The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

An astonishing 2,216 fantasy football teams did battle last weekend, in an attempt to qualify for the first round proper of Fantasy Football Scout’s Paddy Power Cup V. With our four previous winners safely installed in next weeks opener, there were only 1,020 places up for grabs…

As expected, the standards were exceptionally high and an automatic qualification score of 62 was set. [Remember, this is after points spent on transfers are deducted.]

A total of 990 fantasy managers made that grade, meaning that the 108 managers stranded on 61 had to rely on their overall rank to fill the remaining 30 spots. The full list of results can be found right here.

Qualifying by the skin of his teeth is 45,465th in the world, woodpecker, who takes the 1,020th and final spot. In contrast, 45,750th in the world, don parcheesi, misses out by the narrowest of margins (a single transfer).

Commiserations to everyone who misses out – a list which includes all but five of the Scout Contributors.

The draw for Round One will be made shortly and will go live on the site at least 24-hours before the gameweek 13 deadline.

Santos seems to be getting a lot of stick. Alan Smith seems to criticize him every chance he gets. From what i've seen he's very good going forward, doesn't waste many passes and is decent in the tackle. He is also incredibly composed, maybe a little too much at times! But i haven't seen anything to warrant the level of criticism he gets.

His positional sense is quite poor, and he looks out of shape. Not a left-back IMO, will likely be a back-up winger when Gibbs returns.

I'm not much for jumping on the media bandwagons trying to kill players but I do think Santos has been poor defensively. It's a combination of looking a bit unfit and positionally weak that does it for me.

Should of kept Traore flying at QPR. Never given a fair chance at Arsenal.

QPR is his level really, Santos and Mertesacker were panic buys after the 8-2 mauling.

By the way, who could have predicted Arsenal would be the first Premiership team into the knockout phases of the Champions League after that game?!

Ya he has been very good for us bar the stupid pass that led to Silva's gaol v City and the stupid red card against Villa!

Do you think Taarbat may be back this weekend? Few injuries and suspension piling up

Maybe they did but Arsenal are completely dependent on RVP for goals who is in the form of his life and was playing a newly promoted team who don't keep clean sheets whilst Spurs have plenty of attacking options other than VDV to step up to the plate as Bale & Ade showed Monday night.

    My team:
    Vorm (Krul)
    P. Jones Enrique A.Wilkinson Barnett (Simpson)
    VDV Silva Ramsey (Dyer) (Tiote)
    Rooney RVP Ade

2 free transfer. 0.9 m in the bank.
I`m thinking about doing Tiote -> Pilkington and Ramsey -> Walters.
Does this sound good, or should I do something different?
I have thought a lot on the subject Rooney -> Hernandez and VDV -> Bale, but I think I`m gonna keep them

I'd swap Rooney for Hernandez but keep VdV, swap Ramsey for Walters/Sess and then next week (unless you want to take a hit) take Tiote out, I have a similar plan for removal of Tiote, most likely for Eagles/Pilko/Ben Arfa

Man he was looking good today... i was thinking about getting him in, he is well cheap. But I think he sometimes has those games and forms but its a bit erratic, like next game he wont put anything in bit too much of a risk with his on and off form.

i agree about song, i would like to get him in, but too much of a risk with yellow cards, he accumulated a lot last season if i remember correctly, and has a bit of a 'drenthe' hot head on his shoulders.

Alright markkk. No worries can reply wherever you like!!
Song is a great player but i think something happens to him when he plays in the premier league, maybe its cause people just get to him quicker, or it doesnt suit his style of play.

I dont know who to change about for my team tho. could be a free transfer save this week.

Hahaha no worries dude, well Ade is a bit of a knee jerk dude but i think it might be worth it for sure with his games coming up and he shoulda scored more then a hatric against villa, wish he did would got me many more points haha. I think you need to get Suarez and Torres out personally, but knowing ur love for the man i think you will stop your finger twitching to make the move and leave him be for a bit.

