Tuesday’s double Gameweek announcements plays a major part in our assessment of the weekend’s fixtures as Fantasy managers start to plan for their wildcards. Arsenal and City’s midfields, Guus Hiddink and Jurgen Klopp’s teamsheets, Jamie Vardy’s stuttering form and West Ham’s options up top all find their way onto our Thursday lunchtime menu.

Sanchez’ form ahead of the double…
A goal and assist in in his last two league outings suggests that the Chilean may yet have a part to play in our Fantasy seasons. As Arsenal lick their wounds following last night’s Champions League exit, Sanchez now heads to an Everton outfit that have conceded 26 times in front of their own fans – more than any other side. With Arsenal’s kind schedule including two home fixtures in double Gameweek 34, those planning to wield their wildcards may well consider a gamble is worthwhile if the former Barcelona man can find his form again.

…and Yaya’s…
With injuries and rotation blighting the City defence ahead of their double, many Fantasy managers will be happy to focus solely on Manuel Pellegrini’s attack. Given that Kevin de Bruyne will step up his fitness drive over the international break, the competition for our wildcard attention soon looks set to intensify as the Belgian returns to battle it out with Yaya Toure and David Silva. At a cost of 8.5, Toure is priced far kinder than both De Bruyne (10.3) and Silva (9.9) and a return to form for the Ivorian could prove very handy as we look to balance our wildcard budgets.

Hiddink’s team sheet with only pride to play for…
Out of all cup competitions and comfortably ensconced in the security of mid-table, Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge with doubts over Eden Hazard’s fitness and Diego Costa suspended. With Guus Hiddink set to leave over the summer, will he afford some youngsters more pitch time over the run-in? The likes of Bertrand Traore, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Kenedy have all earned minutes over the same two Gameweeks, with the former starting on both occasions. Given his classification as a midfielder and price of 5.4, Traore’s pitch time will be eagerly monitored as we consider our wildcards for the doubles.

Sakho’s minutes for the Hammers…
Handed a 30-minute cameo off the bench against Everton in the previous Gameweek, the Senegal striker helped spark a dramatic comeback by bagging a goal and assist in a 3-2 win. With Emmanuel Emenike yet to score in five league appearances and Andy Carroll netting twice in his last 14, the Hammers are in desperate need for a more consistent striker in their bid for a top-four finish. With three home matches over double Gameweeks 34 and 37, a fully-fit Sakho – priced at just 6.2 – could rival Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio for our wildcard attentions.

Vardy’s place in our forward lines…
Whilst Leicester’s bid for the title has maintained momentum, the same can’t be said for their top scorer. Vardy has now served up a single goal in the last six Gameweeks and bearing in mind that the Foxes don’t have any doubles, many are earmarking him as the man to make way for Romelu Lukaku in our three-man frontlines. Up next, though is a trip to a Palace side that’s lost five on the spin at Selhurst Park before three home clashes and a trip to Sunderland in the subsequent four. Given he’s the most popular forward in FPL, with over 54% ownership, a big display against the Eagles may well persuade some to think twice over selling.

The Hornets front two…
With a single goal in his last ten league appearances, Odion Ighalo has been subject to a major exodus and dropped in price from 6.4 to 5.9 in FPL. Ighalo’s weekend opener in the 2-1 FA Cup win at Arsenal will have given his confidence a shot in the arm, though, and with Troy Deeney bagging two assists against the Gunners, the Watford attack could be back in form as they brace themselves for a pair of doubles. Given that Quique Sanchez Flores’ men have failed to score in seven of the last nine, though, we’ll need a lot of convincing before reconsidering in their goal-getters.

Rondon’s chance to stake a claim…
Four goals and an assist in his last six appearances underlines the West Brom frontman’s remarkable turnaround in form. With Saido Berahino back on board up top, Rondon has flourished as part of a front two and notched against the likes of Everton, Leicester and United over that recent run. With back-to-back clashes against Norwich and Sunderland, the Venezuelan has the chance to continue his momentum as we size up our options up front.

Siggy against Villa’s defence…
In three of the last four Gameweeks, Villa’s backline has been more than obliging for those looking to invest in their respective opponents. Marko Arnautovic, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane have all delivered double-figure hauls against Remi Garde’s doomed outfit over that period and with a trip to Swansea up next, Gylfi Sigurdsson sits second only to Kane in this week’s Captain Poll. The Icelandic international is looking to bag his third double-figure return in four home appearances and may well be the next to benefit from the tactic of backing whoever plays Villa next.

