The draw for the first round of the Paddy Power Cup has been made and qualifiers can click on this link to find out exactly who they’ll be pitting their wits against. Let’s see if graqfreak can take the scalp of none other than Scout overlord Mark this coming Gameweek.

The deadline for transfers for Round 1 is, of course, this Saturday at 11.30, with the announcement of the results to follow a day or two after the end of the Gameweek.

Here’s a reminder of what’s on offer…

The Prizes

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

There was a big Benayoun/Albrighton bandwagon as well at the start of the season.

          My personal list:

          Nando (captained him twice)
N'Zogbia (cost me a load of money)
          Taarabt

First of all. You're doing much better than me, trust your own instincts. If it were me, Pilkington. But only if Sess is played out wide, I'm going to bring him in if that's the case. He was sick in France when he was playing in the correct position.

I've narrowed it down and I'll be benching one of Ramsey or Drenthe - I have Ramsey in my starting XI at the moment but I already have RVP for Arsenal coverage and no Everton coverage.

After being tempted to stick with Suarez, I'm not thinking of rather being a week behind bringing him back in when he starts to hit some form (if he does) than holding onto someone who just isn't yet doing it.

Therefore I'm thinking tomorrow (or Saturday morning if prices don't change) to do:
    Suarez > Adebayor

    What do you think?

    Vorm (Krul)
    Jones Brown Kompany
    VDV Silva Walters(v) Drenthe
    Sturridge RVP(c) Adebayor

    Subs: Dyer Simpson Ward

Eek, I've a tough draw in the PP Cup. My opponent is around 10k in the world (to my 40k) and has a very similar team to me. What is particularly impressive is his team value given he still has his wildcard and has taken no hits. 105.9m!! Differentials being:

Me: Westwood, Vermaelen, Brown, N Taylor, Ramsey, Adebayor
Him: Vorm, Jones, Kompany, Enrique, Sessegnon, Agbonlahor

    Fancy my chances?

Still gutted that I didn't get in even though I scored 66 points with no hits.

Would have probably gone out in the first round anyway looking at some of those teams!

Yeah I assume it didn't register properly. I got the confirmation email, got 66 points but am nowhere on the list of entrants. Guessing something went wrong somewhere.

I'm waiting a week. Playing him in front of Dyer and then probably selling.

Will wait on Rooney news, if he is not confirmed 100% fit tomorrow, then he is out for Aguero or Hernandez. If he is then I might get rid of Ramsey. Great fixtures, but he aint in the points.

I'm slightly confused by my opponent. Great ranking, decent team, awful subs.
But mainly he must've bothered to enter into this but hasn't made a transfer since October.

Don't think Nani will be rested, he put on a good show on tuesday, and four days is more then enough restitution. Got no clue about Ramsey, do you think he will be rested?

Was planning on doing Ward -> Turner/BAE/Richards (probably Turner) tomorrow night for my 1 FT but I've just seen that the mighty Victor is about to go down in price again, so do I move the transferring out of Moses to this week having originally planned to do it next week?

Keep it between ourselves but I'm going for Turner this week. Looks a great shout at 4.3. I look the look of BAE, though.

I would sell Ward ahead of Moses, despite the price drop.

Cheers, I may well do that. I feel like I need more proof Spurs can keep clean sheets before I get BAE and Richards, while long term and rising does have tough fixtures upcoming. City aren't keep many clean sheets either. With Turner, there's been the threat of rotation with Bramble lurking but I reckon he's played his way into being first choice now. Looks to have more of a goal threat than Brown as well.

I might even take a hit and do Moses -> Drenthe but I'm still not fully sold on Drenthe; before the potential drop I wanted one more week to assess him and the potential of Ben Arfa.

      This my team:

      Vorm (Given)
      Kompany PJones Shawcross Barnett Simpson
      VDV Silva Walters Drenthe NDyer
      Roon RVP Graham

Don't mind my team but have no Chels or Sund coverage. Either of these worth it?

      Bendy > Roon + Lamps > Drenthe
      Hernandez > Roon + NDyer > Sess

Also thinking about Drenthe > Sess. Or just leave as is? Playing fixtures isn't working that well this season.

So, it looks like Dunne & Moses are going to fall in price tonight. Woodgate not far behind, but he may last until next GW. Question:

I had planned Dunne -> Vermaelen this week, but need to raise 0.2m from my other freebie to fund it. Was going to do Woodgate -> N Taylor (who is a borderling bench option this week vs Wilkinson) this week, but now thinking I should do Moses -> a 4.5m or below midfielder first. Good move, and if so, best option?

True, but either way they will likely be on my bench, so this is as much a value saving trade as anything. What about Dunne/Moses -> Vermaelen/Reo-Coker?

        Repost. Need help guys!

        Begovic (Vorm)

        BAE Enrique Jones (Wilkinson Macaulay)

        Drenthe Ramsey VDV Silva (Allen)

        RVP Roonpig Sturridge

        I’m thinking Ramsey-Bale/Larsson
        Rooney- Chico.

What do you think? I’ve had Rooney since GM1 and am just beyond fed up now. Cheers fellas

I'd probably start Wilkinson over Enrique, and just do Rooney -> Adebayor or Aguero. Chico also a good option.

Cheers pal. I play Enrique every week as he's so attacking. If Rooney is out, I'm going to spring for the Little Pea.

True, but he's up against the highest scoring, most in form team in the league this w/e - I'd be amazed if 'pool keep a cleanie this week. Wilkinson has BLA and imo has a much better chance of a cleanie. Main concern with lil pea is he's potentially a 10m rotation risk when Welbeck/Rooney/even Berba are all fit. Good luck though!

        Enrique or Kompany this weekend?
I get the feeling City may be going off the boil. Liverpool could win this one.
        Maybe an Enrique assist...
