Olivier Giroud returns to the scoresheet to nudge Arsene Wenger, Riyad Mahrez takes to the international stage to maintain his form, while Rafa Benitez counts Fabricio Coloccini out of Newcastle’s looming Canaries clash…

Giroud offers reminder

Olivier Giroud volleyed home from close range as France enjoyed a 3-2 win over Netherlands in an emotional night in Amsterdam, as fans and players remembered the recently deceased Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

The Scout Says: In light of Danny Welbeck’s return from injury, Olivier Giroud has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal, starting just one of the Gunners’ last four league ties. Welbeck, meanwhile, has repaid the faith invested in him by Arsene Wenger, notching three goals and one assist in three starts and two cameos. Priced at 7.3, Welbeck certainly represents an alluring option if he was guaranteed to start up top for both fixtures in the Gunners’ double Gameweek 34 (CRY, WBA). However, the fact he’s still not completely shaken off his knee injury and faces obvious competition from Giroud heightens his rotation risk during a period in which Arsenal embark on three matches in eight days.

United Pair Lay On Goals

Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay earned assists for their respective nations as France secured an away win over Netherlands.

The Scout Says: In terms of harnessing Manchester United’s attacking potential in their double Gameweek 34 (AVL, CRY), Martial is our preferred selection at present. Although the 7.6-priced Frenchman failed to score in his previous three league starts, only four forwards have amassed more shots on target (five) in their last four outings. Marcus Rashford (three goals in four) catches the eye by virtue of his 4.5 valuation, yet Wayne Rooney’s imminent return negates his security of starts. Ultimately, Louis van Gaal’s side are still struggling to gain any attacking momentum (two goals in three) but will be confident after their Manchester derby victory and could well flourish against an Aston Villa outfit that has conceded more goals than any other side (59) and a struggling Crystal Palace side that is without a clean sheet since Gameweek 19.

Willian Back Amongst The Returns

Willian laid on the assist for Douglas Costa’s opener in a 2-2 draw between Brazil and Uruguay in their World Cup Qualifier.

The Scout Says: After delivering returns in just two of his last ten league appearances, Willian used Brazil’s qualifier to get amongst the assists once more. Despite drawing three successive blanks in the league, Willian has posted some impressive numbers across his last four outings, ranking second among Chelsea’s midfield for attempts (seven) and joint-second among all his counterparts for key passes (17). While Chelsea are not treated to a double Gameweek 34, their upcoming trip to Aston Villa could encourage Gameweek 33 wildcarders to secure a differential from the champions’ squad, with Willian a clear option.

Mahrez Figures in Algerian Rout

Riyad Mahrez continued his rich vein of form by earning a brace of assists for Algeria in a 7-1 rout of Ethiopia in their African Cup of Nations qualifying tie.

The Scout Says: Coupled with two goals in three league starts, Mahrez’s growing influence on the internationals stage acts as a timely reminder of the dangers of selling him in the pursuit of extra double Gameweek 34 assets. Mahrez tops the Fantasy Premier League ranks for points per game with a 7.2 average, illustrating his capacity to outscore potential replacements in a single outing. Moreover, the Foxes enjoy a promising home tie against Swansea City in Gameweek 35, which would put non-owners in a nerve-shredding scenario.

Coloccini Set to Remain Sidelined

Rafa Benitez revealed that Fabricio Coloccini is still contending with a calf complaint and is unlikely to be passed fit for Newcastle United’s crunch trip to fellow strugglers Norwich City in Gameweek 32:

“I think Norwich will be too close for him. He is undergoing treatment and he is improving but when you have been away for a while. You need to time to have match fitness again.”

The Scout Says: Assuming Daryl Janmaat can recover from the knee knock that forced him to withdraw from the Netherlands squad, the marauding right-back remains the choice route into the Magpies’ rearguard ahead of their double Gameweek 34 (SWA, MCI). Aside from being the most secure starter, Janmaat ranks joint-seventh among defenders for shots on target (seven) and joint-tenth for key passes (22). Newcastle managed just one clean sheet in their last 15 outings but have seemingly tightened up under the guidance of Rafa Benitez – they’ve yet to conceded a “big chance” with the former Liverpool boss at the helm. While that could bode well for the vital trip to East Anglia, Coloccini’s prolonged absence will come as a blow and those considering Janmaat for Gameweek 34 will be eager for the Argentine to make a return to at least offer Benitez more options in his troubled back four.

Martial & Bolasie > Pelle and Alli and 4-4-2 for GW35

If people honestly end up going with Rojo, Sakho, Gabriel, Monreal, etc like I'm seeing on here... they will not enjoy the doubles when these guys only play in one game.

You don't think Rojo and Sakho are nailed? I can see Gabriel and Monreal being rotated but the other two seem safe to me.

      Based of what?

Does LVG have any other options for Rojo. Sakho and Monreal has played every game when fit? Gabriel will get rotated for sure.

Gibbs playing one of the games wouldn't surprise me but then again Arsenal are out of Europe and the FA Cup. They don't really need to rotate.

I would never trust Rojo to stay fit for 180 minutes.

Sakho, of the 4, has the highest chance to play both games, but I don't know why people want to even risk it.