Rafa’s Newcastle…
The Spaniard was unable to halt the Leicester juggernaut last Monday as Newcastle fell to defeat in his first match in charge. Benitez will take solace in the fact that the Magpies restricted the league leaders to a single shot on target, though, ahead of a vital six-pointer with Sunderland. Given that a win over their rivals would take the Tyneside team out of the bottom three and above Big Sam’s men, we’re looking for Benitez’ main protagonists to step up as we assess their form ahead of double Gameweek 34.

Klopp’s teamsheet…
As the only team currently set to play two double Gameweeks and also to feature in Gameweek 35, Liverpool look primed for wildcard investment. With one eye on the Europa League, Klopp has relied heavily on rotation and has started Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge in just one of the last three, leaving Roberto Firmino as our chief target amongst the Merseysiders’ attackers. With this evening’s clash against United preceding a trip to St Mary’s, will the German continue to chop and change up top again? We also have one eye on the Liverpool defence, with the fit-again Jon Flanagan now placing question marks over the pitch time of Klopp’s full-backs.

Bournemouth’s form against the fixtures…
Having racked up three wins and a draw in the last four, the Cherries are very much a team in form as they look to seal their survival. A weekend trip to Spurs, however, kick-starts a dire run of fixtures that may well persuade Charlie Daniels owners to part company and keep our interest in their flourishing midfield to a minimum. With City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, West Brom and United also still to follow, it leaves just one kind remaining fixture – a Gameweek 33 trip to Villa. Can Eddie Howe’s side prevail at the Lane or it is time to looks elsewhere?

          Same situation.

SUrman>Firmino is where I'm going and playing AOA.

Leaves a benching dilemma next week, but I'll be punting hard with 2FTs anyway.

    DGWK 34 Defenders

Who will play both games? Just some very basic early notes on defenders at four key teams during the DGWK 34.

    Liverpool

    Safe

Mignolet – He’s missed just one Premier League game. Given the alternative keepers are poor he should play both.
Clyne - looks the safest outfield bet. He’s missed just one Premier League clash (GWK 29) due to rotation. Started every other game

    Man City

    Safe

Hart – should be nailed on
Clichy – since Kolarov has failed to start even during fixture congestion the former Arsenal man looks to have cemented a first team berth.
Otamendi-In Kompany’s absence he should start

    Man U

    Safe

De Gea and Smalling ate the only truly safe bets here. Keep an eye on injuries though as there is plenty of value in the defence.

    Arsenal

    Safe

Bellerin is the safest option, with Monreal and Gibbs continuing to rotate. At centre back Koscielny is at the head of the queue but it looks unlikely that Mertesacker and Gabriel will play both games. I think Koscielny looks secure should he remain fit.

      Man City - Sagna

Everyone doubts he's first choice when he clearly is this season. He was injured recently when Zaba got a few run outs, and he can even fill in at CB if needed. 5.9m with a good assist potential as City look more attacking down the right flank when Kolarov isn't starting.

I hope he is too. Would add to the pool of players. I didn't put him in as Zabaleta has started in place of him on the odd occasion, whereas Kolarov seemingly looks completely out of favour.

Hard to go with two Liverpool defenders but we really need to get 3 Pool in somehow.

Man C are just a minefield to me I would not trust a rotation at any time bar Hart/Kompany

Agree on Man U though both are pricey

Glad I have had Bellerin a long time - 2 Arsenal attackers to fit in with him currently on Sanchez may double with Ozil if I have the pennies.

      LIV

      MUN

      De Gea and Samlling

      MCI

      Hart, Otamendi

Aguero, Lukaku and Ighalo, not sure nows the time to be punting, sticking with the strikers that have performed for more than 4 or 5 weeks.

This. I think alot of people are overhyping the double gameweeks. Kane has west brom at home in gameweek 35 and can score against anyone. Somebody like Rondon has just blanked against Norwich at home so I'm not going to be taking out Kane because of one extra role of the dice on a player I wouldn't want otherwise

Watford away (Brom are tight, Ham are difficult and motivated), West Brom's 2nd is Arsenal.

