With only five fixtures in Gameweek 30, there’s bound to some overlap in our FantasyBet squads this week. Selecting a line-up with the right blend of populist and contrarian picks that deliver winning totals is likely to come down to the very finest of margins.

At least the fixtures provide us with some intriguing differentials to go alongside the ever-present big-hitters. Norwich could have some surprises in store for Man City at Carrow Road, given that Manuel Pellegrini’s side have struggled on the road this campaign. Swansea and Bournemouth are in good shape ahead of their Dean Court encounter, with both clubs seeking third successive victories.

Southampton head to the Britannia looking for a win that would see them climb above their eighth-placed hosts. Stoke, however, have won four and drawn one of the last six in front of their own fans and boast superior form. Spurs have a crucial trip to Aston Villa if their title bid is to be maintained after going two matches without a win.

Finally, Leicester City can mount more pressure on their rivals by picking up what on paper looks like a guaranteed three points as a struggling Newcastle travel to the King Power on Monday evening.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses a similar scoring and pricing system.

Check out this daily and weekly fantasy guide to see how the game works.

MY TEAM

Jack Butland (4.5m)
Christian Fuchs (4.5m)
Charlie Daniels (6m)
Toby Alderweireld (6.5m)
Matt Ritchie (5.5m)
Riyad Mahrez (6.5m)
Christian Eriksen (8.5m)
David Silva (10m)
Jamie Vardy (7.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Sergio Aguero (13m)

KEY PICKS

Jack Butland: Although he failed to keep a clean sheet at Chelsea last weekend, the Stoke keeper appeared to be back to his best and recorded six or more saves for the sixth time this season. Butland’s prospects are also boosted by the potential return of Ryan Shawcross against Southampton – the Potters have kept seven shut-outs in their skipper’s ten full appearances this term.

Charlie Daniels: The Bournemouth full-back is now second only to Toby Alderweireld in the defender rankings as Swansea travel to Dean Court. A goal at Newcastle continued an extraordinary run in which the Daniels has averaged seven points per appearance over the last eight – two goals, three assists and a trio of clean sheets from Gameweek 22 onwards highlights his potential at both ends of the pitch.

David Silva: With just a single goal to his name, it’s been an underwhelming campaign for City’s playmaker, who found the net on 12 occasions in 2014/15. Nonetheless, two assists last time out took his tally to ten for the current season and indicates that Silva’s creativity will be a potent weapon against a porous Norwich outfit.

Harry Kane: After scoring a single goal in the opening nine matches, the forward’s instinctive finishing in the North London Derby led to a sixteenth league strike in his past 20 outings. Spurs’ title challenge may depend on Kane maintaining that rate of scoring and a trip to Villa Park offers the chance of a sizeable points haul.

THIS WEEK’S GAME PICKS

There is a Double-Up contest covering all five fixtures that has a £3.30 buy-in with a £120 pot on offer.

The Grand Weekend contest only misses the match at Carrow Road, so line-ups can be entered right up until the 3pm kick-offs. It’s £11 to enter for a chance to win part of the £1000 guaranteed prize money.

There is also a Weekend Flash game, a format that gives participants a unique list of players to select from and a three-minute window to pick your line-up. It’s a £5.50 stake for entry into a £250 guaranteed pot.

LAST WEEK

A fifth-placed finish in the double-up and the Scout Picks placing sixth from 112 entrants represented some progress, with my pot going back over the £150-mark. Rich won the free-roll but narrowly missed out on a 100-point total, finishing a single point short with a 4-3-3 formation in which only one player scored less than six points. Riyad Mahrez, Dimitri Payet and Gylfi Sigurdsson formed a formidable midfield trio that bought in 34 points between them.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

I’m entering the Double-Up contest, the Weekend Flash game and entering a team into the FFScout Picks League for a total outlay of £11.

In addition, I’ll be going up against Ringwraith, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks. He will be taking me on in a specially set up head to head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22.

Also the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

JCMC’s topped the Scout Picks League with a score of 103 points. All four of his midfielders scored 10 or more points, while Virgil Van Dijk, Charlie Daniels and Ashley Williams also provided eight or more points apiece in a very effective 4-4-2 line-up. Well done also to Dada, who followed up last week’s win with a 100-point haul and a second-place finish.

Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League. With a £1.10 stake for entry, it is now possible to enter two teams into this contest. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

    Hey guys,

It looks like the person who won the chance to be the scout picks champion hasn't submitted their team on time and unfortunately there's not enough time to get someone else sorted to enter so I'm going to be up against the rest of the scouts.

I've genuinely not checked the scout picks team for this week, although I can guess some of the players that will be included.

I'd like to get the communities help to come up with a suitable 11 to win this thing!

    Budget is 84m

Here's a base 11 I came up with. Thoughts? Changes?

    Schmeichel

    Daniels - Rose - Kolarov

    Mahrez - Sterling - Shaqiri - Eriksen - Mane

    Aguero - Kane

Oh I see, apologies. But there's still scope for differentials without picking those uncertain to start. I see Leicester struggling to break down New on Monday, so Janmaat could be a real differential!

I genuinely would put Shane Long in. He's fit and Stoke are exactly the sort of team he tends to score against.

I haven;t seen the scout picks either btw. This is an XI I'd consider. Walker instead of Rose for certainty of starts. Forget ManC defence - can see Norwich scoring. Love the Shaqiri pick.

Long is my dullard version of Mane. 😉

Remember this is in an attempt to beat the scoutpicks - I'm pretty sure Fuchs will be in there.