RVP is a legend. Thats all that needs to be said about that really.
Oh mate i was looking at Bale too, think he is gonna be back on fire again maybe soon, but i already have VDV and dont know whether its a relevant risk to change them, because i dont want 3 spurs players haha! Is VDV gonna go bland now and bale is gonna start being awesome? Many questions i just dont know.... GOnna leave it a week and see how Nani//VDV do and maybe do some changes involved with them. Maybe get Gabby out too depending.

cool, cheers. Hmmm yeah i kno, ade seems a knee jerk but what kills me i was gonna bring him in last gameweek, knew i'd regret it, and he's still cheap, so im going for that one.

Haha aww not any more man, torres must go, i realise that now, is costing me shed loads of points, but as i say i face a dilemma of whether he'll start against wolves, surely he must?? left out of tonight completely, and could easily start.

Yeah, i'm tempted to stick with VDV, as sure as anything mate imo bale will dry up and vdv will steal the limelight, and that could start as early as next game, i dont beleive truly fully enough in bale continuing this, whereas in VDV i do, so im not going there just yet, plus vdv's on fk's, penalty's, the works.

Yeah shifting gabby may not be a bad idea, but would be very tempted to get back when fixtures ease again for villa, the guy is a form player 🙂

I defo think that AVB will be wanting him to have an easy game to score one maybe and get his confidence back up, its always the way with Torres, but i just dont see him getting massive point hauls. He has to play this weekend for sure. Gd idea to get rid, maybe even for like Hernandez or someone.

VDV is such a good player, im gonna keep him for next week for sure and he will probably prove me right and make me keep him ha. Want him to bring in the bacon this week.

Yea love what gabby has put into my team, my love for him now is sorta of what you have for Torres. But im man enough to accept that i have to get rid of him, might even look at the downgrade of a midfield player and get someone like Hernandez myself. Think im gonna keep gabby for the swansea game tho, could score imo.

Gabby could definitely score in the swansea game, sure is possible, swansea and villa are about equal imo overall. Dowgrading a midfielder for chico isn't a bad idea, been looking at him myself to replace torres. Your right there though, thats the other problem i have with torres, that even if he does play, am i guarenteed the effort from him to want to get the goals? lol man what i put up with to have him, i may just get rid ya know and take the worry out the equation altogether, he has to play though, and will want to prove he's worth if he does, must wait for more news on this though approaching weekend.

VDV was tired i reckon after int/ duty and was subbed off early only because of tactics, i reckon he'll be fresh as fook this weekend and will put a good shift in, he still looked excellent in the vilal game, was just unlucky not to be on the end of things.

    Here is a crazy thought:
Have Lindegaard and Vorm as your keepers, and always play Lindegaard!!?!
Then you have a cheap 2nd keeper and when he sometimes play(very rarely, but still), a United keeper in goal.
I think Vorm is gonna score a lot of points this season, and it`s sad to have him on your bench when he gets 10 points:(

As a Lampard owner ipray that this does not happen but if i was AVB, i would play:

    Sturridge----------------Mata
    --------------Torres-------------

His main problem has been the slow service. That midfield three is dynamic. Mata can have a free role. It pains me to have Sturridge in there but they really have nobody else. Sign Faurlin and a quality Winger!

You know Torres hasn't scored a single goal with Lampard on the pitch...

In the 83 minutes that Torres has been on the pitch without Lampard, he's scored two goals. Coincidence? I think not.

Ha i didn't know that. Please tell me Lamps will start this weekend!? I don't think Torres has been awful this season, he's looked sharp. There is just no fluency in your attack at the moment.

Surprised at all the anti-Lampard comments. He is the only player putting the ball in the net for you guys. Has he really changed that much since the days you were winning titles?

Very much so. Doesn't dominate the midfield whatsoever anymore, like he did in the Mourinho era. Can be totally non-existent, and has been in virtually every big game we've played this season, even the Arsenal one where he scored.

He doesn't have the pace (not that he was ever particularly pacy) or intensity about his game that he used to.

Chelsea have no natural width apart from Mata that's the big problem at the moment. I bet Modric is glad Spurs didn't sell him.

Mata isn't really a winger either. Ideally he'd play the Lampard role but they have nobody to play out wide.

Agreed again, just been chatting with some mates on facebook about pretty much this.

