Harry Redknapp’s Friday press conference brought us an array of interesting developments ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Stoke.

The Spurs boss has reported that striker Jermain Defoe has a slight hamstring problem, defender Ledley King is trying to recover from the knee injury sustained in training last Friday, while Gareth Bale picked up a slight knock against Bolton last weekend.

“We’ve one or two knocks…Jermain has had a bit of a hamstring this week, Ledley took a bang on the knee in training last week and Gareth has had a problem this week. We’ll wait and see how they are.”

Fantasy managers will immediately be on alert to the news concerning Bale and Defoe – for very different reasons. Bale has been a major transfer target this week and his possible absence would come as a serious blow to his recent investors. For our money, he’ll start, although clearly there is some doubt based on Redknapp’s statement.

The news on Defoe is perhaps more significant as it could directly influence the chances of Rafael Van der Vaart earning a recall to the starting lineup. The Dutchman was kept on the bench following a return from his own hamstring injury against Bolton. However, if there is a doubt over Defoe’s fitness, there’s every chance that this would help justify the re-introduction of Van der Vaart, despite Defoe’s recent form.

Realistically, if either Bale or Defoe are absent, Van der Vaart will surely start at Stoke – an outcome that will concern the thousands who have already opted to sacrifice the Dutchman prior to the gameweek deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Was Planning on VDV > Nani but now considering Bale > Nani, already have Adebayor.

In my Mini League almost everyone has Bale & Ade and no one above me has VDV. Is it worth the Bale > Nani Transfer?

I'm expecting big things from Nani over the next few weeks, but who knows, could completely backfire. Go with your gut.

If it is free it could be worth a punt. Could be a nice differential and Nani is overdue a blinder.

I think Bale will make it, I'd perhaps make sure you have a good sub just in case.

Good news! My relationship is definitely gaining ground.

Now Bale is injured, should I upgrade Ferguson for a hit or keep as. Got 1.5 in the bank.

    Vorm
    Enrique, Jones, Raylor
    Silva, VDV, Walters, Bale
    RVP(c), Adebayor, Ba(vc)

    Ruddy, ShawX, Gabbidion, Ferguson

maybe upgrade one of your defenders (probably Gabbidon or even Shawcross as he has tough enough fixtures) -
Or upgrade Ferg, but there isn't that many good midfielders priced at 5.5m or under. Gower at 4.5 or maybe take a risk on Ben Arfa at 5.4

    Considering:
Jones, Enrique, Kompany with (Richards, Simpson) subs ... what do you guys think?

    Also have 2 free transfers but think I'm gonna hold off and let 1 go to waste. Here's my team;

Ramsey definately - and I'd side with Mata based on recent performances, or maybe even Walcott (i've a similar team and sided with Walcott)

Rambo has been nothing but disappointment hey, especially when u see replays of how many goals he's missed in the last 8 weeks! Ramsey > Nani would be the smart choice methinks
