When you conjure up a list of goalscoring midfield options in the current Everton set-up, Jack Rodwell hardly springs to mind. Tim Cahill, Leon Osman, even on-loan Royston Drenthe has staked a claim for Fantasy consideration ahead of the precocious youngster. Goals have hardly been synonymous with his name- prior to this season, the twenty-year old had four campaigns under his belt for David Moyes’ side and found the net just twice in seventy-one league games.

The departure of Mikel Arteta on the final day of the August transfer window, however, while depriving the Toffees of a top-class playmaker, could well be the making of Rodwell. That’s according to Moyes himself, who feels the youngster has stepped up in responsibility in light of the Spaniard’s departure:

I think Jack’s feeling as if he might have to be one of the main men since Mikel left. Before, he was always just ‘the boy’. He has to take on that mantle and he’s just beginning to look as though he might be able to carry it. He’s got the ability to score with both feet and he’s a good striker of the ball. I think he’s beginning to believe a wee bit more. He’s beginning to understand a bit more about what is expected, as well. So, all round, there are good signs for Jack.

As the season unfolds, Rodwell is beginning to back up Moyes’ faith and his performances have hinted at attacking potential. Settling in alongside Marouane Fellaini in the heart of the Toffees midfield, he has been afforded a license to push on and has subsequently doubled his career goals for Everton in the past three gameweeks, with goals away to Fulham and Newcastle. Factor in an assist and 4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points and he’s returned 22 points, an average of 7.3 ppg between gameweeks 9 and 11.

We break down his performances over the past four gameweeks and using our own ICT Index and Opta stats available to members, analyse his overall improvement.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

why is rtaylor not a good choice compared to jose enrique for this gameweek...imo both will concede goals but rtaylor will be more threatful compared to jose enrique...?

Threatful? I like it, I might start using it. Honestly I think that they will be equally threatful. Rtaylor more likely to score goals but I think City have a better chance of keeping a clean sheet so Enrique is more likely to get an assist...

Chelsea and clean sheet don't really go, although if Carroll doesn't start for l'pool, they prob won't score either. Enrique has a much better clean sheet chance than Taylor.

FFS provide many suggestions and ideas, but the fair weather players still have to assess them for themselves and decide which of them to adopt. To try and adopt all of them would be a recipe for disaster.
The main problem this season was the extra wildcard in GW2 which allowed many of these fair weather players to set up a much stronger squad for GW2 than they had for GW1, thus reducing the advantage of those who had selected a strong GW1 squad already.

Agreed that did screw things up mightily - the game developers could not run a project if it bit them on the ass. All of our best laid plans went out the window and it really killed my love for this season. Admittedly FFS recommends some rubbish sometimes, but the extra help they give, coupled with the rubbish bonus system has finally done it for me.

PS I agree about the new bonus system being rubbish, though. It exaggerates the rewards for things like goals, assists, clean sheets and saves, which are all rewarded already, as well as giving too much credit for being on the winning side. But it does not reward skillful players who make other important contributions like assisting the assist, or setting up goal-scoring opporrtunities which are then wasted by their teammates, or controlling the midfield as a defensve midfielder.
And it shares around too many bonus points in low quality matches where none of the players stand out.
Perhaps it might be better if they abandoned the 3-2-1 bonus system and instead awarded bonus points for such things as key passes in the final third and completed clearances from the penalty area to another player on the same side, as in the fantasy world cup game.

remember signing in t'fpl on a Sat'day morning with me £1 spending money, popping Ronaldo in ma team for 9p, Gerrard used to be a dead cert at 8.5p and Dunne was best DF value at 5p... Then i'd go t'pictures for the matinee with me mates where we'd buy choc ices from woman who appeared during interval and then proceed to throw the litter over balcony, after we were kicked out, we'd nip in t'joke shop on corner, buy a load of stink bombs to throw at people in city centre...
and still have enough change to get the tram ride home to catch me beat all me mates to top of league...

Turner has a bit of goal threat, cheaper and seemingly secure. The emphasis being on ''seemingly'' with Bruce's thang for Bramble, who pulled out of the reserves the other night.

What the shit is up with the maps on COD. No sniper levels and i spawn and get shot copious times.

Anyway, hows this chicken katsu curry

    Vorm
    Enrique Richards Jones
    Nani VDV Silva Moses
    Ade RVP(C) Agbonlahor

    Krul Mcauly Ward Dyer

    Im thinking Krul -> Westwood & Agbonlahor -> Bendtner/Saha/Hoilett
or Nani -> Royston & Ade -> Rooney

Yeah sniping's been nerfed again in the latest COD installment...the spawning is also terrible, I agree...All in all, BF3 has the edge in its multiplayer.

I like the squad, and I vote for Krul to West and Gabby to Bendy

Keep Krul, Westwood and Vorm don't rotate. Agbonlahor > Bendtner is sensible looking at Villa's fixtures.

    Given-(Ruddy)
    Wilkinson-Walker -Enrique-(Simpson)- (Boyata(inj))
Walters- Ramsey -Silva -Van der Vaart-(Ferguson(doesn't start))
    Van Persie-Suarez-Adebayor

I've only one free transfer, but 1.7million to spend. Going to get rid of Suerez this GW. Would love Aguero but just 0.1 short. I'm thinking either Hernandez (could be wise as i have no Man Utd coverage) or Dzeko. Also considering Bentner as a cheap option.

My bench is woeful at the moment, but I'm not willing to take a 4point hit to improve it.
Also badly want to ship Given out, thinking Vorm or Westwood.

I'm considering bringing him in for Suarez.

I brought brown in for ward this week. I think I'm playing the percentages as I see them. Hoping this is the start of a good run for Sunderland and they may get a few clean sheets in that run. Increases the chances of benefitting from that by getting in now.
