There’s plenty for us to ponder this Monday evening as we assess the lessons learned over the weekend’s ten fixtures. Riyad Mahrez and Harry Kane have the form to punish any potential sellers with one eye on the double Gameweeks, City’s malaise shows no signs of ending, Everton’s lack of consistency is a real concern, whilst Arsenal’s young wide man may have played his way into wildcard consideration.

Selling Mahrez could prove costly….
It’s 16 goals and 11 assists for the season now for Leicester’s wide man after he bagged the weekend winner at Palace. Although many are looking to bring in 15 players with a pair of fixtures in time for double Gameweek 24, can we really risk selling a player that’s averaged 7.2 points per game so far? With a trip to Sunderland in Gameweek 33 and home clash against Swansea in Gameweek 35 – at a time where six sides are without a fixture – Mahrez’ current form may well retain his place in our wildcard teams as the Foxes look to cement their spot at the summit.

…and Kane looks undroppable….
The Tottenham frontman is also stepping up his output as Mauricio Pochettino’s men remain in the race for the crown. Kane’s two goals and assist against Bournemouth helped him to a 16-point haul and, allied with a double at Villa, served up back-to-back double-figure returns for the first time this term. Granted, the fixtures are hardly straightforward (liv, MUN, sto, WBA, che) but Kane’s red-hot streak is clearly making many think twice over parting company.

Everton’s inconsistency remains an issue….
With nine matches still to play in the final seven Gameweeks, Everton’s home clash against Arsenal afforded us an early opportunity to scout their main men ahead of the double Gameweeks. The Toffees failed to convince, though – a 2-0 Goodison loss was the second time in three they’ve been unable to score in front of their own fans, whilst Roberto Martinez’ men have now failed to keep a clean sheet in each of the last four. Whilst Romelu Lukaku remains a key target for most, his team-mates are struggling to show they are worthy of our consideration.

Iwobi’s on the radar….
Handed a start against Barcelona in midweek, the youngster kept his place as Arsene Wenger’s side made their way to Goodison. Iwobi vindicated his manager’s decision by netting the second in a 2-0 win to strengthen his claim for a run of first-team outings from this point onwards. Priced at just 4.5 and listed as a midfielder, the teenager is bound to spark a bandwagon if he can hold off the challenge of Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell for double Gameweek 34.

The Hammers lone striker role remains up for grabs….
Rewarded for his goal and assist off the bench at Everton with a first start since Gameweek 14, Diafra Sakho was unable to take his chance in West Ham’s stalemate at Stamford Bridge. Just one minute after replacing the Senegal striker, Andy Carroll was amongst the goals as Slaven Bilic’s “Plan B” immediately reaped reward against the champions. Although the Hammers’ assets will surely play a part in our wildcards as a result of their pair of doubles, the competition for minutes up front looks set to steer our attentions away from their strikers.

The Canaries are building momentum….
It’s back-to-back clean sheets for Alex Neil’s men, with a 1-0 win at West Brom helping them clamber two points clear of the drop zone. Norwich’s triumph over Tony Pulis’ men came without the likes of Nathan Redmond and Steven Naismith, with a 4-4-2 set-up proving decisive at the Hawthorns. With three vital fixtures to follow (NEW, cpl, SUN) and a double in Gameweek 35 (MUN, WAT), the Carrow Road club may yet prove an unlikely source of Fantasy returns as they look to save their top-flight status.

Mitrovic could be Rafa’s main man….
The Serbian has now started both matches since the appointment of Rafa Benitez and fired a precious equaliser at home to Sunderland to salvage a derby draw. Analysing the numbers, Mitrovic clearly looks key to their survival bid – he sits second amongst forwards for touches in the box and joint-top for efforts in the opposition box in the last two Gameweeks. Having also found the net against the likes of United, City and Spurs, the 6.2-priced striker may well prove a canny differential for those willing to gamble with their three-man frontlines.

