The EA Sports Player Performance Index numbers are out, with the Fantasy Premier League applying them to the game to add the gameweek 14 bonus points. Here’s a match-by-match breakdown of how they map out….

Blackburn 4 Swansea 2
Bonus – Yakubu 3, Samba 2, Givet & Vukcevic 1

It’s no surprise to find four-goal Yakubu leading the way in the PPI stakes from this game. Indeed, the Nigerian recorded the top overall PPI score of the gameweek, with a huge return of 73. Assists and defensive statistics saw both Chris Samba and Gael Givet record big PPI totals, with Simon Vukcevic’s two assist contribution from the bench enough to see him share a single bonus point with Givet. Scott Dann and Jason Lowe were just outside the bonus reckoning as the Blackburn defence racked up some decent numbers in the 4-2 win.

Wigan 0 Arsenal 4
Bonus – Van Persie 3, Arteta 2, Vermaelen 1

Robin Van Persie once again seals the maximum bonus thanks to a goal and a pair of assists in the 4-0 win at Wigan. Once more he’s joined by Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen, who seem regular recipients of bonus in recent weeks. Arteta sneaks ahead of the Belgian by 3 PPI points to claim the 2 bonus here. Gervinho missed out on a share of the single bonus by just one PPI point.

Newcastle 0 Chelsea 3
Bonus – Terry 3, Sturridge 2, Kalou 1

A clean sheet and an array of impressive defensive statistics were enough to see John Terry claim the top PPI score from Chelsea’s 3-0 win. He topped Daniel Sturridge by a clear 10 points, the striker’s efforts off target perhaps contributing to the margin. Salomon Kalou’s goal from the bench saw him nudge past Ramires by a single PPI point to claim the remaining bonus.

Man City 5 Norwich 1
Bonus – Yaya Toure 3, Silva 2, Nasri 1

The PPI rankings looked hard to predict in this game, and so it proved. Yaya Toure’s goal and midfield efforts were enough to have him claim the maximum here, but bonus for David Silva and Samir Nasri both looked unlikely. Nasri edged out fellow goalscorers Adam Johnson and Sergio Aguero to claim the single bonus point, while Silva’s assist and attacking efforts were enough to see him earn the two.

Spurs 3 Bolton 0
Bonus – Defoe 3, Bale 2, Lennon 1

Tottenham’s three goalscorers hogged the top PPI ranks here, with Defoe claiming top spot and the maximum FPL bonus. Gareth Bale trailed by just 4 PPI, while Lennon recorded 11 PPI less than the Welshman but still held off the claims of Luka Modric and Kyle Walker to claim the remaining bonus point.

QPR 1 West Brom 1
Bonus – Long 3, Barton 2, Gabbidon & Young 1

Shane Long’s equaliser helped him to a PPI score of 30, nudging him ahead of QPR’s Joey Barton to fetch the maximum bonus in the Loftus Road stalemate. Those two were streets ahead of the pack, with Daniel Gabbidon and Luke Young sharing a single bonus back on 13 PPI.

Aston Villa 0 Man United 1
Bonus – Jones 3, Nani 2, Vidic & Smalling 1

The deciding goal from Phil Jones, coupled with a clean sheet, unsurprisingly saw him earn the 3 bonus points from United’s win at Villa Park. Nani’s assist and attacking threat fetched him a PPI score of 29, with defenders Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic sharing a return of 20 to split the remaining bonus point.

Wolves 2 Sunderland 1
Bonus – Fletcher 3, Jarvis 2, Richardson 1

Steven Fletcher’s brace turned this game on its head and saw him claim an impressive 55 point PPI return. Matt Jarvis’ assist allowed him to edge ahead of the pack with a PPI of 22 to earn the 2 bonus, with Black Cats’ goalscorer Kieran Richardson fetching the final bonus with a PPI of 21.

Everton 0 Stoke 1
Bonus – Huth 3, Shawcross 2, Crouch, Whelan & Etherington 1

Goalscorer Robert Huth registered a PPI score of 40 to easily claim the maximum FPL bonus from Stoke’s 1-0 win at Goodison. Fellow centre-back Ryan Shawcross put in a strong defensive showing to push himself ahead of a chasing pack; his PPI score of 19 was just enough for him to earn the 2 bonus, with Peter Crouch, Matt Etherington and Glenn Whelan all sharing the remaining bonus point with PPI scores of 17.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmm, is it time to get some big hitting defenders in? My backline of Raylor, McAuley, Wilkinson, Brown and Enrique dragged in 4 points between them (Enrique still to play obviously). Meanwhile, rivals have been bathing in Jones and Richards (luckily none had Vermaelen).

Don't want to kneejerk based on one week, as this strategy has got me the lead in my minileague. But I'm fairly sure I'll be doing Chicho > Ba this week. To follow my initial strategy, I'd boost my mid, but maybe a Verm or a Jones or even a Baines might be a better alternative next week. All depends on VDV/Drenthe really.

    STEVEN TAYLOR REPLACEMENTS

Poor eld Saylor, was having a really good season and I thought he had a good claim (well better than Gary Cahill) for making the Euro2012 squad. Anyway, here are a few of the players I'm considering as a replacement. One word of advice though - I wouldn't recommend Newcastle defenders as a straight swap, until Coloccini returns. With Williamson still injured (he's not great anyway) if Colo is out we could see the horror pairing of Simpson and Perch at CB against Norwich. URGH. Anyway here's my list

Given their forthcoming fixtures I would recommend a Spurs defender, but it can wait until GW16. So consider either Walker (5.7) or BAE (5.1) as they have a chance of rewarding you with attacking points, important as Spurs have never been too reliable for clean sheets.

