let's have your thoughts guys, if you don't mind.... 🙂

Loads!! Could upgrade Targett to anyone.

Not overly sure about spending even more cash on my defence. It's pretty pricy as it is.

I suppose Toby is likely to go for the DGW... It's an interesting alternative.

Biblical?!!! I suppose you could argue that monotheism is essentially one religion but plenty of people seem to disagree.

Option B : Sell Ozil for Silva (play 4-3-3)

    Butland
    Simpson / Alderweireld / Kompany / Wollscheid

Morning. Couple of questions for the community's finest brains :
    a) Do the Europa League winners gain a qualifying or automatic spot for the Champions League ?
    b) If (and it's, admittedly, a big if) either Liverpool, United or Spurs won it AND finished outside the Top 4, would they take the place of the 4th placed team ?

      Qualifying and no

Yes EL gets champions league spot now. English and Welsh premier league would have 5 places if this happens.

The only way 4th place loses its cl spot is if a pl teams wins both cl and EL and both finish outside top 4.

Yeah very difficult but it could have happened this year if Chelsea won cl and liv or utd won EL and both winners finished outside top 4.

No more than 5 clubs can be in the champions league,so it wouldn't matter on 4th, unless say Chelsea has won the champions league (obvs theyre knocked out but e.g) so thats laright

The GW27 game Stoke missed who is it?
Also with Stoke playing a Monday game GW34. Will it mean their rearranged fixture cannot be played that GW?

Stoke didn't miss a game in GW27, so don't have any DGW's, which is probably why their game against Spurs have been selected for the Monday night game in GW34.

My team atm with 1 FT and 2.7ITB is

    Forster (elliott)
    Williams Simpson Smith (Bellerin Azpi)
    Silva Siggy Mahrez Alli (Ozil)
    Aguero Kane Vardy

i have 2 options this week

    A. Play smith (SWA) and keep azpi for WHU avl SWA before the DGW. Maybe transfer in Kompany in case of DGW34
    B. Azpi to Kompany and play him for nor MUN bou WBA before the DGW. This also allows me one bench player this GW.
