The draw for the first round of the Paddy Power Cup has been made and qualifiers can click on this link to find out exactly who they’ll be pitting their wits against. Let’s see if graqfreak can take the scalp of none other than Scout overlord Mark this coming Gameweek.

The deadline for transfers for Round 1 is, of course, this Saturday at 11.30, with the announcement of the results to follow a day or two after the end of the Gameweek.

Here’s a reminder of what’s on offer…

The Prizes

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

Morning guys - am having team selection dilemma, been thinking hard but cant seem to arrive to a decision as yet. Was hoping to get some thoughts. And as always, your thoughts are much appreciated

In defence which 1 of the following 2?
    1. Kompany vs L'pool away
    2. Enrique vs Man City at home

In attack which 3 of the following 4?
    4. Sess vs Wigan at home
    5. Drenthe vs Bolton away
    6. Walters vs Blackburn at home
    7. Graham vs Villa at home

In defence, i'm inclined towards enrique at the moment for his attacking potential. In attack is where i am really torn - my other attackers are Aguero, RVP, Silva and VDV whom i cant really drop. Also feel any of these guys can score this weekend. Please let me know your thoughts - would be much appreciated. Cheers!

    Cheers guys!

Based on clean sheet potential, I'd go with Kompany. But I don't think you can go too far wrong with any decision you make.

I'd bench Graham, I think Villa will line-up a strong side and the other 3 fixtures are quite desirable.

Westwood as you already have Naylor playing and Wigan is a great fixture at home. Spread your bets.

    Or wait until GW 16?

Next week Billy Baines is coming into my team. I see it as a high risk (due to price) with the potential of much higher reward, than Jags and the rest.

      im waiting until 16

botlon seem to score most weeks, stoke seem to be more attacking this year and arsenal away is just arsenal away

dont expect any more than 12 from him over the next three and 4 ppg isnt what id want from a 8m defender

It's bad enough when people come on here saying "how many points will my team get etc, but this " who will win the cup tie between like 16 players different" god it's getting annoying
Nobody knows who will score more in any given week, just wait for the games!!

We'll both be RVP, guaran-bloody-teed. I'll be starting off on -4, and his rank is waaaay better than mine so I'm wondering if I've gotta outscore him by 5 to win. I reckon I'm gonna do it. Honest.

Got to quite a good position with the help of these boards so thank you...

Now need to finally reel in the leader of my league.

    Team so far

    Westwood (ruddy)

BAE, Richards, Enrique (Brown, R Taylor)

    Silva, Bale, Ramsay, Walters, Moses

    RVP, Rooney (Best)

    1.5 in the bank

Where should I be looking to make changes? I'm thinking of swapping Best for Klasnic and maybe it's time to move Rooney on?

Moses and Best are prime candidates for moving on but perhaps as you say Roon is the priority right now.

I'd do Roon to Ade to free up cash to upgrade both Best and Moses. If you're forced to play Moses this week as well, I'd consider taking a 4pt hit to get him out and bring in Sess, Larrson, Drenthe or Sinclair

It's no coincidence that United have kept 3 clean sheets since Vidic came back into the side. Think I'm going to double up on United defence and bring him in. Seems a better option than Baines right now. Might bring Baines in for him for the home games against Norwich and Swansea though. Thoughts?

Why buy Vidic when Rio/Jones/Evra will get the same clean sheet for a lower price?

Also I wouldn't sell Baines to do it, price moves would be against you and you're wasting two subs over 3 GWs.

Keep Baines, try get in Jones.

I have Jones and Rio isn't nailed on these days. Vidic is only 0.8 more expensive than Evra and he is far more of a goal threat.

You misread my post, I don't have Baines.

Not had a clean sheet from my goalkeepers in months. What to do this week?

    a) Play Given (swa)
    b) Play Ruddy (QPR)
c)sell Given for Vorm (AVL), which i would be using 1 of 2 free transfers for next week anyway
    d) Consider Westwood from Sunderland

Oh no trust me I'm trying to work him in but I'm scared he'll be rested. It'd be typical of my luck. Whenever I put an in-form player in and put him as captain, he is either rested or craps himself and becomes useless. I feel directly responsible for ruining many scoring streaks last season. Mainly Elmander's.

Seemed a flawed statement to me... bookies can't separate their chances of cleansheets, so you have to come down to a) who's playing at home and b) who has more attacking threat. Enrique wins both.

Is it crazy to get Yakubu over Sturridge for the next weeks? Yakubu is Blackburn's main threat in the center and they have lovely fixtures coming up. With Drogs on the radar again it could mean that the scoring potential of Sturridge could be limited. What do you think?

It's pretty obvious that Drogba + Torres is never going to work, so it's one or the other... which leaves a nice place for Sturridge. The only real threats to Sturridge are Malouda and Anelka, neither are exactly setting the world alight. I think Sturridge will start 7 or 8/10 games through the rest of the season, but there could be a lot of 60mins in there.

I have had a strange epiphany

I sold Moses for 4.7M with a loss of 0.3M.
If his price drops to 4.4M and I buy him back, do I regain the money I lost?

lol, if he ever did drop to 4.4M he would be a fantastic bench option and surely better than Reo-Coker 🙂

I can't wait until the last 10 games of the season, when Wigan perform their annual almost miraculous escape from relegation. Moses will be sensational.

ok am really struggling to decide between Westwood and Vorm for this week, what do people think. With the exception of last week every time I've benched Vorm he's delivered a massive haul, but Sunderland have Wigan at home (though I do have Brown)

Plan to take Westy out for Krul when Krul's fixtures improve, but for now...

Might depend if Moses strikes fear into you as a major goal threat 🙂
