Gameweek 14 saw 512 fantasy managers do battle in the second round of the fifth Paddy Power Cup. The full list of results can be accessed by clicking right here. Read on for some of the highlights from the round…

In successive weeks we’ve now lost two former tournament winners, with Gooner dave biting the dust this time after losing 69 – 63 to DaFoe22. There was better luck for Jonty and Ninja_Fit_Saints, who progressed at the expense of Duggans Dreamteam (91 – 50) and 369 mofo (74 – 66) respectively.

Also heading into the third round is Mark, who came out on top in an epic 89 – 87 match with McEwan. He’s now the last remaining Scout after greek fan succumbed  79 – 76 to mvtaylor.

Round One’s top dog, Gulikgul, couldn’t recreate any of the magic from last week, as he crashed out embarrassingly 82 – 41 to Gorby. That was the seventh-worst score of the round, and even if he could captain his entire team he would’ve still been knocked out.

It was left then to elfortu to earn the top score this week, with an incredible 112 – thrashing chemikills (60) as a result. He was one of four fantasy managers notching a ton this week, along with theonefjef (107), This is hard 1 (107) and The Yassasinators (101) also reached the milestone.

Also through this week is bobbyg, who went into the second round as the highest-ranked fantasy manager in the competition and lived up to his billing as one of the early favourites. The now 50th in the world team ran out 76 – 70 winners against huma.

Congratulations to everyone making it through to the next stage, and commiserations to those exiting the competition at this moment.

The draw for the third round will be made and published on Thursday.

If I were you I'd be tempted to tinker to Mata, sideways yes, but a much better player.

Sell him and improve your team with the spare cash. He's a 12m rotation risk, who's 1 yellow card away from a ban so could easily miss that Wigan game too

    Vorm/(Given)
    Shawcross Jones Richards BAE (Simpson)
    Brunt Larsson Bale Silva (N.Dyer)
    RVP(C) Rooney Yakubu

Which 2 defenders should I start between Shawcross,Richards and BAE,
*I have 1.1m and 1 FT, any pressing transfers needed?
I want to transfer out Given, who rotates well with Vorm?

      Drop ShawX

Think you can save a transfer this week, Brunt vs Wigan.

Try and get Howard if you can afford him but that can wait till next week when you have 2 free transfers 🙂

Howard rotates with Vorm, has cracking fixtures and a double before the next wildcard comes in.

      Now change your bloody name!

evra vidic enrique baines and verm/terry

requires an 8pt hit this week tho but would be removing caulker vdv and aguero, so 1 wont play, 1 might not and the other is away at chelsea

well barring an opportunity to use back-to-back wildcards i may use my two after gwk21 and after gwk25 as during that period alot of the top teams play each other, trebling on fulham during that period is an idea

havent looked from gwk25 onwards yet

nice fixtures for the big 4 up until gwk21 = rotation for the attackers whereas the likes of vidic terry etc will play and hopefully score well

then wildcard after gwk21 when the fixture congestion ends to sort it out

Thanks. Am manouevering to invest in defence at the moment but was only really thinking in terms of rotation but the rest, including exit strategy, make good sense. Cheers.

I have no Utd cover and I'm toying with Enrique to Jones for a hit. Is this madness? Enrique seems to get a lot of love here but I've had him for some time and he's not really returned at all.
Utd look so much more likely to keep CS in the next 5 or so games.
    Thoughts?

I took a 4 point hit for Jones 3 weeks ago, in that time he's got me 21 points (he didn't play v Newcastle) think he's repaid that hit I disagree with that.

If your advising other users to transfer in defenders in points hits that will only work out if those defenders start scoring goals, then you're giving bad advice.

Well yes, as a blanket rule , not taking hits for defs is a reasonable one, but there are exceptions when form & fixtures align.
I could do Sinclair to Nani instead for my Utd cover. Just feel I really need to get some ManU defense in there soon.

I am itching to pull the trigger on VDV - the just one more week excuse is getting lame and if i dont do it now it doesnt leave enough time to get someone bedded in before the eventual re-buy before the double game week (assuming he is fit and well and will play both matches)

VDV went 4 weeks ago for Bale.... Worked out pretty well! Hes a class act but that hamstring is a worry, could score 15 points, but could also be rested after 60 minutes (Defoe and Adebayor have played well together....) If I had the choice would be Bale over VDV - Allows the money to be spread elsewhere!

I can't see Larsson starting on the flanks again as ON prefers those who have pace. Larsson would be given a CAM role if ON truned out to be an admirer, just like Milner was at Villa.

    Silva, Bale, VDV, Walcott (dyer)

I am a United fan, and recently United have been playing well.... Wolves have showed some real character recently but they do conceed regularly! I would say if you can squeeze in Nani or Rooney then yes the rest of the side is really hard to pick because of rotation!

Done my weekend transfers early.... (Avoid price rises)

    Kompany > Smalling & Ramsey > Nani for a 4 point hit

    Team:
    Vorm
    Smalling, R.Taylor, Brown
    Silva, Nani(VC), Bale, Sessengon
    Adebayor, Sturridge, RVP(C)

    Bench:
    Given, Dyer, ShawX, BAE

Picked R.Taylor over BAE and ShawX as I have 2 Tottenham attackers, and R.Taylor will be a bigger threat to the leaky Norwich defense...

    What do you all think?

Yeah, what happened to him? I had some good chat's with him. Pity Dorrans never lived up to his reputation. Adam was the boytjie.

There are a couple of posters that just disappeared. Demented Flamingo was on here for a change this morning. Then there was that Dadoune? guy from Mauritius that did well last year. Camzy. LOL

I'm sure he had a Egyptian flag on his fpl profile and he praised Elmohomaddy week in week out when Sun bought him.

Hope he is ok after what went down in Egypt.

Yeah he kept saying he was Egyptian and lived in Egypt and had the Eyptian flag, but then someone on Total FPL somehow (don't know how) found out he was from Isle of Man apparently. Odd.

hmm, considering getting rid of Silva - he isn't really do THAT well

This whole time I've been thinking "Silva is a season keeper" but looking at his points over the last few weeks 5,8,1,5,7

It is still very good but not captain material and nothing that would hurt me if I went for another cheaper player instead and it backfired

Depends what you paid for him initially. If like me you had him from the start then those returns are ok for a 9.5 mid. Whether its considered acceptable at his current value of 10.5 is up for debate.

Mr consistent over the season so far, only getting low scores when benched or taken off early for CL games!! - Yes two tough fixtures, but they have destroyed all in their path so far!

Ok, I'm, considering Schwarzer to replace Westwood rather than Howard, they both rotate well with Vorm

I am doing this because a) Schwarzer allows to me get Verm (I can give it 1 more week to see if Verm still has value at LB) without losing BAE and b) although he has DGW I think I'd be mad to pit him against VdV and Bale as someone loses out in that one.

Any Brown owners more confident of CS now O'Neil has arrived?

He was in my plans to get rid after this GW (home to ROVERS), but now I'm having 2nd thoughts and think with games coming up such as qpr, EVERTON, wigan, SWANSEA, NORWICH and the fact he's only 4.5 makes sense to keep him right through to Winter WC time.

This, however, would mean getting shut of Kompany instead, but City seem intent on forfeiting CS and instead aiming to attack and just score more than the opposition.

I have Brown and he is to stay.... Sunderland are not a BAD side at all, just out of form!

MON is a very good manager and will get them up and running in no time!

They have conceeded 19 in 17 games - which compared to other sides in the league is pretty low and less than Swansea who seem to have a big FF following....

      £4.5m is good value imo.
