The EA Sports Player Performance Index numbers are out, with the Fantasy Premier League applying them to the game to add the gameweek 14 bonus points. Here’s a match-by-match breakdown of how they map out….

Blackburn 4 Swansea 2
Bonus – Yakubu 3, Samba 2, Givet & Vukcevic 1

It’s no surprise to find four-goal Yakubu leading the way in the PPI stakes from this game. Indeed, the Nigerian recorded the top overall PPI score of the gameweek, with a huge return of 73. Assists and defensive statistics saw both Chris Samba and Gael Givet record big PPI totals, with Simon Vukcevic’s two assist contribution from the bench enough to see him share a single bonus point with Givet. Scott Dann and Jason Lowe were just outside the bonus reckoning as the Blackburn defence racked up some decent numbers in the 4-2 win.

Wigan 0 Arsenal 4
Bonus – Van Persie 3, Arteta 2, Vermaelen 1

Robin Van Persie once again seals the maximum bonus thanks to a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-0 win at Wigan. Once more he’s joined by Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen, who seem regular recipients of bonus in recent weeks. Arteta sneaks ahead of the Belgian by 3 PPI points to claim the 2 bonus here. Gervinho missed out on a share of the single bonus by just one PPI point.

Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3
Bonus – Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Kalou 1

A clean sheet and an array of impressive defensive statistics were enough to see John Terry claim the top PPI score from Chelsea’s 3-0 win. He topped Daniel Sturridge by a clear 10 points, the striker’s efforts off target perhaps contributing to the margin. Salomon Kalou’s goal from the bench saw him nudge past Ramires by a single PPI point to claim the remaining bonus.

Man City 5 Norwich 1
Bonus – Yaya Toure 3, Silva 2, Nasri 1

The PPI rankings looked hard to predict in this game, and so it proved. Yaya Toure’s goal and midfield efforts were enough to have him claim the maximum here, but bonus for David Silva and Samir Nasri both looked unlikely. Nasri edged out fellow goalscorers Adam Johnson and Sergio Aguero to claim the single bonus point, while Silva’s assist and attacking efforts were enough to see him earn the two.

Spurs 3 Bolton 0
Bonus – Defoe 3, Bale 2, Lennon 1

Tottenham’s three goalscorers hogged the top PPI ranks here, with Defoe claiming top spot and the maximum FPL bonus. Gareth Bale trailed by just 4 PPI, while Lennon recorded 11 PPI less than the Welshman but still held off the claims of Luka Modric and Kyle Walker to claim the remaining bonus point.

QPR 1 West Brom 1
Bonus – Long 3, Barton 2, Gabbidon & Young 1

Shane Long’s equaliser helped him to a PPI score of 30, nudging him ahead of QPR’s Joey Barton to fetch the maximum bonus in the Loftus Road stalemate. Those two were streets ahead of the pack, with Daniel Gabbidon and Luke Young sharing a single bonus back on 13 PPI.

Aston Villa 0 Man United 1
Bonus – Jones 3, Nani 2, Vidic & Smalling 1

The deciding goal from Phil Jones, coupled with a clean sheet, unsurprisingly saw him earn the 3 bonus points from United’s win at Villa Park. Nani’s assist and attacking threat fetched him a PPI score of 29, with defenders Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic sharing a return of 20 to split the remaining bonus point.

Wolves 2 Sunderland 1
Bonus – Fletcher 3, Jarvis 2, Richardson 1

Steven Fletcher’s brace turned this game on its head and saw him claim an impressive 55 point PPI return. Matt Jarvis’ assist allowed him to edge ahead of the pack with a PPI of 22 to earn the 2 bonus, with Black Cats’ goalscorer Kieran Richardson fetching the final bonus with a PPI of 21.

Everton 0 Stoke 1
Bonus – Huth 3, Shawcross 2, Crouch, Whelan & Etherington 1

Goalscorer Robert Huth registered a PPI score of 40 to easily claim the maximum FPL bonus from Stoke’s 1-0 win at Goodison. Fellow centre-back Ryan Shawcross put in a strong defensive showing to push himself ahead of a chasing pack; his PPI score of 19 was just enough for him to earn the 2 bonus, with Peter Crouch, Matt Etherington and Glenn Whelan all sharing the remaining bonus point with PPI scores of 17.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Are there any news on Given's injury? Should I just let him go and bring Vorm in?

Mata looked very good alright. Pity he came off early. Not sure why AVB hauls him off early so many times.
If Mata stayed on he would probably have got a goal as Newcastle chased game and then would have got the 3 bonus!
But Mata is starting to look the part.....

Sometimes stats are misleading - I thought Shawcross looked an utter liability against Everton, lucky not to give away at least one pen and was generally pretty shit.

