            It means that the Wales manager has just died and they continued playing the match between Swansea (a Welsh team) and Aston Villa (James Collins is also Welsh). Aside from that it is the fact that all the players probably knew Speed and are all upset about it (as Shay Given crying on the pitch should have shown.)

    villa look absolutely awful. Just so defensive.

    First few games they were playing the old villa way and quite open. Last couple of games they are playing the mcleish mentality. It is horrible to watch, typical of the way birmingham played.

    Problem is villa can't defend very well and with this defensive tactics last couple of games are struggling to create chances

    Also shocking about gary speed. Suicide I heard, incredible really.

      I know FIFA is a game, but when I use Villa, I use Bannan, Albrighton etc in a 442/4231 - so much more excitement and pace to their play instead of Heskey...

      Expected from McLeish though, no wonder fans dislike his tactics and not just the Brum connections.

    Strange match to watch. I have Warnock, Taylor and Dyer so i'm half hoping for a 0-0 unless one of my guys scores. Dyer almost slipping Taylor in could have been so beautiful!

    I genuinely don't know what to say. I heard the news and I instantly felt sick, like someone had punched me in the stomach. My brain has quite been able to fathom it all yet.

    The word legend gets thrown around too much these days for my liking, but in terms of his professionalism and his staying power at the highest level of English football, Speed can be rightly labelled as one.

    Neil Lennon's thoughts on his depression were quite a chilling read and depression isn't something that gets treated with the concern it deserves.

    What freaks me out is that he was laughing and joking on Football Focus yesterday and he alone knew what would happen later that day. And that scares me.

      as weird as this sounds but he was probably at ease with himself knowing he would end it all and the troubles (whatever they were) are going to be over, sort of like a relief or a weight off his shoulders.

      Yep he was a proper professional. Not like these primadonna eejits you see everywhere now. He was also a quality winger and later midfielder.

      Never met him (apart from getting his autograph in '95) so it's strange that it's bothered me so much. As I said earlier I started following football in 93 and as a Leeds fan, himself and Gary Kelly were my first favourite players so i've always had an attachment and hoped he did well at other clubs & management.

      It's just such a shame.

                  Yes, but these stem from being sad, it's not a physical condition like cancer where there is an actual physical problem with you, its mental, and so with the right frame of mind you can over come it, its not impossible to deal with. Just hard for some people, thats why not everyone experiences it.

                    Mate that is really incorrect. It is a physical condition. It's caused by a change in brain chemistry. It is completely physical. It's not a mindset, it is to do with a lot of complex actions in the brain which usually take place but don't or only partially take place. That's why there are anti depressants, they are used to treat the absence of certain neurotransmitters or the over activity of certain receptors in the brain.

    My score is now a more reasonable 40, but I have no doubt that 9 points will be stripped from the collective of Taylor/Vorm and Dyer, because it's just been one of those weekends.

    All pails to the news of Gary Speed of course, can't say I saw him play much or knew much about the guy, but 42 after all he had achieved, and potentially could have, an awful pity. I hope he is happier today wherever he is.
