Wayne Rooney returns to action with a run-out for United’s reserves. David Silva is back in contention for City’s clash with PSG tonight, whilst John Terry closes in on a comeback for Chelsea.

Rooney steps up recovery

Wayne Rooney built up his match fitness after returning from injury last night. The Red Devils skipper was afforded a 61-minute run-out for United’s U21 outfit in a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough.

The Scout Says: With a midweek FA Cup replay against West Ham up next tomorrow night, Rooney has the chance to earn further minutes ahead of the Red Devils’ upcoming double Gameweek (AVL & CRY). With Louis van Gaal desperate to clinch a top-four spot, there’d be no surprise if his captain imminently returned to the starting XI in a move that would see Marcus Rashford drop down to the bench. The fledgling marksman was withdrawn at the break against Tottenham Hotspur and proved largely ineffectual in his previous quartet of starts, chalking up just five attempts and two shots on target. Moreover, the Red Devils managed a mere two goals and the fewest attempts (27) of any side in their last four fixtures, so Rooney’s deployment at the lone-striker berth could spark an improvement. Given that Rooney fashioned the second-most key passes (10) of any forward across his previous four outings, Anthony Martial’s 26,000 new owners will welcome the return of Man United’s captain before those tantalising home encounters against Villa and Palace’s defences.

Terry nears Blues return

In an attempt to speed up his recovery from an Achilles complaint, John Terry has undergone platelet-rich plasma therapy. On that note, Gus Hiddink expects the Chelsea captain to be passed fit in the “upcoming days”.

The Scout Says: Considering that the Blues enjoy a double Gameweek 37 (sun & liv), we’re still keeping tabs on a defence that only managed to shut out an abject Aston Villa outfit in their previous eight outings. Certainly, Terry’s (6.6) reinstatement – alongside Gary Cahill – would renew our confidence in Chelsea’s clean-sheet prospects, though Hiddink’s decision to bench Thibaut Courtois (5.3) last weekend again underlined the uncertainty surrounding his team sheets as he looks to hand squad members pitch time over the run-in. Should he prove his fitness in time, however, Terry – bearing in mind that this looks set to be his final season at Stamford Bridge – could well be reinstalled to the first XI for his last few matches in a Chelsea shirt.

Mixed news for City

Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that David Silva has been passed fit for Manchester City’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, while Vincent Kompany is not quite ready for a return. Nicolas Otamendi has shrugged off an ankle complaint in time for this evening’s match.

The Scout Says: Although Kompany will not feature against the Ligue 1 champions, yesterday’s return to first-team training suggests he could be in line for a start at Chelsea this weekend. As such, Eliaquim Mangala’s security of starts certainly looks a little less certain ahead of the Sky Blues’ double Gameweek (che & new). Meanwhile, Silva’s paucity of goal threat (one goal in 1735 minutes) and lacklustre form (three assists in nine) is unlikely to persuade many to take a punt ahead of their pair of fixtures. Indeed, in the event that Pellegrini’s men progress through to the semi-finals of the Champions League (the first leg takes place on April 26-27), the Chilean’s team selection at home to West Brom last weekend suggests further rotation could be on the cards as he focuses on Europe in the final few matches of his tenure.

LoL. I don't own him, though the Armband is on Ozil, so I am only consoling myself.

When is the likely date for the UCL Semi Finals. I want to gauge Aguero's pitch time over the DGW

On Sanchez mostly due to the two home games and lack of trust in Kun's durability! Those cheese strings can go at any time...!

I am hesitant to do Ozil to Sanchez for a -4. I am just hesitant and my rival used it to beat me in GW32. He captained him; 28 points !

        That stat states:

16 goals, 6 assists in 21 games vs CHELSEA and NEWCASTLE for AGUERO.

NB: 22 attack returns in 21 games.

Chelsea have started their pre-season already, based on team selection and recent performance bar against Aston Villa.

      Good stats.