I'd rather go without Aguero and have 14 other nailed players than scrape the bottom of the price barrel.

All these WCs loaded with SGW players are real chicken george cop outs.

Unfortunately not. While I love Bernie, he doesn't have the delegates, math wise, to secure the Dem nomination from Hillary. He is virtually eliminated at this point (American here).

Trump is a dangerous, unqualified, megalomaniacal child. As a fellow NYer, I am ashamed he is such a consideration.

We have a very uninformed populace on political matters, that is both entitled and ignorant. Fortunately, they are not the majority of voters. Trump or Cruz, f the latter is given the nomination in a potentially contested Republican convention, will lose to Hillary.

Hillary is easily the most qualified, yet she is not a good authentic speaker, and has a big credibility gap. Still, I will vote for her as a registered Democrat in the NY state primary.

Remember guys. There are some Americans who play FPL and who are members are ffs. Ask us about our strange and ethnocentric land, and we'll be happy to share.

Well after spending at least 4 hours here is the my WC team. I am actually following in my mini league by nearly 100 points against a casual who already used his chips and WC with a template team:

    Hennessy / Migs
    Bellerin, Rojo, Janmaat, Clichy, Sahko,
    Payet, Lingaard, Firmino, Mahrez, Özil,
    Lukaku, Kun, Wickham.

    ITB: 0,4

For gw35, I will ship out with Rojo & Wickham --> Azpi & Defoe with my 2 FT so I will have 11 players in gw35

Your comments will be much appreciated.

Get Barkley instead of Mahrez this WC. Play him GW 32 and the double DGWs. Take Mahrez back for a hit to field 11 on GW 35?

Effectively 5 games vs 3 games.

    Thoughts?

Anybody doing wc33 concidering NOT fielding 11 in gw 35. Couldn't it be worth holding on to everton/man u players over the blank?

I think only Lukaku would be worth keeping over the blank. MUN players would also possibly be worth it.

I was thinking the same, add WHU players as well

Keeping Payet Lukaku Rojo/Reid for sure
Selling Lennon and Martial (if I go with him)

Keeping Degea Rojo Payet Lukaku, selling Martial

    4. Koflok
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 10 months ago

I was considering it because I have Rojo Payet Antonio Lukaku.

But comparing potential loss and gain, say if you take a hit get the 11th player - say Alli for Antonio, the max potential loss is 2. (well more if he gets an OG or RC).

But the max potential gain is way more, especially for an attacker. 1 assist and you're already in the green.

If you take a hit to get an 11th player and then transfer him back for a hit though, that's another issue.

    Thoughts on this GW33 WC?

    Elliott. Robles.
    Bellerin. Rojo. Sakho. Dann. Simpson.
    Coutinho. Firmino. Payet. Özil. Barkley.
    Lukaku. Kane. Kun.

    Gives me 4 DGW33 players and 13 DGW34.

I'd rather double on Ozil and Sanchez than Coutinho and Firmino but I'm assuming you can't afford that. Would you consider Kane + a Liverpool mid -> Martial + Sanchez?

I can afford Sanchez but he's just so horribly out of form.

I want to triple up on Pool as they have loads of fixtures. If I got Martial and Sanchez that's an extra FT I'd need to use to ship them out.

Arsenal have scored 0 or 1 in 5/6 last home games.
And 0 or 1 in 4/5 last Premier League home games
Only that 94th minute leicester goal did they score 2

    Man utd arent much different.

Im thinking of keeping kun kane and mahrez though 33-35 instead of WCing for these teams

My plan for Gwks 33 to 37 is as follows.

    Gwk 33 (WC)
    Mignolet (Gomez)
    Coleman*, Smalling, Bellerin (Rojo) (Gabriel)
    Lennon*, Ozil, Payet, Coutinho, Firminho
    Lukaku* (C), Aguero (VC), (Deeney)

    Gwk 34 (BB)
All of the above play twice with Ozil (C)

Gwk 35 (Lukaku to Costa and Smalling to Simpson)
    Mignolet
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Simpson
    Coutinho, Firminho, Ozil
    Aguero (C) Costa

    Gwk 36 (Aguero to Lukaku)
    Mignolet
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Coleman
    Ozil, Coutinho, Firminho, Payet, Lennon
    Lukaku (C), Deeney

Gwk 37 (TC) (Simpson to Smalling)
    Mignolet*
    Coleman*, Rojo*, Smalling*
    Coutinho*, Firminho* , Payet*(TC), Lennon*
    Lukaku* (VC), Costa*, Deeney*

If anyone bothered reading that how does it look?
Week 34 - BB all 15 players play twice.
    Week 35 - Only 9 players
    week 37 - 11 double game weekers

I don't like the look of your GW35. If Gabriel misses out you'll only have 8 playing and no Mahrez/Kane. But if that is a risk you want to take then just hope for the best.

I'm going to hate not having Mahrez, but I just can't keep him and maximise the potential returns from the double gameweeks. Couldn't choose between the two Liverpool midfielders so this saves me making the wrong decision.

Guess it depends on how much value you have tied up in. It all hinges on Bolasie outscoring Mahrez in 33 which is not a sure thing even though Bolasie has the double. Plus if you keep Mahrez you don't have to burn a transfer doing that move in 35.