The other two are Kun and Lukaku ... or Martial, depending on his form.

What do you think about this WC GW 33 and BB GW 34 team?

    de Gea Mignolet
    Monreal Bellerin Rojo Moreno Clichy
    Mahrez Firmino Özil Barkely Antonio

      6 blanks for GW35

Therefore, you'd have to transfer out 2 GW37 players to get a full 11. Also, you'd then have to use 4 transfers between GW36/37 to get a full 11 out for GW37 (if all goes well, no injuries/rotation issues).

Controversial statement: without the Palace game, neither of Everton's DGWs are actually that good.

Not the best, but they scored 12 goals in the 4 reverse fixtures against their 34 and 37 DGW opponents. That said all those defence's are now better so only Lukaku and maybe Robles for me though.

Derby game should be a goal fest, and I fancy at least 1 clean sheet out of either Sunderland & Leicester games.

And unless I am mistaken they still have another fixture to squeeze in at some point no?

      1. Pompel

And that extra fixture is CPL., will probably be GW35 or GW36 I hear

Yes, the do still have away to Crystal Palace to schedule in. And yes, Anfield might be a goal fest, but the other fixtures are against tight teams - Southampton with their defensive record, away at Leicester who have conceded 2 in 7 home games, and at a Sunderland team where Allardyce is slowly turning the screw.

Leicester needs to win 6 out of the 7 remaining matches to get the title if Spurs keep winning.

That means Everton might not have an easy match against Leicester in the dgw if that happens.

Lukaku to blank probably but we'll see how it goes

Exactly; a Leicester team needing a win to seal the title, and a Sunderland team still scrapping for their lives.

There's approximately a 0 percent chance of spurs winning all 8 of their remaining fixtures. But I get what you're saying.

Leicester and Spurs might get a draw result in different gw (or maybe at the same time) so it really depends on guesswork now.

Sunderland is more likely to park the bus in dgw37 if Newcastle is still very close to them. The importance of getting away from relegation.

Swansea looks certainly safe now unlike Crystal Palace.

    Feedback?

GW33 WC plan, I have no bench boost but can play 11 DGWers in 34 and 10 DGWers in 37 with this:

    DDG, Schmeichel
    Bellerin, Clyne, Cresswell, Simpson, Bertrand
    Ozil, Firmino, Antonio, Sanchez, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Aguero, Martial

    Planned transfers (no hits)
    35: Antonio > M'Vila,
    36: Bertrand > Moreno,
37: Sanchez, Simpson > Barkley, Azpi,
    38: Firmino > Sanchez

I only have ten players for GW35 if I don't. The only teams to play in 35 with a double in 37 are Sun, Che and Liv and I can't afford any other mids. I only plan to play him for 35 and the 37 DGW (I could take a hit to bring Antonio back in for him though)

I would rather play with 10 than get M'Vila. I'm sure you will get more points just keeping Antonio or using the transfer on someone else.

Yeah that's an option, I will have 2 FT at that point anyway and will use one. Probably to get 11 out that week (could possibly bring a defender in for Cresswell instead and play 5 at the back) or bring in a GW37 DGWer and play 10 that week.

I will triple captain in GW34, the fixtures look better to me but could maybe be swayed by Lukaku in 37 (lei/sun). I don't like 37 so much since I expect lots of rotation and unpredictability from teams with little to play for. Tried to stick to players that are as nailed as possible.

Cheaper, pens, and Ighalo has hit a rut. Granted so has Deeney. There's very little to choose between the two. Personally I'd go Ighalo as Deeney tends to play deeper and Ighalo gets on the end of things.

      So currently I have:

      No Liverpool
1 of United, West Ham or Watford (Lingard)
5 of City, Arsenal, West Brom and Newcastle.

And no WC. Used 2 transfers this week to bring in Rondon and Wijnaldum as they have some decent fixtures before 34 that I want to take advantage of.

I've decided I'm going to keep Alli and possibly Dier - which would lead me to getting rid of Wolly, Smith, Van Djik, Kane and Siggy. (my other GK is Hennessey, so atm I don't have a DGW goalkeeper for 37 who has terrible fixtures for 35 but will prob have to make do - should have kept Gomes instead when I brought in Hart)

5 (possibly 6) transfers in 3 GW. So will have to take 2 or 3 4 point hits - I may take an 8 point hit in 34 itself.

