The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

The third round of the Paddy Power Cup V saw 256 fantasy managers go head-to-head over the course of Gameweek 15. The results of which are in, and can be viewed right here. Read on for a round-up of how some of the ties of note played out…

Another round and another former champ exits the competition. This time it’s FFS Cup II winner, Jonty, who has been eliminated after a crushing 68 – 59 defeat at the hands of 66irons. That leaves Ninja_fit_saints alone in the hunt to achieve the unprecedented – a second tournament win.

Chief Scout Mark also casts a lonely figure as the only remaining contributor; he powers on into the fourth round after a 70 – 41 demolition of domo. Intimidating stuff.

This week’s top-scorer was Cabaroota Beach queens, who tonked rakkhi 93 – 67. In the fourth round, he’ll be hoping to avoid the same fate that met the two previous top-scorers, both of which were knocked out the very next round. Round two top-scorer, elfortu, was battered 84 – 49 by a rampant EasyLuckyFree.

Also bowing out this week is bobbyg who, even now, is the highest ranked fantasy manager involved in the third round. He lost a nail-biter 63 – 62 to Lestat, but only slips two places overall to 52nd in the world.

Having wiped the floor 82 – 66 with theotherguy, hootneil now stands as the highest ranked competitor, only two behind bobbyg in 54th.

Four matches ended level, which meant that overall ranking had to be looked at to find a winner. Their previous 14 week’s work put Brosna Stars, evertonalstars, The Yassasinators and MaRkEsTuTe through at the expense of meltedman, evers, rocket science and jils respectively.

Congratulations to the 128 in the hat for the fourth round (the draw for which will be made on Thursday), and commiserations to everyone else.

No Chelsea coverage! Team is as follows:

    Vorm - Ruddy

    Naylor - Richards - Simpson - Enrique - Barnett

    O'Hara - VDV - Nani - Silva - Dyer

    RVP - Adebayor - Ba

Want to bring in one of either Mata or Sturridge and I have 2 free trades this week.. I'm thinking of either VDV -> Mata and Richards -> Jones.

    Thoughts?

if you really want mata, vdv->mata seems the only logical solution. you still have ade for coverage, and you dont want to take out any of those strikers right now.

i know wigan is tasty, but if you can hold off two weeks after wig and tot, then you got FUL, AV, wol, SUN.

so you could hang with VDV the next two weeks with his home ties, then make the move, hoping the dutchmen gives you something.

But if he does, you get to enjoy dropping a player with a DGW around the corner.

I have disgusting man-love for VDV, so maybe my opinion isnt valid.

Sturridge is competing with Kalou and Anelka (china bound) Torres competes with Drogba, Mata competes with Malouda and so on.

That to me says Sturridge is more nailed on than a bunch of extras in the final scene of Life of Brian.

          Hibbert - 233 league appearances 0 goals
          Jagielka - 384 leage appearances 22 goals

Don't know if BAE is as much of a shoe-in as he once was, given Redknapps tactical ideas but K Walker probably is.

point taken. i just rather pay big to get a defender that is a little more prone to attack , or just go dirt cheap for the CS. Jags is one of those guys that fall into that middle area that doesnt excite me.

    I NEED YOU(r advice)!
I am thinking of jumping on the jones bandwagon, which seems to be gathering relentless pace...current team...

    vorm/westwood
    enrique/vermaelen/raylor/naylor
    silva/vdv/nani/bale/dyer
    rvp/yak/ba

    options:
    1. raylor+vdv >> jones+?walcott(9.2 available)
    2. vermaelen >> jones (straight swap...?vermaelen less effective in left back?)
    3. do nothing and let the bandwagon pass (jones price increasing by the day...)

      Raylor > Jones

      VdV > Walters/Larsson?

I'd let pass. I still think he is a rotation risk, and without Vidic clean sheet potential goes down as well

In a wee quandary. Have 3 Swans and 3 Newc players and RVP and Kompany.

I've decided to bet it all on the Toon, playing Ba, Simpson and Krul benching Vorm, Allen and Naylor.

I'm thinking of doing Kompany => J Evans in order to free up cash to upgrade Sess to Bale.

I've already taken a -4 hit doing 3 transfers this week.

    My question to the wise:

    A. Do the Kompany => Evans transfer this week and play Evans taking an extra -4 hit
    B. Keep Kompany and play him against RVP
    C. Keep Kompany but bench him and play McAuley (bla)

He remained United's most dangerous midfielder during their low-scoring spell. Did manage a couple of 6-7 pointers amongst the 2s. So his fantasy form has been poor rising to great this week, and his real form has been average rising to great this week. I sold him two weeks ago just before things got better, I should know.

Dilemma this week is where to put the (c) ...

    Ade
    Ba
    Mata
    Nani

    Are my candidates ...

Leaning Ade ATM. Purely because he's a home boy and (hopefully) on pens vs a poor Sunderland team.

Ba close second but Vorm may play a blinder.

Mata could be rested ( I hear?)

Nani - can lightening strike twice in a week? I think QPRat home will be tougher to break down than Wolves at OT.

    Thoughts? And why?

there is a good argument for VP... he is on fire and Arsenal are on form

To anyone considering Baines for DGW, CTC have him at -90%, so there's a high likelihood he'll fall either tonight or tomorrow night, whilst Nani, Ade and Larsson will all rise, just something for you to consider.

Oh my word - there's even a video of Bendtner begging for pizza!

Apparently one of the guys asks another bloke "Would you pay for his pizza?" and the bloke replies: "No, I'm a Man Utd fan..."

Sorry for repost, but could really do with advice...

    Team for this week:

    Krul
    Wilkinson,Taylor, Vermaelen
    Bale, Walters, Nani, Silva
    Adebayor(c), Yakubu, Van Persie

    Vorm McAuley Eagles Brown

I know the defence is a mess with every player away from home (not sure how i let that happen) but bugger all i can do about it now. FT done for this week, but is above line-up the best I can muster with the what i’ve got to work with

I think given his form and the opponents the Wigan fixture could produce Mata's best score of the year. With that in mind I'm desperate to get him in, hit or not, as the bonus points could well pay off most of the hit anyway.

    Is
    Jones > Evans
    Eagles > Gower/Moses
    Ramsey > Mata
    4 point hit
    worth it?

no set of transfers that involves Jones out for Evans is worth it.

Now I understand you don't rate Evans but let's not get completely carried away there 😉

It's not just that I don't rate Evans I just don't see that he's a better prospect FPL wise than Jones, for me it's madness to take Jones, he's a near to nailed on as one can be at United, and if he continues to play OOP the opportunities for points are huge, he could have had a goal and 2 assists v Wolves.

I brought Jones in for all those reasons and he certainly delivered with the goal v Aston Villa. But that was back then when United were in their low-scoring spell, had Vidic, and were keeping CS. United are now attacking and look less likely to keep CS. Hence I reckon his attacking points will suffer as he (should) play behind Nani, Valencia, Rooney and Welbeck or whoever. And his defending points will suffer as they attack without Vidic. Clearly he did pretty well in the Wolves game but if you look at his attacking points all season (1 goal and 2 assists) and with so many attacking options available now, 6.4 looks expensive.

Therefore I reckon 6.4 without likely CS or attacking points is overpriced and I might as well drop to a 4.4.

Thinking about it, his big scores are at home and his upcoming home fixtures are awful.

aside from a United team which was playing in a shell he hasn't faced any of the big boys at home yet.

Yeah I looked at his home fixtures and they're pretty crap, Swansea have done it away though before - they got a CS at Anfield of all places. Wouldn't transfer him out until both home and away form suffers.
