We roll out the first in a series of members articles analysing players per position over their previous four matches. Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool’s full-backs arrive on our radar, whilst we also look to the defensive improvements by Norwich and Newcastle before assessing the contrasting recent displays of both Manchester sides.

I started to play around with a GW36 WC with 15 DGW37 players. All depends on form, motivation of the team and injuries of course, but on paper, was pretty happy with the options.

Plus, selling Kun means you can pretty much afford anyone you want. 🙂

You can still sell him on GW33 WC. Especially if KDBs fit

I can not ride 15 DGWs to convince me. Many times disinterested.

GW 33 WC people keeping SGW players, are you going to use your FT going into 34 for transferring out one of the SGW players or is that earmarked for an injury or something?

My plan is to WC 33 and have Mahrez and 14 DGW's.....saving FT in 34 to have 2FT for the blank 35

Plan is Mahrez, 3 Pool, 3 Gunners, 2 City & the 2 FT in 35 to field 11.

Careful planning required to get this and still be able to field 11 DGWers in 37.

no doubt it will all end in tears

It's pretty tough to figure out. Just looking at the teams and schedule I have a fair idea which teams i need the players from but haven't an iota what players will be in.

I'm chasing too so might throw in a few differentials

GW 33 and 35 lush home fixtures. Thinking Kun and 1 DF. I need players from Lpool Arsenal MC Newc or WBA in order to play 11 in 35....but if i must i'll just stick with Fuchs

Ya that's the plan at the mo. Lukaku, 3 MU and Payet and either a cheap WHU MD enabler like lanzini/antonio or a WH GK/DF but am so undecided on the actual players.....hopefully a few injuries over the international will force our hands 😉

Wondering what think is the best GK combo for a WC 33 and BB 34, keeping in mind the blank 35 and DGW 37?

I'm currently looking at Mignolet & Elliott. Cheap and allows me to play both in GW 34, Migs home to Newcastle in 35 and DGW 37.

    Thoughts?

That's what I'm on. Have seen plenty others with DDG + Elliot, but the Newcy enabler also gives much money for others.

Ya i think Elliott is a great second GK to have in a BB 34 but the thought of playing him away to Lpool in 35 isn't great. You may as well have no GK IMO.

DDG and Elliot. Elliot has liv away in 35, but consider that will be Pool's 5th match in 2 weeks, I clould see a 0-0 or even a shock Newcastle win.

How likely is it that Everton's extra fixture that has yet to be rearranged will happen before GW33?

    You're the boss.

I have ten games to fit in during the month of April and early May (up to 8th May) and five training sessions. That means my team plays twice a week so training sessions needs to be light. A set piece session is my only idea at the moment.....any other suggestions?

          Too strenuous?

Defending corners or advanced cross type free kicks could be the job then.

Defenders vs attackers in the box with two either side getting to practice their delivery?

Yeah, that sort of stuff. Something fun would be nice.

We played a full on seven a side tonight on Astro...and they loved it....obviously anything like that is a no no if you play the next day.

I never did set piece. Well there was the offside trap but it didn't really work, especially because if you happen to catch someone offside the ref doesn't always see it.
The best is still taking the ball round the keeper, the amount of people who fail at that is amazing - heavy touches, tame shots etc.
Maybe you can have small goes running to the front post and big guys at the back or practice flick ons?

      1. Dr Dream
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

Maybe I could just let them try doing set pieces however they like....as long as it's fun.

Yes, rounding the keeper is a problem, as is deciding early which side to place tour shot. So many kids dither and just end up kicking it at the middle of the goal/keeper.

I like that defending direct play video, saying that when there is a long ball the defence doesn't just go back and track any runners but the back four narrows. It gets those lazy fullbacks running (i was a fullback)

    Elliot - (Forster)
    Bellerin - Cresswell - Fuchs - (Williams - Wolls)
    Ozil - Mahrez - Payet(c) - Willian - (Siggy)
    Kun - Kane - Vardy

This is using my 2 FTs to do:
    Toby -> Bellerin
    Arnie -> Willian

    GW33 WC Draft:

    DDG, Mignolet

    Bellerin, Gabriel, Rojo, Sakho, Simpson

    Payet, Firmino, Lanzini, Ozil, Mahrez

    Lukaku, Kane, Kun

    Thoughts please?

I know Gabriel is a gamble but he could do really well and l can't see any other 4.3m options scoring very highly.

This DGW is going from bad to worse. The timing of the West Ham Man u replay could not have been worse. From a Fantasy perspective it would have been much better on the 6th April rather than the 13th
Very little recovery time for the players for the first match of the double. Any small injuries or niggles are likely to see players being rested/rotated.
It will be even worse for the winner of the tie , as they face three games within the space of a week

I have updated the dgw article to include the replay

Sadly have little choice other than to wildcard for this double as currently only have two players involved. If i had more i would have prefered to wait until 37 to card as this double looks a disaster in the making

Im almost tempted to wildcard 34 instead and forget about bench boost. Really hoping Everton have a match rescheduled in one of the other weeks to give time for triple capt etc

I know it probably better to boost in a double week but can see it all turning to custard

I'm going all in on the bench boost.

Huge points to be made IMO. Caution to the wind and hopefully put out the full 15 and move towards a full 11 for 37.

The Everton fixture could fall sweet for us all.

probably going to limit myself to two from United and make sure Rashford isn't one as he will be prime rotation target.

Arsenal are the real stars of the double. Cant go wrong with Ozil Bellerin and Sanchez

Newcastle could prove to be a possible aternative although there appears less upside, at least the likes of wynaldum should play both matches, and they have the advantage of being cheap

Yup definitely a decent alternative, but Rafa seems to be dragging everyone back to defend judging by their much improved defensive stats and continually faltering attack.. Wijnaldum in CM is a worry too..

That's why I was almost tempted by Gradel as a placeholder mid until I decide between Firmino/KdB in GW34.

Bournemouth play MCI / avl in their next two, it would be a huge punt though.

Probably sticking with Alli as that placeholder though..

              Gomes - Elliot
              Bellerin - Kosc - Fuchs - Reid(SimpsonGW35) - Klose
              Ozil - Payet - Lanzini - Mahrez - *Alli/Eriksen/Firmino/Gradel/KdB*
              Kun - Kane - Lukaku

Going by their tighter defensive numbers I'll likely get Elliot and possibly Janmaat seeing a lot of attacks go down the right with Townsend in the team.

excellent analysis trigger. I don't see rotation as a major problem, i mean how many clubs will rotate the whole 11? im sure that teams like liverpool, everton, man u and city want to finish as high as possible. It is a risk but im sure there ar eplayers that are not a risk i think thats what we should focus on instead of high points potential.

Kompany worth holding onto in a draft league? Fear is that an opponent might pick him up. I could cut my losses and switch to Reid.

not sure that matters, fact is the guy deserves to be in the squad with the season he has had, also this is his last chance to play in a major tournament.

if he is in the squad there is always the chance of injuries or impact sub.

Even if Rooney is fit I still think it has to be Kane as first choice, I think England should play more than 1 up top not sure Woy would agree.
