For the final time, we take a look over the Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a number of games, assessing the lay of the land in light of Tuesday’s last match of 2015/16. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League, Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team, there’s plenty for us to pore over:
FPL, Fantasy Football Scout League. Winner: Dimitri Nicolaou
Despite being let down by Alexis Sanchez’ six-point armband return at home to Villa, Dimitri Nicolaou still held onto his spot at the summit to clinch the FPL title. His decision to play the All Out Attack Chip backfired when Jurgen Klopp chose to omit Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool’s clash with West Brom, though Arsenal pair Hector Bellerin and Petr Cech chipped in with a combined 17 points as Dimitri finished eight points clear in the overall standings.
Site regular Ed Masters took second in the FFScout league after handing Sadio Mane the armband at home to Palace. The Senegal international racked up 26 points, whilst Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny and Sergio Aguero also picked up points as Ed finished third overall.
Jake Yates earned 70 points despite captaining Sanchez. The likes of Mane, Olivier Giroud and Bellerin all delivered double-figure hauls, with Marcus Rashford also getting amongst the goals in United’s win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night. Jake ended a single point behind Ed in fourth overall.
In fourth spot in the Scout League was Andy Turner. His decision to draft in the ten-point Jordon Ibe proved inspired, whilst Troy Deeney, Bellerin and captain Aguero elevated Andy into eleventh in the world.
Matt Currie took fifth spot in the Scout league after bagging 65 points. He also captained Mane and benefitted from double-ups on Arsenal’s defence (Gabriel and Bellerin bringing in 17 points) and City’s attack, with Aguero and Kelechi Iheanacho serving up 12 points between them.
Thanks to the endeavours of our top five, Fantasy Football Scout finished at the top of the League of Leagues once again.
FPL, FFS Members League. Winner: Ed Masters
Ed Masters also clinched top spot in this season’s members’ league. Known on the site as Mo Mane Mo Problems, he finished the season on 2,444 points, which was 27 points ahead of second-placed Marsel Levi (who took 18th place) and Michael Sheehy, who clinched 36th position on 2,402 points.
Ultimate FPL. Winner: Sultan Osman
Sultan Osman held onto top spot in the Scout league after racking up an impressive 97 points in Gameweek 38. He ended the campaign on 2,898 points – enough to earn him fifth overall – with Imran Rahman (2,850 points, 14th overall) and Richard Harte (2,844 points, 20th overall) completing our top three.
Sky Sports Fantasy Football. Winner: Alan Wood
Alan Wood ran away with top spot in both the Scout league and overall rankings – incredibly, he finished 106 points ahead of his nearest challenger for the crown and walks away with £20,000 for his season’s work.
In the Scout league, Jonathan Bancroft came in second, whilst Dexter Hayes, meanwhile, sat in third on 2429 points – just nine points behind Jonathan. , Trevor Fricker (13th overall) and Barry Grimes (14th) helped complete the top five.
As a result of the performances of our top five, we successfully defended our crown in the “League of Leagues”, which comes with a £2,000 prize. The top five managers in the Fantasy Football Scout table will each receive £400 as a reward.
Sun Dream Team
Jeff Payne finished first in the Scout Sun league on a total of 2321 points (38th overall) –he had Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho on board for Liverpool’s 3-1 Europa League final loss to Sevilla last night. Jeff finished just a couple of points ahead of second-placed David O Byrne, who also had the Reds’ duo on board, whilst Jonathon Bancroft (who had Roberto Firmino for last night’s clash) sat third on 2281 points.
