ICC World T20 Fantasy – Phase 3

The ICC World T20 moves into its third phase from Tuesday (21st March). This takes a look at the fixtures and offers those playing the game a new article for cricket discussions.

Fixtures

22nd March, Tuesday  –  New Zealand Vs Pakistan, Mohali

23rd March, Wednesday –  England Vs Afghanistan, Delhi & India Vs Bangladesh, Bengaluru

25th March, Friday – Pakistan Vs Australia, Mohali & South Africa Vs West Indies, Nagpur

26th March, Saturday – Bangladesh Vs New Zealand, Kolkatta &  Sri Lanka Vs England, Delhi

27th March, Sunday – Afghanistan Vs West Indies, Nagpur & India Vs Australia, Mohali

28th March, Monday- South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, Delhi

Discussion Points

  • From this we can see that New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh play early on and their fixtures end early. So it would be good to load their players and save on some transfers.
  • Feroz shah kotla (New Delhi), Eden Gardens  (Kolkata), Chinna swamy (Bangalore) are slow pitches. But Mohali,Chandigarh is a little bit fast, skiddy, bouncy and grassy.

            Could well be, but what about the Gayle situation? If his back is a problem, it changes things

            Could also open with Fletcher again... which would mean no Charles opening if Gayle is fully fit

            I want to hear what Sammy says about Gayle before I decide anything

              Gayle will play. He doesn't do singles and twos anyway. So back won't be overworked

                Still uses the back when swinging... I'm think more if they win, will he be rested for the last game?

                Any WI I buy, I want 2 games out of them

                If Sammy says his back is A-OK I'll get him... if it's not, I might take a calculated risk and go without him

                  Yeah i guess you'll have to wait. But reports suggest he's fine. I would like Bravo, think he'll do well next two. If Gayle gets through this match, he'll play next match too i would've thought. Still playing for 1st and 2nd

                    Yeah Bravo and Russell have been my bankers for WI... I've also been getting Charles as a 70k budget.

                    Now they're playing 2 games pretty quickly... I also want Gayle or Badree but I've only got 4 batsmen (one is Raina who I need to sell) so I feel I need another batsmen, but like I say, I'm personally not certain I'll get 2 games out of Gayle and at 120k, it might be worth going against him.

                    Take your point about winning the Group, and I'm maybe wrong, but I think they'd probably take the chance to rest him for the knockouts if their tournament didn't depend on the result in the last group game.

          He'll bowl 4 overs and 2 will be at the death so he'll have chances to score... he's a boundary hitter when he gets the chance, so can score quickly. I'm not overly concerned.

          Don't believe there is one... Charles or Benn from WI? Will both play 2... Fletcher has scored better than Charles up to now, but I still prefer JC

          Wouldn't put you off him, could definitely score well. But personally I've planned to get SL players only, as they play 2 games in 4 matches - albeit they may not win either haha

            Yeah, I agree. As good as Badree is I'm not convinced he will get anything. He won't go for many but economy isn't rewarded sufficiently for me to care enough. Bravo is almost guaranteed something at the death.

              😀 I like Andre a lot as a player and I think his ability is better than Bravo's, but Bravo comes in a spot higher and always death bowls so it was a close call. He may still score more points. We'll see!

                I know all about what Russell can do from backing Trindad & Tobago to win the CPL a year or 2 ago... AR was playing for Jamaica Tallawahs, who looked thoroughly under the cosh before he came in... just about every shot he hit was a boundary and my £50 went up in smoke!

                Always buy him in the IPL and other Fantasy competitions since... and he's one of the players I like to keep onside when betting also!
