Nathan Redmond has usurped team-mate Dusan Tadic as part of this morning’s Watchlist refresh.

With the dust settled from the opening day’s action, we’ve dipped back into the rankings for our daily re-assessment and promoted the former Norwich winger up the midfield standings.

Priced at just 6.0 and deployed as part of a front two by manager Claude Puel, Redmond appears to be our first priority in the mid-price.

The drop for Tadic is harsh. He was outstanding in the 1-1 draw with Watford and produced some performance statistics that suggest he will be a major Fantasy force over the campaign. We will keep monitoring his displays.

But Redmond got his goal and his own numbers were equally impressive: his potential and value is just too strong.

With Puel talking him up at every opportunity, it would be remiss to overlook his appeal at the expense of Tadic and also striker Shane Long.

Southampton’s fixtures will certainly test Redmond’s output.

Puel’s side must now face trips to Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester. But St Mary’s meetings with Sunderland and Swansea appear to provide the platform for the former Canary to go on producing.

He stacks up behind a cast of heavy-hitting midfielders but may well surpass some of that pack once the Gameweek 1 fixtures are complete.

Today we will be monitoring the performances of Roberto Firmino and Alexis Sanchez in particular.

Further down our list we saw Ross Barkley make positive strides having notched on the opening day once again.

Middlesbrough’s Gaston Ramirez also consolidated his position as our midfield weapon of choice in Aitor Karanka’s ranks.

We’re also showing patience with Andros Townsend. He demonstrated enough to suggest he’ll be a key goal threat for Crystal Palace and his mid-term fixtures remain favourabe. He holds his position as another mid-price consideration.

Further down, Erik Lamela sneaks in to our reckoning. We will be debating his rank further this week, with Dele Alli already coming under pressure as the key target in Tottenham’s midfield ahead of their encouraging schedule.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Do I chase points and inevitable price increases with Tadic to Redmond and Vardy to Ibra (pending today's game)

    or

hold firm and take confidence from Tadic's performance and the fact Vardy had the chances but just didn't look at 100% and should improve.

Are either Vardy or Tadic about to drop in price?

Tadic I'd keep but if Ibra has an excellent game, I'd pull the trigger in Vardy > Ibra.

I'd say hold for now, Vardy could easily get a couple next weekend. Tadic looked good as well from what I saw on MoTD.

I have kept money in the bank in case that happens. I went with Kane + 0.5 in the bank cause I wasn't exactly convinced by his positioning in the CS match.

If he does well and scores points, that would be a tough one because Kane has Palace at home this week

Of course ibra is more likely for points but couldn't resist the midfield of Sanchez Firmino Oscar Redmond - and it goes without saying that Kun is a necessity.

Funds had to be saved, Mourinho said he'll be deployed further forward and I imagine he's 1st name on the team sheet, we'll see...

Having watched the Burnley - Swansea game, thought some might like a brief summary of how Gray looked:

Main positive was he ran the channels well and looked a bit of a handful in that respect. One on one in those situations he should be able to beat his man and get shots off. Could also get some joy from Vokes flick-ons.

The worry would be the lack of creativity in the Burnley midfield. Centre midfielders struggled to get a foothold in the game and don't appear to have much quality in terms of being able to slide balls through. Not sure if this is a major strength of Defour? Likewise, Boyd and Arfield don't have much pace and will struggle to beat opposing full-backs. Gudmundsson should get a start very soon then in the hope he can improve upon this, stats suggest he will, but PL a big step up.

Tricky one for owners as you'd fancy he could do well against Hull and Watford, but if the Liverpool and Chelsea defences look decent over the next 48 hours, I doubt many will show the patience to keep him for those matches.

      • 10 Years

I think Defour and Gudmundsson will help a lot and are definitely a big upgrade on the current players in those positions.

It took Leicester a penalty to beat the Hull defence. Admittedly, LEI looked very poor but it is looking like the early assumption that Hull will be this season's whipping boys was very misguided.

He was the worst of the three wingers who played (Barrow & Montero) the others. Will probably keep his place for Hull if you own him, but obviously with the fixtures thereafter he's unlikely to be of much use.

Got tired playing as the FWD. Koeman seems to trust him and I suspect he will play the full 90 when Lukaku lines up and he's back on the wings.

If you still like him (cos you had to have reasons for picking him in the first place) , I'd hold. Unless you think your evaluation of him/Everton was wrong then I'd switch. It's only GW1 after all.

I'd keep and play him against Arsenal.

Still a bit knee-jerky but I'd transfer him after that. As mentioned, him not being in PKs means I kinda need to start seeing some goals soon. Hell, might go in for Lukaku, if Koeman can make Barkley look 'must-have', interesting what he could do with the Belgian.

            Moi? So la la..
37 points. Gray(c) is a punt I wanted to take at the start of the season - no punts on captaincy from now on.
Went Tadic & Townsy above Lamela+Redmond after millions switches between them.

Just Haz, Firmino, Valencia left - Would be glad if finish the GW within top-400K

That was my inital dilemma. I went with Kun/Ibra/Gray, and Capoue on bench. I think it gives more flexibility - with four midfield spots, and three striker spots to change around with.

A bit disappointing with a blank from Gray, but that's the only negative on a pretty sweet first day of the season. My overly cheap defence worked out (double WBA, though the rest of the 4.5-ers didn't do a whole lot), the money spent on Mahrez paid off and the Redmond "punt" worked out fine.

Feel pretty good with Ibra, Hazard and Firmino yet to play.

I think we were hindered by pairing Dier and Wanyama together. Once one went off we found our flow and dominated the middle of the pitch. Kane needed help as he was occupying 3 defenders. Jansenn looked excellent though. If Poch perseveres with 2 up front Jansenn could be a bargain

Wait for the GW to end. But gun to head, Vardy. No PKs and should other strikers like Costa, Carroll and Ibra look the business...It's going to make owning him difficult. He did uncharacteristically have a terrible day in front of goal.

Morning all. Bitterly disappointed by my score of 27 from 8. I stand by my decision to select Vardy but perhaps captaining him wasn't a great idea. Selecting Townsend over Lamela also hurt a lot as I ended up benching Foster and McAuley in favour of Heaton and Friend.

Any feedback on Townsend's performance? I have 1 mil in the bank so there are options there. I am minded to give Vardy and Gray more time, although an upgrade to Kane or Negredo could be on the cards...