The Saints still have plenty to play for….
A stunning 3-2 comeback win over Liverpool took the St Mary’s side to just four points off fourth spot yesterday. Granted, their lack of a double Gameweeks will ensure than few, if any, will be tempted by weekend scorers Graziano Pelle (three goals and two assists in two Gameweeks) or Sadio Mane but with their dreams of Champions League football still very much alive, the Saints clearly have the form to play a part in the run-in. Those holding Leicester defenders will be hoping the Foxes can curtail Koeman’s charges as they head to the King Power next time out.

Our Liverpool options are on the up….
With Roberto Firmino sidelined through a hamstring injury, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge served a timely reminder of their capabilities by bagging a goal apiece at Southampton. Although Firmino remains the standout option for many ahead of Liverpool’s two doubles, yesterday’s teamsheet – where Coutinho and Sturridge started for the second time in three days – also suggests that rotation may not be quite as rife as we anticipated over the run-in. With Adam Lallana now sitting on three goals and as many assists in his last six league outings, the case for looking beyond Firmino is gathering pace.

Pep’s arrival can’t come soon enough for City….
A 1-0 home reverse to United means that the Etihad side have won just three of 11 matches in all competitions since confirming the Spaniard’s summer arrival. In terms of league outings, City have played seven times and scored more than a single goal on one occasion over that period – a 4-0 thrashing of basement-dwellers Villa in Gameweek 29. With Joe Hart and Raheem Sterling adding to Manuel Pellegrini’s injury concerns, City’s worrying lack of form may well see many opt against loading up on their main men ahead of the double.

United’s defence may be the way to go….
Whilst Marcus Rashford hogged the headlines with a derby winner over City, United’s lack of impact in the final third – two goals in the last three Gameweeks – allied with the imminent return of Wayne Rooney, dents the youngster’s Fantasy prospects. Instead, yesterday’s 1-0 win earned the Red Devils a fourteenth clean sheet of the season and strengthened the case for considering their defenders in our wildcard plans. With back-to-back home clashes against Villa and Palace in Gameweek 34, the appeal of Chris Smalling and David de Gea is gaining momentum after another resilient rearguard display.

£3m in the bank... 2 FT

    Mannone Lloris
    VVD Williams Wollschield Evans Simpson
    YYT Payet Sigurdsson Arnie Mahrez

First GW33 WC attempt for DGW34. Thoughts?

Defence obviously needs working on, but struggling to find cheap options that also can help guarantee an XI for GW35.

    Mignolet - Elliot
    Smalling - Bellerin - Gabriel - Mangala - Olsson
    Ozil - Payet - Coutinho - Firmino - Lingard
    Lukaku - Aguero - Mitrovic

Current DGW midfield - Firmino Ozil Sanchez with 2 spots remaining

    I'm thinking
Mane - outstanding fixtures 33-35, no double
Mahrez - very good fixtures, no double
Payet Lanzini - tougher fixtures, double
Coutinho - very good fixtures, double, very inconsistent FPL returns

Not sure about that but I'm thinking he *might* get them motivated and fighting at least. With two home games Wijnaldum *might* be a good pick that a lot won't have in that case. Maybe.

Would anyone wildcard this week, with this bunch?? (I have no bench boost left)

    Butland/Rudd

    Simpson, Targett, Otamendi, Borthwick, Bellerin

    Silva, Payet, Mahrez, Eriksen, Stanislas

    Kane, Aguero, Vardy.

Team looks ok on paper! but wildcarding this week would be better for me then 33 as could keep mahrez/kane for 2 weeks and then use the 2fts to swap them, ahead of 34 triple C. Problem is my team value is really bad. (only 105m)

I think youre right. I started off certain of getting 15 players bit them I didn't like the team. Don't want to lose kane or mahrez. Now also keeping Simpson for price and fixtures.

12 dgw players will be more than enough for me and way ahead of pretty much everyone bar people on here.

leicester play west ham who ate pushing for 4th place and Spurs are away to Stoke, can you really see Mahrez or Kane killing it in those games, im not so sure. I would rather a Payet with double fixtures or a Wellbeck with 2 possible games against weak opposition

WI'll welbeck play both and then going forward after the dgw do you want kane in your team or welbeck? Are you going to get kane back and use a transfer you could use to get a gw37 player in? Its all guys work but I think it's about more than just the dgw.

