ICC World T20 Fantasy – Phase 3

The ICC World T20 moves into its third phase from Tuesday (21st March). This takes a look at the fixtures and offers those playing the game a new article for cricket discussions.

Fixtures

22nd March, Tuesday  –  New Zealand Vs Pakistan, Mohali

23rd March, Wednesday –  England Vs Afghanistan, Delhi & India Vs Bangladesh, Bengaluru

25th March, Friday – Pakistan Vs Australia, Mohali & South Africa Vs West Indies, Nagpur

26th March, Saturday – Bangladesh Vs New Zealand, Kolkatta &  Sri Lanka Vs England, Delhi

27th March, Sunday – Afghanistan Vs West Indies, Nagpur & India Vs Australia, Mohali

28th March, Monday- South Africa Vs Sri Lanka, Delhi

Discussion Points

  • From this we can see that New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh play early on and their fixtures end early. So it would be good to load their players and save on some transfers.
  • Feroz shah kotla (New Delhi), Eden Gardens  (Kolkata), Chinna swamy (Bangalore) are slow pitches. But Mohali,Chandigarh is a little bit fast, skiddy, bouncy and grassy.

          lol he never comes up early when India lose early wickets early however if India has a good start like 100/2 he always promotes himself, very strategic man. makes choices where he benefits himself

    Finch(part 2), Maxwell(C), Raina, Yuvraj, Dhoni

    1 transfer left. I have Perera and Herath for tomorrow but expecting both teams to play their second string players tempted to use the last transfer for Kohli or Hazlewood (who is my personal fav)

    Gone for Kohli (C), Maxwell, Khawaja and Zampa in the end.

    I've had quite rotten luck with the captain in this tournament. Last time my cap delivered was Kohli vs Pakistan

      Don't really see much of an upside for SA.

      He gets two weeks rest, before playing a tournament for a regional Indian side. Any conceivable benefit to them would be diluted by so many other more relevant things before he returns.

      SA should be trying to respect their fans and to win the game.

    Batting down the order and only bowling 2 overs last time means I still feel I wasn't wrong to go without him

      Yeah, I can see your thinking. I put him in because I felt like as someone that can contribute with bat and ball he still had one of the highest ceilings. Plus, Faulkner just had a very fruitful bowling spell last time and was kept going. In general, I think Watson is more reliable and metronomic.

    Here's one for you, if you were in Watson's position would have 'dropped' Yuvraj on purpose? I would have. His inability to run was costing the team.

      I can see where you are coming from but no! If Yuvraj was a taileneder who couldn't hold a bat then maybe, but he isn't. There's no guarantee that he wouldn't have hit a few boundaries if he stayed a couple of overs more. Wickets built pressure.

      easier to say in hindsight.. Watson would have got slaughtered if he deliberately missed that and Yuvi ended up spanking the ball later on

    Well tried my best to go up the leaderboard with punts was 22nd few games ago fallen to 250th now just got Dilshan, Vandersay, ABD for next game one transfer likely gonna bring in Amla(C) then gonna try and punt in semis just load mostly on one team likely England and India and punt on captain