If you can't afford Baines then Jagielka (5.4) is worth considering given Evertons forthcoming fixtures. Though they seem unable to keep clean sheets at the moment. Heitinga (5.2) could be a good diff and possibly offers a little more attacking potential than Jagielka.

Again wait until after this GW and consider Samba (5.4), clean sheets may be a rarity but he offers real attacking threat and good bonus potential. Worth considering as they have some nice fixtures on the horizon.

Cheap Man Utd defenders are only for those who love a punt (potentially rhyming slang), trying to predict who will start other than Vidic and Evra can sometimes be a lottery. But I still think Smalling (5.2) is worth considering if it looks likely he will play. Evans is more of a gamble.

After playing Man Utd away, Wolves have a couple of nice fixtures for the short term too. Anyway bored of this now, hope someone found it useful. Visit my website at http://www.IstateTheBleedinObvious.co.uk 😛

I think most Newcastle fans were surprised by Lovenkrands inclusion, and were also apprehensive. He wont defend, so putting him in front of our weakest defensive link was a bad move by Pardew - hence why Chelsea just overran us on that side.

Anyway I did say fair play to the scouts both here and on twitter, so bugger thee off.

OK, I will. For what it's worth, based on MotD highlights, I thought the Barcodes were rather unlikely, they played reasonably well and it could have been very different if A) Sideshow Bob was sent off, as he should have been, and B) Ba was a bit luckier. 😀

              🙂
Yeah Ba was incredibly unlucky - thought he played really well. After Colo went off we struggled, Perch didn't do too badly, but he was at fault for Drogba's goal. The second pretty much killed it, and I dont even count the third as Steve Taylor was off leaving us with ten men and Obertan RB. I would have scored! (Notably Torres still couldnt though 😛 )

I've liked having 5under1and's Brown and Steve Taylor for the nice rotation, and as you say MON might tighten them up a bit. Worth thinking about a Mackem defender I suppose if you dont already have one, but bear in mind they are on direct rotation with Newcastle - so if you were already rotating Saylor with someone it wont work.

Boyata (AVL) Turner (BLA) Baines (ars) Verm (EVE) Enrique
    Silva (che) Bale (sto)
RVP (EVE) Ba (nor) Aguero (che)

Of those, I'd say only Walters has really delivered on his promise so far, and I'm not really desperate to get any of them in my team.

Admittedly there is potential and good stats in all of them, but they've largely frustrated so far.

I'd add Brunt and Moses to that list too.

    Guy what ye think?
Spurs, need to beat Shamrock rovers by 4+ goals and for Paok Fc to beat Rubin Kasan , to sneak 2nd place in group of UEFA. ( very possible )

hence, Defoe will be rested this week and play Uefa on the 15th.
VdV will start on the 11th. any logic to this ? or has Harry given up on Uefa spot?

Woga, the logic stands up but Droopy doesn't really care about the UEFA. But I would agree, Defoe and probably Pav will play against Shamrock. However, I wouldn't necessarily bet that he'll be dropped against Stoke, although it's very possible.

IMO - I don't think Harry will start ade and defoe against stoke (stoke too physical). So VDV will start to support Ade. But i do think Defoe might come on for 75th minute to rest VDV (risk of injury) or rest up adebayor (possible to start against shamrock for a last attempt effort of UEFA cup).

Then Sunderland at home... VDV ---> goals GALORE =).

Obvious choice is Bale, other obvious options Nani, Mata; but I'd have a good look at Pool aswell, so maybe Adam or Maxi worth a punt!

So what are we doing about Hernandez?
My frontline is RVP Hernandez and Abysmal Bendy.

    Thinking Hernandez > Ba?
Leaves me with 8mill in the bank though lol

I still have Drenthe and Allen injured for upcoming week.
Also, why did Wilkinson play only 38mins? Did he come on as a sub (for who?) or was he injured after starting the game?

With one free transfer and 2.4m cash in the bank I don't know who to get rid of first - Woodgate, Turner, Drenthe or Ramsey...

My defence looks alright with Enrique, Simpson and Vidic for the next gameweek if the other two I've mentioned don't play, and can't think of any midfielders 8.4-8.9 or lower - not sure if I want to get rid of Drenthe either really as he may come good the next time he plays again.

Just noticed - if I get rid of Rooney (admittedly I probably wont) for Berbatov I can get Bale for Drenthe. Main thing in favour is Berbatov is only owned by 1.0% and I do love my diff's. Its the time of year for a Berbamegascoreatov (c) as well 😉

Gamble and a half, but worth considering.

Don;t do it. I genuinely think when he's played he's looked as livley and inerested as I've ever seen him in a United shirt but Fergie still seems to not favour him. Get him if you want, but don't expect more than a ten minute cameo every other week

Not done this before but I keep changing my mind about what to do so here's my team:

    Vorm, Krul
    Walker, Enrique, Shawcross, Rangel, Tierney
    Silva, Mata, Bale, Walters, Moses
    Aguero, Suarez, Yakubu

    2.3 in the bank.

Obviously I've been trying to free up money recently with the 2.3 in the bank, but I've no idea what to do with it. Done ok without RVP so far but think I might just bite the bullet and get him in for Aguero now with City fixtures getting tougher. Or should I spend the money to boost defence (obviously Rangel needs to be out) or upgrade Moses? RVP for Aguero would bring in 0.5 btw.
    Cheers!
