Granville may have left for sunny shores, but while he’s sipping on his cocktails, pondering how to juggle his Man City strikers to ensure they miss out on points, I’ve laboured on without him.

I say laboured, what we have this week is possibly the first “grown up” podcast we’ve ever produced, as I chew the fat with an actual football expert, rather than my regular Mancunian pretender.

Renowned football writer, Jonathan Wilson, joined me for a chat, just a week after his latest work – the Brian Clough biography – “Nobody Ever Says Thank You” hit the shelves.

We inevitably talk Clough, discuss the theories behind the Premier League’s goal explosion, the plight of Wilson’s own beloved Sunderland and, of course, pick apart Jonathan’s own Fantasy Football team.

Wilson’s own labour of love – The Blizzard. – is also on the agenda. The quarterly magazine captures some of the best football writing around, delivering in-depth and leftfield articles, ignored by the mainstream football media.

Issue Three is due for release on December 1 in electronic form or print, with back issues available on a “pay what you want” model. You can find full details on the Blizzard’s site right here.

Get yourself a copy after listening in on the chat via this link.

Alternatively, our convenient little player below delivers your goods right into your browsers…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I can remember a good few weeks ago when I got him at 11.9 I think about 3% had him and I actually stated that owning him was a differential - without the need to captain him.

That soon changed on both counts!

Don't think I should drop any of these so I think it's got to be one of the midfielders......starting to lean towards dropping Walters now.

because 8 point hits are bad, you'd need at least 2 goals from Aguero to make those back, if you can get away with just 1 fine, but certainly no more than 4.

That's a big hit to take and how do you know you'll get it back. You do need to get rid of Delaet though and I'm guessing you need the funds from the other sales to fund Verminator. Can you do it with VDV > Bale? Torres might even open a can of whoop-ass on Wolves. Doubtful I know..

What defence would you play if you were AVB? I'd play:

Ivanovic - Alex - Terry - Cole and let it settle for a few weeks to try tro get some consistency and solidity.

I think both Luiz and Bosingwa are too defensively unreliable.

    two questions
    1)Sessegnon or Sinclair?
There's talk of Sess goin back on the wing which is his best position.. plus he has Wigan wolves Blackburn in the next 3 which look too temptin to ignore
Sinclair has AVL bla Ful.. which are slightly less temptin, plus got vorm already so would like to spread the love:).. he is on penalties however

2)And do i get Sturridge in this week and bench Pilkington.. or get Ba in and bench him and start Pilks..
Plan on gettin Ba in for Sturridge next week anyway..

Last time I benched Ba he scored a hat-trick. I've got Pilkington on the bench this week, having just sold Ba for Sturridge. Read through loads of reviews, all have Sturridge starting, with 50% having him as the main man. It's a shame that Pilk is on the bench for me, so I'm kind of hoping that VDV doesnt play at all. Can't really help much other than that.

RvP has averaged a goal every 126 minutes in the PL over the last six seasons. A goal every game and a third

When you consider his patchy fitness (ie a lot of those minutes would have been coming back from injury / not quite match fit / low confidence) it makes it even more impressive

So unfortunate to see a career so blighted by injury. Had he been able to put in 30+ games every season we probably would be talking about him as one of the best ever (in terms of delivery and not just ability). And Arsenals trophy cabinet would have been a whole lot fuller as well

    Open Controls

      Impressive but...

He wasn't able to put in 30+ games, we aren't talking about him as one of the best ever and Arsenal's trophy cabinet has cobwebs in it.

      He'll be injured soon. 😉

Guys i could really use some help.

Current team 0.7 in the bank and have made my 1 sub this week.

    Vorm – (Ruddy)
McAuley – Enrique – Simpson – (Delaet, Ward)
    Silva – Walters – VdV – Ramsey – Sinclair
    RvP (C) – Adebayor – Suarez

Worried about defence. Is it worth 4pt hit

    A: De Laet > Brown
    B: Ward > BAE

really think i need Chelsea coverage?

    C: Suarez > Sturridge

Damm VDV now have option D
    D: VDV > Bale

E: Switch PC off get very drunk partying till 5am and sleep through the 11:30 deadline 😉

Either A or E for me .. defence does look a tad weak but it's a 4 pt hit to change it.

Wouldn't worry about Chelsea coverage too much, personally

So vdv > bale 4 point hit

Worth it... Bale looks like he's going up in value tonight

I can't see this being worth a 4 point hit. A free yes, but not a hit.

Who should I bench for this GW?

    Vorm Ruddy
    Naylor Wilkinson Boyata ShawX Turner
    VDV Rodwell Silva Sess Allen
    RVP(C) Aguero Rooney

I am leaning towards Allen, I guess he can come of the bench if Rodwell doesn’t play.

Has there been any news on Rodwell?

Also, I’m not sure who to bench from my defence. Boyata, will be one of them, but who else should I bench as they are all playing at home? Decisions decisions!!

Very good. Lots of options in defence. Good midfield and Blackburn scoring plenty goals so Yakubu should be a great differential.

If I still had him, I'd keep him this week and if he gets 5 or less, get rid.

Do people think J Evans could play? I don't think Rafabio will play (only just back), too early for Smalling too ...

SO - Jones, ???, Vidic, Evra

The ??? is Ferdinand or Evans, and Evans didn't play midweek. Thoughts?

I think he has a chance, but most likely he's out. Smalling is apparently back now, and with the right backs out there even Jones might be a threat to his CB place

Who to bench folks? Dyer (AVL), VDV (doubt/wba) or Drenthe (bol).

I am leaning towards Royston. Cheers.

Hmmm. I'd bench Dyer. I think Swansea will edge to a 1-0 victory whereas there could be 3 or 4 goals in the bolton everton game.
