The ICC World T20 moves into its third phase from Tuesday (21st March). This takes a look at the fixtures and offers those playing the game a new article for cricket discussions.

Fixtures

22nd March, Tuesday  –  New Zealand Vs Pakistan, Mohali

23rd March, Wednesday –  England Vs Afghanistan, Delhi & India Vs Bangladesh, Bengaluru

25th March, Friday – Pakistan Vs Australia, Mohali & South Africa Vs West Indies, Nagpur

26th March, Saturday – Bangladesh Vs New Zealand, Kolkatta &  Sri Lanka Vs England, Delhi

27th March, Sunday – Afghanistan Vs West Indies, Nagpur & India Vs Australia, Mohali

28th March, Monday- South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, Delhi

Discussion Points

  • From this we can see that New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh play early on and their fixtures end early. So it would be good to load their players and save on some transfers.
  • Feroz shah kotla (New Delhi), Eden Gardens  (Kolkata), Chinna swamy (Bangalore) are slow pitches. But Mohali,Chandigarh is a little bit fast, skiddy, bouncy and grassy.

From a totally non-fantasy POV, Smith should step down and retire from T20. Incredible test and above average ODI player but clearly unsuitable for T20.

been in poor form all throughout his T20I career for some reason..

If he bowls regularly, justifies his spot but not in the current set-up

He is a class act and a great leader...ABD too has a bad T20I record , will you drop him?

ABD has explosiveness... Smith has toned that down

Seeing this first time, I felt he was totally unsuitable for the long form and a perfect fit for the shorter one

Just a little heads up for those who may not have noticed. Flanagan is not in the Europa league squad so Moreno owners can expect a lot of rotation around around gw's 32-35.

      He's bowling beautifully.

I remember him giving Watson that working over in the ODI WC but I haven't seen him bowl like this so far in this tournament. Brilliant to see.

Charles, Benn and Abbot are on my 70k shortlist from those teams... would go Charles (if he keeps his opening spot) and Abbot

Badree is a far superior option tho....Benn has good economy but takes less wickets

Badree is a banker in my team... along with Russell, Bravo and Charles (if he opens) but I'd definitely consider Benn for 2 games a bargain at 70k

Both Benn and Badree are nailed I'd say. Of course if WI win their 3rd a qualify with 3 wins, they may switch it up for the next game. Good chance he'd play both imo though

He might actually be a better pick than Abbot at this stage, as he can play 2 games in 4 matches... although it doesn't matter nearly as much to the budget planning at only 70k

Is anyone going without ABD in the next game? Also going what about going without Gayle?

    1. Eden Hazardous
      • 10 Years

ABD - Yes I am omitting him .

Gayle - Get him IN as Windies play twice in 4 matches....

      Knew this would happen... (Watson)

Most will own him... my plan was to bring him in (for Shakib) and captain him, but with him dropping down the order, I thought it wasn't worth getting rid of a player I'd be bringing straight back in anyway.

Sometimes less knowledge is a good thing!!

Not getting ABD and waiting to see what's said about Gayle's fitness before deciding on him.

Completely agree here. I brought Watto in long before the squads were announced as I was afraid I slept late and missed the deadline. Woke up to see him not opening and switched the captaincy from him.

So annoying isn't it... there'll be players who will 'get lucky' by not checking or not realising these things

            • 13 Years
            9 years, 8 months ago

Yup. Phase 2 was the phase where more knowledge gave you an edge. Phase 3 so far has benefited the less active players

            1. juggos
              • 13 Years
              9 years, 8 months ago

In Phase 1, knowledge also gave you an immense edge but I wasn't taking the game seriously back then and missed out on several pts by sleeping in and wasted transfers on rained out games

    3. Murder on Zidane's Flo…
      • 14 Years

Pretty sure I'm going without both. AB not in outstanding form and is pricey. Would rather have de Kock as he's opening, has form, stumping potential.

Lots of good options for Windies that will bowl as well as bat and I might get Fletcher for a cheap explosive opener if he is selected ahead of Charles. Not sure how that one will shake out just yet though of course, so waiting on lineups.

Yes Watto!!! Why did I swap captaincy to Afridi at the very last minute. Hope boom boom comes good with the bat

20 runs is close to nothing with their sh1tty scoring system

Agree but Watto should get a wicket or two. I'd take any runs right now and his massive SR is a bonus

Plus 3 everytime a 6 hit...just 2 of those so far, but it can all add up pretty quickly.

Plus he's increasing his chance of MoM with every run scored (at this SR especially).

            • 13 Years

Good points. Shame he didn't keep the strike just now. Hopefully he can hit at least one more 6

    2. Murder on Zidane's Flo…
      • 14 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

It's a little unfortunate. At 6, he may have had far less opportunity with the bat that he is having. I went Maxwell instead (allowed me to get Khawaja in) so it may not hurt me too badly. I'd much rather have Watto bowling mind...but at least Marsh isn't there to get overs.

Nailed on isn't it. I decided his bowling wasn't enough on it's own to warrant bringing him in and captaining him, like I'd planned, with him batting at 6... but now I obviously wish I had him and captained him.

this is the 2nd big mistake I have done in the main stage

I didn't have Gayle either... but my first big mistake was captaining Amir over Anderson in the NZ vs Pak game... could have been a lot worse though to be fair.

That went terribly!!!!!!!!!! No wickets from 2 bowlers and hardly any runs from 2 batsmen. And highly owned Maxwell and Waton getting the runs. You just no that Watson's gonna get 2 wickets and MOTM now. This is gonna be a very costly match for all of us I think