Kun against a truly terrible Newcastle could indeed bear much fruit.

The game against Chelsea concerns me more as Chelsea have the potential to play spoiler there, especially as its City on the road.

Based on current form its hard to see either Albion or Palace shutting Arsenal out and Sanchez being involved in the goals.

Either pick should be a good one this weekend.

wow. aguero has played 21 games altogether. whilst ozil and sanchez have 14 games between them. sample size very small to be pointing it out like its a slight against ozil and sanchez

Yea, but 22 attacking points in those games. On the average he has better stats.

Though, I will concede if you argued both Ozil and Sanchez are Midfielders and not on penalties

So is anyone not BBing, sorting out their team and then using the BB in a normal GW or GW 37 when they have a bench that is stronger?

I think using BB with a rubbish bench purely because you destroyed your team for it is pretty stupid

Gabriel is my only possible non-player. Dann could still come good, Bolasie will be gone this week definitely as my FT. Mitrovic still has good home fixtures.

But still massive potential to get only a small amount of points. Why not wait and rebuild your team then play a bench that you're confident will get a decent haul?

Talk me out of an 8pt hit:

    Robles / Mig
    Simpson, Bellerin, DANN, Rojo, GABRIEL
    Payet, KDB, Sanchez, LENNON, BOLASIE
    Mitrovic, Aguero, Lukaku

Out: Dann (for cash), Gabriel (to make room for Iwobi), Bolasie (terrible fitures and planned transfer)
In: PVA (for GW35), Cresswell & Firmino

I'm holding Dann and starting. He could nick a goal yet as he's already returned 6 points... Selling for PvA in GW35.

      Planning on Bolasie>Milner which gives me a BB off;

      Darlow Milner Lovren Simpson

If he's going to stick with him I can just make my one transfer and BB and not take a hit. If he's dropped given i'm playing BB then I'll need to take at least 1 hit to swap him out, but given his price it also means selling Dann to release funds.....it's a bu66er really.

Would you BB with this squad in the coming GW even though Gabriel and the Liverpool-players are rotation risks?

    Robles - Darlow
    Bellerin - Gabriel - Smalling - Lovren - Coleman
    Sanchez - Firmino - Coutinho - Payet - Lanzini
    Agüero - Martial - Lukaku

It is a worry cannot be denied, I'm taking the risk after the disaster that was GW33.. Coutinho and Gabriel are the two most at risk I'd say. Firmino needs game time doesn't he, that should help hopefully. The others should all be good to go, famous last words. 😀

Lining up my bench as if it was a non BB week helped me to make sense of it:

      Darlow (x2), Mahrez, Gabriel (x2), Ward (x2)

Would I bench boost that lot? Yeah probably.

      Darlow (x2), Lanzini (x2), Gabriel (x2), Lovren (x2)

      Would you bench that lot?

I'm wildcarding this week, so I was largely protected from GW33 problems - I used FTs to bring in Barkley/Robles/Lukaku, knowing I could rectify that in the GW34 wildcard. So it as proven.

Anyone who is wildcarding this week, or those GW33 wildcarders who want to impart their words of wisdom - how much are we going to ditch Spurs and Leicester assets in favour of DGW now?

I'm currently looking at this wildcard team:

    Mignolet / Darlow
    Bellerin / Sakho / Rojo / Delaney / Simpson
    Sanchez / KDB / Payet / Milner / Mahrez
    Kun / Kane / Welbeck

    1.2ITB

I know everyone is asking themselves the same questions. Should I really ditch Kane for a DGWer? Sturridge/Martial, really? And Mahrez, the guy who always scores the minute you turn your back on him. Especially because I still have AOA, should I go for 5 midfielders with a double in gw37? Decisions, decisions...

Assuming Sanchez scoring in each match and atleast one cleansheet and a bonus point each would get him 17 points,so to cover it i have to score atleast 12-15 points from my bench which include Darlow Sakho Mahrez Martial. Uff tough descision to make.