Some of our best football this season has come in the second half against United, and in the second half against Liverpool - up until they took off Bellamy for Henderson. That was with Mata playing off the frontman and totally pulling the strings. He can get quite lost when out on the wing. Only problem is that our options out wide are so average.

Another problem is that if you are to give Mata a free role in the middle, then you simply cannot also play Lampard. They do too little work between them, and we need pressing in that area.

I would put Malouda in for Sturridge, don't see anything special in Sturridge just a quick player who is too greedy. Romeu looks a great player. Why did Barca let him go?

There's some sort of clause where Barcelona are allowed to buy Romeu back at the end of the season for something like 8.7 million, then a bit more than that after the following season.

Agree on Sturridge. Not nearly as impressed with him as most Chelsea fans at the moment. Selfish, greedy, stupid and one-footed.

Hiya matey, going good? Hmmm well this week i think i am very much going to do suarez to adebayor, iwas gonna bring him in last week and regretted not doing, so he's in for sure with great fixtures coming up, cant see suarez scoring as many, even if he does break the deadlock and scored, ade will score more in a better flowing team, and maybe getting rid of torres, but he may start against wolves so i face a test with him this week.

Sturridge aint a bad gamble at all, safe if anything, the consensus of a lot of people on here agree that he's a wise move if not got him already. i would definitely upgrade moses, if it's to sess is your choice, i would prefer larsson though if you can afford him? Get's more action all in all, and sunderland, again, great fixtures, i reckon it is worth the hit also, many a people are against hits on here, but they're not to be feared if they will dramatically change the outcome of points, which in this case i reckon it will 🙂

Going not too bad... happy but not exstatic with the 65 last GW. Got me into the cup just so pleased. See u scored simular. Yes Ade last week would have been an awesome move. Looks set for more points too so like your move there. Torres... well that a toughie... surely must stick with the Wolves home game coming up but then has to be first out the door... no more dwelling!

cheers mate. That's given me some confidence with my moves. Looking at Larsson too. It's between them. Sess has just slightly edged it for me for the explosive scoring. Although very tight!

Here's to a good game week.

65 is not bad at all, i see our point though, i was close this gameweek yeah, but wasn't overjoyed totally either as i knew i could of scored heavier if i had ade, your right would of been a master move as he'd not been putting away goals previous to the villa game, getting him though so thats final haha.

Yeah, i think i have to stick dont i with him for wolves, but again, yes, no more messin about after that, he's going, simple as that.

Haha glad to hear it mate, its a good move, either sess or larsson is good, sess does seem to explode more than larsson, i was just thinking larsson for more safe consistency, but yeah sess edges it.

Yep, may this week carry on the form, be climbing higher before we know it 🙂

But will Jones start this w/e? 4 games in 10 days could = SAF giving him a rest I reckon. At least with the other 2 there is pretty much no rotation risk up to the Jan wildcard. Jones has Rio, Evans, Smalling, Rafael and Fabio to compete with for 2 positions.

So what next for Chelsea? They'll beat Wolves this weekend but it means sfa. There's something not right with that club, be that player power, bad coaching or whatever i dont know.

As far as I can see though...

Petr Cech needs to be replaced. He was poor last season, luke warm the season before that and he's been completely rubbish this season.
Jon Obi Mikel: I never rated this guy but he was young when he started so fair enough. He's been there a while now and the lad is just a useless lug of a player. Putting him on for Meireles tonight was tactical suicide and if i was a Chelsea fan i'd never want to see him in a blue shirt again. Push Luiz into defensive midfield if needs be, but not that clown.
David Luiz: Don't play him at centre back again. Ever. And if you do, at least coach him first.
John Terry: He's lost whatever pace and acceleration he used to have and with that his tackle timing has gone so he gives away more fouls. They need an EPL rock solid centre back like Kompany or Vidic and Terry is no longer that player.
Ashley Cole: Woefully off form this season but still decent. They badly need cover so they can drop him during his poor patches.
Anelka: Deserves more pitch time. Of all the Chelsea forwards, i've been most impressed with him this season.
    Torres: ...............
Mata: Handy little player but he just seems to go completely anonymous for long periods at a time in matches. When he does you'd sooner even have Kalou on the pitch. Their system is fine and all but when you have Mata and Sturridge on either flank they're both good technically but they don't have the pacey zip that Robben and Duff used to offer.