      Butland
      Huth - Otamendi - Daniels
      Mahrez - Sterling - Shaqiri - Eriksen - Alli
      Aguero - Kane

Not really set on Alli. I have a feeling Redmond will be in the picks and they won't double on Spurs midfield so it'll be Alli chosen. It's why I only had Eriksen originally.

Playing Kolarov & Rose may be risky if they don't start.

      Wouldn't bother with Mane personally.

Got to go for Vardy at home with that record.

      I'd do the following:

Yeah Walker could be a good shout for security, but if Rose plays I think he has a better chance at attacking returns.

Really fancy Stoke to beat Southampton this week, double is probably a bit much though.. I really like the Shaq pick.

          Any interest in King?
Also Alli has much better away form than home form and it don't get much better than Villa away.
3 spuds are necessary anyways. at least 2 stoke imo, 3 leicester, at least 1 bournemouth..

Aguero, Kane, Mahrez and Daniels are all likely to be in the Scout Picks, so look for alternatives to these if possible.

I'd say they definitely will be but I don't want to go full 11 v 11 differential. Kane, Aguero and Mahrez could really punish a team without.

Daniels is my hero right now so he's in 🙂

I think the Scout Picks will be extremely difficult to beat this week, especially with the small number of fixtures, three of which should be very one-sided.

I hope so anyway, because there is a severe danger that they might be almost identical to my own team.

Kolarov will not start, imo. Fuchs instead. Trade Mane by Hoolahan, City will not have CS

Hart( Norwich are attacking but he looks on good form)
Daniels( East is reffing so penos look likely and he's just very goo)
      Huth( Goal threat)
Wollscheid ( nailed on, occasional bonus and Southampton appear impotent)
      Mahrez (Mahrez)
      Arnie(propensity for double figure hauls)
      Redmond( nice punt)
      Alli (away to villa....)
Vardy (Benitez is a good manager not a miracle worker)
      Aguero
      Kane

Toby Kane Alli Fuchs mahrez vardy kun Silva Hart
          Vvd Daniels siggy

Differentials can be sterling for Silva Eriksen for Alli & a Bournemouth mid to replace vardy

Can't see an inform 3rd striker, probably go 3-5-2?

      Schmeichel
      Daniels - Walker - Kolarov
      Mahrez - Sterling - Shaqiri - Eriksen - King
      Aguero - Kane

How about this? I quite like the idea of a Bournemouth mid but think Ritchie might get picked this week.

Walker in for Rose who might not play. Surely it's Kolarov's turn to get a game though?

Worth a hit for XI, or roll with 10? 1FT

    Forster
    Kompany Huth Wimmer
    Mahrez Alli
    Aguero Kane Vardy

    Sanchez Ozil Stanislas Nyom Moreno

I was thinking getting Francis in, then either Daniels or King for the hit. Seems a good opportunity to deal with the injured Stanislas, so the hit in reality should only cost me 2 points...

    Thoughts?

Aguero, Kane and Mahrez are my top (C) candidates. All playing teams fighting for survival.

    Rank in order of importance the following you would consider in picking your (C);

    A. Most likely to cause an upset.
    B. Home and away stats of captain and opponent.
    C. Fixture congestion and game time of captain.
    D. Kick off time (early KO, MNF, etc.)
    E. Number of possible point scorers other than your captain.
    F. Gut feeling
    G. Managers playing style.

A - Norwich more likely to cause an upset. Villa bereft! Kane 1-0
B - Really similar between Villa + Norwich. Dead heat.
C - Think both Kane and Kun will play the duration. But City have had a week off whereas Spurs have travelled. Kun wins. 1-1
D - I hate the early kick off - personal thing. Perhaps the difference is overstated. For me, Kane wins here - 2-1
E - Less distributed for Kun. Kane has a tendency to play deeper sometimes, but equally most goals will go through him. Narrow Kun win 2-2.
F - Villa more likely to capitulate than Norwich. Norwich actually playing for something whereas Villa have given up and are in a total mess. Kane 3-2.
G - Poch loves the gegenpress whereas Pelle is more laissez faire - lets the players do what they want a bit more imo. Dead heat.

      Just about Kane. Just about.

No worries, buddy. To be honest, a lot of it comes down to personal interpretation - for me, it's a hatred of the early captaincy (weekend loses some of its shine if your captain fails!) and the fact that Villa aren't fighting anymore vs. Norwich actually being fired up pushes me Kaneward.

A major caveat is that if Kane had played the full 90 against Dortmund I would have put it on Kun.

No it doesn't! I really liked the way Beg to Differ won last time out. Glad your review has highlighted that one. Will you be reviewing each day? I'm very excited.

If there is enough interest then yes I will. No of up votes will determine whether I preview each day. I would plan on posting the stats horses the night before. Just view my profile page to check if there's anything there.

With such a small pool of players to choose from this week, I see very similar scores from all on here with only a few scenarios separating us:

    Penalty save?!
    Defender attacking returns
    Alli v Eriksen
    Yaya v Silva (Silva wins!)
    Kane v Aguero captain

    Any more?!

Looking to ship Payet for a short term, then bring him back in GW32/WC 33. The question is who do I get in:

    A) Eriksen
    B) Silva

Just looking at Silva as my Yaya replacement - he has 1 goal all season, and his only attacking points away from home are a single assist away to West Brom in the first game of the season! I knew he'd been disappointing but that's pretty shocking, even if he's missed a few games...