Wouldn't say its safe to assume that at all. He didn't perform well against Chelsea, but that's because we randomly decided to skip midfield and concentrated on hoofing the ball up to Ba for large parts of the game, the 3ft5 HBA got bypassed. Thought he did a few nice things, nearly set Ba up with a lovely little ball but all in all he didn't do too much, though that could be down to how well Romeu and Ramires played.

Im not sure whether to lose him. You looked a lot more threatening with two upfront. Didn't realize how good Ba is! He's got it all, Strength, skill, pace, acceleration, he's quick, he's fast. He has it all!

His technique against Chelsea was a lot better than I thought he was capable of, looks a cracking player.
Regarding Ben Arfa, it is hard to know really, we'll see what he does with these easier fixtures. I'm keeping for the moment.

I'd say over the course of the season he'll play less than half of the games. However, it still could be ok in rotation with Vorm, as long as he plays on the days when Vorm has horrible fixtures. Tough call, Krul is probably a better option though

You're right, he was indeed replaced with Begovic in the 2nd half. I'll just wait a bit longer.

But if he isn't injured, then Begovic > Sorensen could make more sense than Begovic > Lindegaard,

Would be interested to see his past history of goalscoring. 7 in 33 for Arsenal 2 seasons ago is pretty good for a defender, but 10 in 110 for Ajax before that is not great. Would be interested to see the spread of those goals.

Also, Arsenal don't keep many cleanies.

They've kept more than City this year.
Arsenal's defence is never as bad as people seem to think it is it's just when they concede it tends to be in comic fashion and is therefore more memorable.

    Howard Ruddy
    Baines Vidic BAE Simpson McAuley
    Silva VDV Brunt Dyer Moses
    Ba Bendy RVP

My logic in having big hitting defenders is that if they keep a cleanie more often than not this season they'll get 2 or 3 BPs. Having a weak front line is questionable but with Sturridge, Fletcher, Welbeck, Ba all coming in pretty cheap and havin good fixtures it is tempting. Any thoughts?

Agree that the is some more emphasis towards defenders. Im toying with a few things including having Baines, Evra (cant quite afford Vidic) & Verm at the back. With a Swansea & Newcastle defender, it gives the option of playing 4 or even 5 at the back whch sometime i think is probably a better way to go that to play a dirt cheap midfielder who will likely only get 2 points.

A Moses or a Dyer has to actually do something to get more than 2 points where as a defender doesnt, he just has to be part of a team who keeps a clean sheet. Assists dont seem to mean baps either so you have to score and when u look at it, it seems a Vermalen is gonna get u more goals than a shitty defender and if they do, they will likely get baps too.

Yeah, thinking of having Mata Silva and Nani/Young/Bale.

Don't want to get rid of Ade as he is always likely to grab a goal or two every game.

        Could go with this:

        Krul - Ruddy

        PJones-Enrique-McAuley-Simpson-Naylor
        Bale-Mata-Silva-Walters-BJohnson
        Van Persie-Ade-Ba

If I get Nani for Bale it would mean getting rid of Enrique for 4,8 mi defender.

Tough call. Bale in form of his life but his fixtures not as good as Nani's for the next few weeks.

Taylor, when your team includes players who have Blackburn or Wigan at home you play them, otherwise pointless having them.

My ShawX to Baines transfer last week was a fail but my Zamora to Yakubu was a success (unless Bobby scores 5 tonight!)

I have 1 ft and was thinking of dumping Baines just for this week and bringing him back in for his 2 home games.

I want to captain RVP but I already have Howard (no second goalie as I have Hilario!!)

So who will score more for this gameweek alone?

    A) Vidic (H) versus Wolves
    B) Vermaelen (H) versus Everton

    Thanks in advance!

Personally I'm thinking Vidic is due a goal.......

I guess he could drop Lennon and play VdV out there but not sure that is the best news.

RVP will most likely score well again, but:
Larsson - New manager syndrome plus Blackburn's defence has been letting them in for fun.
Ba - Good form, and Norwich letting them in for fun.

Think I'll risk it with one of those two.

I'm quite glad the 'record' has gone, it was a burden. Rather it hadnt been in a real 6 pointer but still, i really think it has affected our ambition in games. With that out of the way we can start to risk losing the 1 point to try and make it 3 which i think you have to do when you want top 2, particularly against sides that arent necessarily promotion rivals.

Must admit, i fancy us this year.

Same dilemma here. I have Jones but he's defensive coverage so doesn't count (even though he scored this week 8) )

It's tough because Utd have fixtures but aren't performing. Mata is playing City but his FF form is up there with Silva, if not better! And they play Wigan after City.
