        Interesting.. hadn't seen that.

He was moved back in central from out wide where he's ineffective, so that played a part too, but something to consider.

Palace's form might still force my hand to captain him however.

Ugh picking between that defense is a nightmare. I'd put Reid behind both Kos and Simpson this week actually. Dunno which I'd go for though. Probably Simpson - Soton don't do goals away. Would also start Rom ahead of someone...probably Alli.

Yup it's a nightmare already! 😛 bound to bench points.

I was putting Reid in to hedge my bets with Palace looking completely out of form.. they haven't won in weeeeeks.

United are strong defensively at home too but I know what you mean... big risk benching Rom.

Sorry if this sounds too complicated, but..

Is anybody else thinking of Wildcarding in GW33 to bring in 11 DGWers to start a DGW XI during GW34, and putting some SGWers and GW37 DGWers on the bench (like Kane, Fuchs, PVA)? .. If you do this, you can have some of those top guys for blanks and GW34-37 without losing value...

Carry your FT over from 34 and you can use take out some of those SGWers and Arsenal players right before GW37 to bring in a full 15 DGWers to play Bench Boost.

My head hurts trying to explain but basically you can navigate the blanks better, and keep your overall team stronger after the first DGW if you wait to bench boost in GW37.

There is something else you may be able to do if doing this if the extra DGW come in at the right time...

            • 10 Years
            9 years, 8 months ago

Yeah like right now my team would look something like

            De Gea (Schmeichel)
Bellerin - Sagna - Moreno (Azpi, PVA)
            Ozil - Yaya - Payet - Firmino - Lingard
            Kun - Deeny (Kane)

That would be the starters for 34, which would give me a full XI for GW35 and also lets me bench good players who don't have blanks in 35 and have a Double in GW37 (such as Azpi and PVA)

the next move would be to bring in another DGW goalkeeper and try to accumulate 15 in order to bench boost in 37.

              • 12 Years
              9 years, 8 months ago

This looks good, especially with Kane in it but your attack is light in 35 (not playing: DDG, Payet, Lingard, Deeney) and there's 7 there without DGW37 (2x Ars, 3x Mci, Schmeichel, Kane) so you're looking at hits to get a full 15 out eventually.

Good on you for challenging the norm, that sounds like that is a legitimate approach. One thing I'd point out though is Arsenal have AVL in GW38, so it would be nice to have 2FT to bring in 2 arsenal after GW37

And how does this set you up for the GW35 blanks?

      1. Mickey Tyrion™
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

It sets you up because most SGWers and DGW37 players DONT have a blank during GW35.
For example, I can bench Fuchs, PVA, Azpi in 34, play them during 35, and have the advantage of already having guys like PVA and Azpi who have a DGW37.

Cheers. thats good work there. I posted a rough draft of what my team would look like above which I think could work.. Because no matter what, theres gonna be a DGW where you can only field 11 of those players, so you might as well gear the other ones towards week 35-37.

I am 44 points ahead of my main opponent but he has his bench boost left, we both have w/c and triple captins, I am thinking of w/c in 34 so if he does in 33 then I can defend the team he picks. Sound about right?

Not sure I'd do that. If he bench boosts and then picks a better TC than you, he'll have passed you.

I'd probably stick to playing my own game and if he beats you, so be it. You'll kick yourself if he picks a team that doesn't end up doing too well, and you've just copied it.

I'm starting to strongly consider a more conservative BB DGW34. I'll be holding on to 3-4 SGW players. There seems to be no point in tearing apart the team to accommodate a DGWer if they're not going to equal their equivalent SGWer with two games to one. 3 Liverpool players? No thanks. I think it's going to be about finding a balance.

    1. Walsh
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

DGW in 37 also for those teams gives them a big edge over SGWers for me, though. Must be also in your thinking when setting up the 34 team. 6 fixtures in 4 weeks is pretty tidy..

      1. MrInbetween
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Very true. It's gonna be a tinkering fine-crafted amalgam to make this work for the positive. Liverpool rotation and inconsistency makes none of their players particularly appealing. Wise assessment and a healthy dose of luck is going to play a heavy hand in DGW fortunes. I'm thinking of leaning more into the sturdy consistency of some SGWers at the expense of what amounts to DGW hopeful punts.

        • 12 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Though due to the timing of the wildcard (week 33) its 8 fixtures in 6 weeks which is a little harder to justify.

Yeah but if you are chasing you have to take risks and odds wise DGW players are the way to go if you have bench boost.
if you have a decent OR keeping single gameweek players and mixing it up is the way to go,

That makes sense. I'm hovering just outside the top 1k. Having a strong squad mix of SGW/DGW players seems the best way forward as I'll still zip past early chip players ahead of me. But doesn't that make more sense in general? Twist yourself into pretzels to field 14 dgwers and they underperform or don't play both games. I have a feeling this site is going to be full of very disappointed WCDGW34ers.

I'm thinking the same. My single GWers would all have good fixtures. The likes of Vahrez and Alli.

    My usual hit this week

Rojo and Willian in for (-4)

Sound ok ?....Obviously Rojo is one eye on the DGW.

For those stcking with Kane from 34-37 when he has 4 fixtures when you could go say, Lukaku then Costa or something like this that gives 6 fixtures.
Do you realise that with 1.5 x the games, his chances of outscoring them are low?

    His ppg is 5.7 ... 5.7 x 4 = 22.8

    Lukakus is 5.8 ... If you have 5.8 x 2 in 34 (=11.6)
    then Costa from 35-37 who is 4.8 x 4 (=19.2)

    Thats 30.8.

In fact, even just lukaku 34-37 with a blank in 35 and play someone else gives more.
Even going ighalo is the same.

OK, Kane is on great form and these figures might not be how it works out,
But his chances of getting more from 4 than others can in 6 are just not great.

Yes but you forgot to factor in that when we actually pick Lukaku his avg PPG drops to 1.2 PPG.

Im a huge fan of him. Had his week 1 and argued pre season with liads who said he'd have a bad season, but in weeks with DGWs, you have to go with tge obvious I think. Very hard to argue against DGW v SGW

Agree Flanno is more nailed for a normal GW with the EL in the same week but no way Flanno plays twice in a week in the Prem after coming back from a long injury.

I'd stick with that plan. Problem with having 15 and then 11 means that you probably have WBA/Newcastle platers who have very bad gw35 fixtures. I'd think about having some non dgw players in 34.

      group a : 3 Liverpool players
group b : 4 from man utd, west ham, Watford, everton
group c : 8 from arsenal, man city, west brom, palace, Newcastle
group d : 4 from Chelsea, everton, man utd, Norwich, sunderland, Watford, west ham

      gw 34 play groups a & b & c
      gw 35 play groups a & c
      gw 37 play groups a & b & d

use the 4 transfers between gw33 and gw37 to take out players from group c and bring in players from group d
