Hot on the heels of the Fifth Round results, I bring you the fixtures for the last 16 of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. With just eight match-ups to look at this time, it’s clear to see that the competition is reaching it’s conclusion. So without further ado, here are the all important fixtures…
- Back to Back Ballacks Vs. gooner dave
- DRP Vs. Animons
- Manif Vs. tippman
- Roger Vs. DaFoe22
- Ann_der_roo Vs. User
- sandgrounder Vs. Anorak
- BigRig Vs. Dksbananas
- DollyDaisy Vs. RJBroughton
The first fixture sees 3,297th in the world gooner dave taking on Back to Back Ballacks, who sits 85,623rd. Plenty of differentials in this one, with just six identical players. Despite the gulf in overall rank, it’s actually Back to Back Ballacks who has the greater squad value, so this tie is very difficult to call. Tevez could be the difference.
Next up, we have a closely-matched tie, as DRP (sitting on 665 points) takes on Animons (on 664 points). That point lead effectively gives DRP a half-point advantage going into the game, provided he doesn’t make another transfer.
Then we see tournament-outsider Manif, who is the lowest ranked manager left in the competition (despite moving up over 400k places since before round one), taking on tippman, who of course beat Mark in the very first round.
Last week’s top-scorer Roger (1,851st overall), has been drawn against DaFoe22 (6,028th overall). Once again the lower-ranked contender has the, albeit slight, team value advantage. An unusual tactic from Roger, sees him looking for the clean sheets that cost. With Petr Cech setting you back £6.7m, Ashley Cole £8.3m, Nemanja Vidic £7.4m and Leighton Baines£7.0m (with Seamus Coleman there to double up on Everton defenders), good defensive returns could be enough to see Roger through to the quarter-finals.
Round three top-scorer, and highest ranked manager in the competition, Ann_der_roo (44th in the world) takes on 13,266th in the world, User.
Spurs-fan Anorak will have his loyalties tested when he takes on sandgrounder, as Rafael Van der Vaart looks to be a key differential for the latter. On the flip-side, Liverpool-fan sandgrounder will have his loyalties tested when he takes on Anorak, as Paul Konchesky looks to be a key differential for the latter.
The penultimate tie of the round pits BigRig against Dksbananas. Both will be looking to show their bouncebackability and end the week with not only a quarter-final place, but also a green arrow.
Last, but by no means least, is DollyDaisy‘s game against RJBroughton. Both men sit locked together on 667 points, but it’s DollyDaisy’s superior midfield of Cesc Fabregas, Tim Cahill, Rafael Van der Vaart, Mikel Arteta and Matthew Etherington, to RJBroughton’s midfield of Clint Dempsey, Luis Nani, Gareth Bale, Mikel Arteta and Karl Henry, that will be the key difference for me.
So that’s that, all fixtures will be played out over Gameweek 13, and I’ll bring you the results early next week, before the live quarter-final draw on next podcast. As always, the top-scorer for the round will earn a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.