      It's a real puzzle.

Two games of Payet and one or two other is great....but really what are the chances of DGWers scoring higher than a single game Mahrez or Kane?...50/50 ?...

I remember people saying similar about Aguero (SGW) v Kane (DGW) last year. Aguero blanked and Kane scored twice 🙂

But yeah I do get the point - it's a bit different time this around. Even with fixtures and being a United fan I'm not hugely sold on Martial/Rashford for example.

The other issue for me is that it's not just losing kane and mahrez for the dgw. you are effectively giving up on them for the season if you then look to concentrate on bringing in 37 dgwers over the following weeks. That could be a terrible move negating the advantage of the double.

The way in looking at it is to hold plenty high owned players like kane mahrez Ozil Payet bellerin aguero Leicester defender and then add in around that. I'm hoping that will make the chances of it doing wrong in 33 34 or 35 pretty minimal.

i think most people here forget that given the international break, some players are prone to get injured and would hence be ineligible. Be patient, wait and see. Don't panic but you can make a draft and save it in your notes. Go with your guts and wait for international match updates.

GW 33 is really tricky for fixtures.

Saw a great WC draft from Lucy but a defence of Arsenal, United and West Ham isn't great

Pool home to Stoke isn't too bad. Tempted by City actually

Can't see me getting a City defender tbh.

              They can't defend.

And holding Simpson is a no go for me I think I'd like to capitalise as many dgw players as possible.

With all these WC RMT's flying around I think we're in danger or underestimating the effect of the remaining Everton game to be scheduled.

GW33 - All planned GW37 Wildcarders will panic and change.
GW35 - Maked GW33 Wildcard easier to plan through
GW36 - Forces people to keep their Everton players through the blank and change WHM/MU assets
GW37 - Best time for triple captain

Would really help if they announce that game soon...

I have a question about wildcards. If i activate my wildcard, do I still make money on transferring in and out. I.E. if I think Butland will go up, can I transfer him now to ride the rise and then sell before next deadline to gain 0.1m? Does activating my wildcard allow this, or do I need to have it looking like I'm taking hits? (Not sure I've explained this very well! Basically, just want to know how to gain £0.3 or so on my wildcard)

I think i set a decent team to DGW34 with wildcard in GW33.

Hot topic recent convinced me that a team of five middle heavyweight campers is better than one with Aguero

    Mignolet Elliot
    Gabriel Coleman Clichy Reid Rojo
    Firmino Silva Sanchez Ozil Payet
    Martial Lukaku Mitrovic

For GW33, it is also a very good team, with Mitrovic, Gabriel and Rojo on the bench

I'm behind on my Mini Leagues, so I have nothing to lose.

Just to get out 10 dgwers (and Mahrez) in gw34 (would have been 11 if Kompany wasn't injured). Use my free in gw35 to put out a strong team including 4 of my good Lei/Tot players. Wc in 36 the exact team (15 dgwers with BB) i want for gw37, allowing me 2 frees to bring in some juicy punts for the last gameweek.

Current DGW34 plan. No Wildcard. Can get this team for free, take a GW35 punt on Southampton player, then WC in 36..

    DDG
    Bellerin, Rojo, Dann
    Sanchez, Ozil, Payet, Mahrez
    Kun, Kane, Lukaku

    Elliot, Ali, Simpson, WIlliams
    0.1M ITB

You can figure out the obvious omissions from this team. 🙂 But assuming no further injures...

    A) No further change needed
    B) Mahrez -> Milner for -4
    C) Dann -> Reed -4
    D) Kane+Ali -> Rashford+Firmino/Coutinho

Looks good. Danna the obv weakness and Rojo is a rotation risk? but i would stick with that unless milner shows any more form in the next 2

More statement of fact then trying to be a d*ck for the record . Does this kill Rashford as a dgw option ?

            I know - you overthink things, I don't take stuff personally 🙂

And potentially. As others say below it could be Lingard that misses out

Rooney can play his way into the team, build his fitness up for the E̶u̶r̶o̶s̶ new Chinese Super League season in the summer.