"I forget the point i was making so ill just hit Post Comment" 😀

I think the Luiz in DM comments I read everywhere are misguided, he's a good defender and you need the same if not more tactical/positional sense that people say he lacks to play in DM - losing the ball there happens more easily and is almost as bad as at CB.

Overall I think Chelsea will struggle to improve much before AVB can sign some players, but I trust him completely to sign good players and turn it around.

I'm not sure Luiz playing DFM is misguided. You make a good point about his positional sense or lack thereof. But the lad can tackle well and his distribution is excellent which is a big part of it. Positioning and tactics comes down to experience, coaching and a bit of self discipline, the last bit he doesnt seem to have a shred of.

If they carry on with this 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation then wingers are vital, especially for the striker. They don't even have to be world class, Look at Gervinho, he is dogshit but his off the ball runs are creating a lot of extra space for Van Persie.

He's raw as hell and will improve, but most 23 year olds at Arsenal should. He's the weakest of the summer signings, but perfect to help stretch the play.

Without playing fantasy transfers, width is a very pressing issue.

Lukaku may want to try more sprint training... clearly not ideal, but it's a waste of mata and malouda is an irritatinjg player.

Even ACole could be drafted in, if anyone else could play lb.

Just having the option of pace on the wings and a more dynamic no10 would be a massive improvement.

Plenty of slow forwards have made it in the EPL like RVN, Yakubu, Viduka, even Shearer wasn't particularly fast.
Lukaku's problems also stem from having a slow fotballing brain and generally having the touch of a r@pist

Can we really say this after a couple of months? He's no Ronaldo, but whatever little pace he has will only last until he stops being a kid.

Seriously though, he comes very highly rated from the production line that gave us Fellaini, Verm etc. They've done ok in the league and I don't see why Lukaku couldn't.

The boys needs stamina work to be sure. He faded within about 15 mins! This would make him look ever slower.

            This, +2500

His eighteen bloody years old and people, sensible people, on here are writing him off already. He's played for Chelsea 3 times. Completely unfair.

      Continuing the discussion earlier:

Actually thought Sturridge was our best player on the pitch. He made some pretty good runs, especially in the second half, made a crucial pass to the Drog for our only goal and was decent in the few defensive stints as well.

There's no place for Anelka in this squad at the moment. He may have looked good in spells, but his mind isn't in the right place. He's almost 90% set to leave the club in Jan, so it only makes sense we have a back-up winger at RW, even if we sign Hazard or another quality winger.

IMO the biggest problem with Chelsea is that the players aren't able to adapt positionally to AVB's strategy of pressing and the defenders are ageing to run this high defense line. It might work for Barca, but they have quality in their back four. Even their oldest def Puyol is one of the best CBs in the world. Chelsea need to go back to playing deep once again. That's where the strength of most players like Terry, Luiz, Ivano, etc. are. AVB simply can not blindly play his favorite formation/tactics (from Porto), ignoring the requirement of his players.

Also, we need to switch back to our 4-4-2 and let Studge & Torres/Drog to play upfront. Whenever Mata plays at CAM, Torres should play upfront. Whenever Lamps does, the Drog should.

      Ivan----Luiz-----Terry----Cole
      ————-Romeu————-
      ——Ramires Mereiles——
      ----------Mata/Lamps----------
      -----Sturridge—--Torres/Drog

I gotta say Im loving this AVB guy, hope he stays at Chelsea as long as Benitez stayed at Liverpool.
On a side issue i'd love to see AVB and Wenger take over as joint devensive coaches for England at the Euros, that would truly be a thing of beauty!

Defensive...training? That's a thing? I think AVB would be very interested in such a development.

Damn, I really should have his email.

If I put this in a letter and address it to AVB, CFC, would it get through like letters to the north pole?

I want a cheap Swansea defender. Will Caulker definitely regain his place now that he's back from injury? It's dodgy since his "replacement" is their captain so i'm not sure.