I also have to think about my H2H leagues - they're not much money (only a fiver in one which I've pretty much lost already and a tenner in just a H2H league with a mate) which means I can't afford to take hits that I don't think have a decent chance of paying off that specific week.

Thinking atm of bringing in Firmino, a Liverpool + United defender and striker likely to be Martial. And I guess an Arsenal defender will have to be in there so I can have 3 defenders in GW35.

Hello there. Anyone else look like they have looked at so many different permutations for paying their WC's and tactics for the DGW's tat they haven't a clue?

I have only made one conclusion. If the remaining game is announced in GW 36 I would find it difficult to do a GW36 WC as I would be wanting to triple captain that week.

Really don't like what trying to do a 15 man BB in 34 does to your playing staff for he rest of the season. But it is the best time to use it taken out of context for sure

After looking at all the odds gw33 set for me.. merits outweigh cons here... and allows you to field 11 a piece for the rest of the gws and also a punt or 2 in between with careful planning..

my draft tells me i will have 2 FTs extra and 11 a piece for gw35-38... even with CP/EVE i will have who i need. I wont have any CP 😉

It is doable for sure. I am struggling to see the benefit of bench boosting some of these payers in tbh. Especially when you have to sit with some of them in your side for the rest of the season. Looking at you saying I know I am crap but I am a sign of your folly

Not necessary is it... you will have some FTs to play with and a few hits if needed.. with dgw you can afford a hit or two without a major knock on your ranks.

and remember no international break between 34 to 38.. 🙂

A fair point. I do have a 3rd way of course but it depends upon when this extra gameweek gets decided

Honestly, I'm pretty happy with the 15 players I can bring in for the WC BB. It's unfortunate that I won't have Leicester/Spurs coverage, given I've had 3 of each for so long, but Vardy has been far from prolific and Spurs aren't exactly a beacon of consistency; their away form is pretty bad. I'll have to play more off of form than fixtures for a week or two but I should get some really solid teams out still.

Those Moreno buyers, and to an extent Clyne, should factor that Flanagan is not in LFC's Europa League squad. Once they qualify tonight, the only opportunity for Flanagan to get some minutes, and for Moreno/Clyne to rest, is in the league.

Tricky if you need a Liverpol player for the rest of the games to pan out. If you want them nailed on get Skrtl but you will need to shave money elsewhere

So is Howard finished or what?

Annoying having a cheap goalkeeper in Robles with such a big question mark hanging over his head 😕

Him and Elliot rotate really well, only cost 8.3m and three DGWs between them 🙁

I'd prob have a FT knocking around but at worst, you'd imagine Elliot might get a few saves from that game

The struggle for me is trying to get through this weekend without using AOA. Would be a huge benefit to have it for GW33 with the midfield I intend to bring in

Just like on FM, when I gave my legendary Preston midfield regen, 7 times CL winner Seykou Diomande, the final home game aged 38 before he retired. After 19 years at the club, half of his life, it was the least he deserved - a former World Player of the Year signed on a free transfer.

He scored an own goal to lose us the game.

This is on the Kindle version, nowhere near as good, but can fly through seasons on my commute to work (I am often tempted to get on the wrong tube just to give me more time to play...). I'll never go back to the PC addiction:

Cash out now £30, or leave Johns Spirit e/w for a potential £190?

I reckon you take a look at some attacking per90 influence/efficacy stats. As surprising as it may be, Nasri was outstanding when he still played. Of course, a year off the job may have not treated him kindly, that we do not yet know.

Oh, I know. But he pissed of all his team mates, royally. As he has done, wherever he has gone.

He is a sort of more toxic version of Fabregas.

Hmm... care to elaborate. He seemed to do pretty well with the guys at Arsenal and at Marseille. Well enough that they missed him when he left. I have not heard him having angered the City team mates either.

Arsenal missed him??? That is not what I was told! 😀

Dunno too much about Marseille, I must confess - but there have been plenty of whispers out of the Citeh camp. Tbf, they stopped, when Pellegrini took charge, so maybe those were just a jealous team mate.

However, when you look at him on the pitch, the picture always seems to tell a story. Maybe it's just me. 🙂
