ICC World T20 Fantasy – Phase 3

The ICC World T20 moves into its third phase from Tuesday (21st March). This takes a look at the fixtures and offers those playing the game a new article for cricket discussions.

Fixtures

22nd March, Tuesday  –  New Zealand Vs Pakistan, Mohali

23rd March, Wednesday –  England Vs Afghanistan, Delhi & India Vs Bangladesh, Bengaluru

25th March, Friday – Pakistan Vs Australia, Mohali & South Africa Vs West Indies, Nagpur

26th March, Saturday – Bangladesh Vs New Zealand, Kolkatta &  Sri Lanka Vs England, Delhi

27th March, Sunday – Afghanistan Vs West Indies, Nagpur & India Vs Australia, Mohali

28th March, Monday- South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, Delhi

Discussion Points

  • From this we can see that New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh play early on and their fixtures end early. So it would be good to load their players and save on some transfers.
  • Feroz shah kotla (New Delhi), Eden Gardens  (Kolkata), Chinna swamy (Bangalore) are slow pitches. But Mohali,Chandigarh is a little bit fast, skiddy, bouncy and grassy.

        Yeah, would be ideal to have both but it's a non-negotiable budget of 180K as I'm holding Afridi for the game and Shakib but Bangla's next.

      I'd most likely be shifting Shakib to Watto as I think it'd be too risky to go without and besides Afridi, he's my only real captaincy option. I'd just have to spend another transfer to get Shakib back for NZ

    What a finish. Bang undid themselves though.

    Such a poor fantasy day for me. 280 from 4 in this one including winning bonus. Going for Bumrah over Pandya was awful

        343 from 5... I'm happy enough with that, as I've got Shakib, Iqbal and M. Rahman in place for their next fixture and Bumrah can stay in my side at 70k.

        On the downside... I'd kept 20k in the bank to sell Raina for Watson... without realising that I'd be left with only 3 batsmen! It's a schoolboy error that will cost me a valuable transfer or risk going without Watson, which I don't think I can afford to do.

          That sucks...

          I am contemplating sacrificing a transfer on taking Shakib out knowing I'll spend one getting him back in. It would allow me to field Watson and Khawaja tomorrow.

            Might have to do that myself, inorder to get Watson.

            Only other possible plan, is to try and identify a top order batsmen I would want for 80k or under... Johnson Charles or Andre Fletcher possibly, but I think there's question marks over who will open/play if Gayle is fit

            How many Pak and Aus you got?

            I've only got Afridi and Amir at the moment, which is why I'm so desperate to get Watson(C) in to balance my small but select side

              What about Khawaja? Opening the batting for the Aussies and he is the most reliable batsman they have right now. Plus he's just had the summer of his life.

              I've got Afridi, Amir, and Shehzad. No Aussies but 17 transfers left and I intend to add Watson and Zampa OR Khawaja. Much like India their fixtures are too far apart for me to be massively interested in large numbers. Plus they've hardly set the tournament on fire so far.

                Khawaja is perfect!! Expected him to be 100k, completely forgot he's only 80k... I've only got 12 transfers left, so I need to make sure I'm getting the players in who can score the most and also budget friendly, so I can still get the big guns when they play.

        Decided to just go with Raina from India, and will keep Shakib and Tamin for Bangla's next fixture. India's points are a little bit unpredictable and there's a lack of form to in the top order really. That, together with the gap between fixtures, put me off.

        All in all, happy with my choice.

        I'm going massive on WI all rounder options!

          That's a good score. I didn't have the balls to go with just Raina. Kohli's high ownership scared me.
          It was actually very poor planning on my part since I brought in Bumrah when I could have gone for a bang option and gotten two games out of them or just gone with zampa for tomorrow. Hopefully my other transfers play out better

    A) Mahrez
    B) Vardy

    Keeping Vardy suits me better, as can then have 4DGW midfielders + Lukaku + Kun

    Yesterday's last minute lose of Bangladesh costed me 40 winning points and so far a 30 points of MOTM. However, need to cover this 70 today in PAK vs AUS. Please suggest your transfer plans. I do have Afridi, Shehzad and Amir.
