Nemanja Vidic has suffered suspected knee ligament damage in tonight’s 2-1 Champions League defeat in Basel.

Vidic was stretchered from the proceedings a couple of minutes before half-time to be replaced by Jonny Evans with his team 1-0 down. United have tonight confirmed that they will await scans before offering a prognosis on the injury, although their early report indicates that the player himself fears he has sustained medial ligament damage having left the stadium on crutches.

The possibility of the United skipper being sidelined suddenly offers up a few quandaries for Fantasy managers.

There’s no doubt his return from a calf injury in gameweek 10 had an immediate effect on a previously shaky back line. The last five games have seen United return four clean sheets, with only a Demba Ba penalty preventing a clean sweep. Ahead of a favourable run of fixtures, the likes of Phil Jones have been transferred in by vast number of Fantasy numbers, with the champions’ defence looking formidable with Vidic alongside Rio Ferdinand in the heart of the back-four.

An absence for Vidic would surely have a significant effect on the plans of Fantasy managers. If he is out, only Patrice Evra could be the closest United defender to being nailed on but their resilience will surely drop without their skipper- can we really expect the same sort of defensive returns?

Jonny Evans could be set for a recall to the first team, having missed the last four and at 4.5 in FPL, could perhaps be a decent punt, given the cut-price outlay required. It remains to be seen how much game time he’d get if Vidic is confirmed as sidelined for a prolonged spell, although it’s worth noting that Alex Ferguson played him in nine of United’s first ten fixtures.

Phil Jones, at 6.4 and rising, looks set for more investment, with his adaptability vital to his game time, while Chris Smalling, at 5.2, could also come into plenty folks’ thinking.

We await further news from the United camp in the next 24-hours.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Yep. Eagles has some decent potential, but can't see why you'd play him ahead of Sturridge even with their respective fixtures.

tough call, i like what eagles does for bolton. I guess this is a good problem to have. I always seem to bench the wrong one in these situations though. 🙁

But I'm happy to say I'll sit on my hands this week. My mini league rivals have to sort out Saylor and Hernandez injurys.

    RVP | Ba | Ade

1st : look good? thinking no changes
2nd : do you guys like Brown vs Blackburn or Walters vs Tottenham…I would say Brown but I think Yakubu will score , so that means only 2pts for him….if Walters scores its +4

Team looks very solid to me.

My prediction would be 2 pts a piece for Yak and Walters, but if I had to choose I'd say a Brown cleanie is more likely that Walters scoring any pts against an in form Spurs side.

I would like to agree with you....yet the demolished Man U 6-1 at home.....something no1 has done in 40 years or something. City have the talent to win any game...but I agree that both Real and Barca would pick them apart...but still would have been a game to watch....their attacking style is class

That my friends is just a q of time I predict city in a ucl final in next two years, that team has wc winner, ucl winner , Europa winner and a team of internationals. Add another 3/4 signings and they can overcome Barcelona and rm and likes oy bayern , it is my friends with great sadness that I make this statement .

So I have been struggling all week on what to do with my FT. I have two injuries and 3 doubtfuls in my team but don't want to bring anyone in with a bad fixture this week (Chelsea/Everton) or are out of form (United attackers). I have also taken a position to not get Bale or Ba as I am too late for that party (hopefully it will burst soon). However I devised a cunning plan to get in a player who is in form and has nice fixtures.

can anyone guess who it is and what I am planning to do? team is linked

Is anybody concerned that the forecast snow may have an impact on games this w/e. The north west seems most at risk. It has to be said though that current forecasts seem to indicate that only Scotland will be badly affected, with northern England only getting small accumulations except on high ground.

I pushed the button last night on getting rid of Suarez. Had enough after the latest 'charge'-I think it's possible he may accept it before the weekend. I think he's bang to rights on this one and he may want to look 'honest' and 'apologetic' in the eyes of the FA.(Just a wild hunch).

I just think that Nani/Yak is a better combo this weekend and for next 3 fixtures than Suarez/Ramsey.

    Hi all,

I'm new to this site so please be kind!!

It's my second season and I'm starting to get a good feel for FPL.

Question: is Baines worth it? Also for dgw, should I load up on defenders, midfielders or forwards - who would score best?

    Current team:
    Vorm, Krul
Jones, R Taylor, Jagielka, Jose Enrique, N Taylor
    Silva, Nani, Bale, Walters, Ramsey
    RVP, Sturridge, Adebayor.

I'm looking to have 3 Eve and Tot players by week 19. Suggestions?

      1) Baines is worth it after the Arsenal game if your willing to take a punt
      2) Forwards and midfielders always outscore defenders, period (The exception of Baines or other defenders playing oop, or on free kicks, penalties etc)
      3) Spurs: Ade, Bale, Lennon, BAE, Walker, VDV Eve: Baines, Jags, Drenthe? meh thats it

    Suarez owners dont panic.

Although it would appear that the FA have it in for Suarez and Liverpool, players charged with hand gestures generally get a fine.

Of course, the Fergies Association is not corrupt!
