Gameweek 7 comes to its conclusion as Burnley welcome Arsenal to Turf Moor.

The Gunners roll up on the back of four straight league wins, with Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott both in fine recent form.

The Chilean teed up Walcott’s pair of strikes in the midweek Champions League win over FC Basel and with three double-figure hauls in four, carries the armband hopes of many at Turf Moor.

Walcott has now notched five times in seven across all competitions and has risen to 6% ownership in Fantasy Premier League.

Another big performance today would surely kick start a bandwagon over the international break, yet Arsene Wenger’s side face an obstinate Clarets rearguard that has conceded just five goals in the previous 17 league matches in front of their own supporters.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

You'll soon regret the lack of flexibility. Any bad midfield game and you're hitting up a four in defence, which simply doesn't work this year. Also v hard to revert back to a 3 up top without a further hit

I guess most people here play against their friends/colleagues in their ML.
How's it going so far? Are you leading or are you constantly trying to catch up?

My colleague (and biggest rival) is currently 1st in our ML. He has won EVERY season since I've joined FPL (currently my 4th season).
No matter what I do, no matter which player I bring in, he ALWAYS beats me. Last season I was 4 points (!!!) from beating him. Imagine the frustration when GW38 was over and I had Sanchez (C) and brought in Tadic instead of Mané...

This season, everything he does turns to gold. First 2 GWs, he didn't even log on to fix his team, and yet he outscored everyone in our ML. He doesn't have any knowledge about the price changes, he just pick a player that he can afford and takes out the one he doesn't want anymore.
Just this GW, he did Sterling -> Walcott and put (C) on Costa!
At this rate, I might just give up our ML and start looking at FPL 2017/18.

Anyone else got a story like this?

Maybe he goes form over stats. Form is key

I had one like that but I battered him last season and am 66 in front this season. Your time will come just keep doing the right thing.

I started working out his transfers from his tv too. Ever since then I've overtaken him

          • 16 Years

Don't get me wrong mate I don't spend hours. All I do is take a screenshot of his tv and number of transfers start of weeks then check the change in his money in bank on Friday. Simple math gives me the answer. It's really a 5 min job if that

      2. Wurstmuncher
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

But how do you predict form and not end up just chasing points? Surely that's where stats come in because they help identify those about to hit form beforehand...

        1. Pumpkinhead - I'm ITK …
          • 16 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

Simple. You watch the games and look to see what players do. Stats can be very misleading although they are helpful. I been playing 10 years and i do use stats but nothing beats actually watching players play. Depends if you get chance or not really

          1. Wurstmuncher
            • 11 Years
            9 years, 3 months ago

Good point, I find it really hard to get time at weekend to sit and watch more than the odd game, probably over reliant on stats therefore...

Understand mate. I'm. Very lucky to be able to watch many games I have no kids and a gf who is understanding with my football addiction . Not always easy and stats therefore are the best route.

I know of a lad in the top 10 hall of fame and he only uses stats if he can't decide between two players

I fancy a hit potentially minus 8 as had a stormer this week in all my mini leagues (62 points) so feel getting my house in order for these nice fixtures coming up could be a good move.

What transfers do you see in this mob:

    Heaton / Pickford
    Kos / Valencia / Williams / Amat / Kingsley
    Sterling / Ozil / Antonio / Firmino / Capoue
    Aguero / Rash / Lukaku

Anyone notice Walcott was given the assist and not the Ox?

Bell def the better choice than Kosc in terms of points potential but i think that Kosc + 0.5 will score more... imo

    Heaton - Pickford
    Baines - Lovren - JEvans - Holebas - Amat
    Sanchez - Sterling - Firmino - Antonio - Capoue
    Aguero - Lukaku - Deeney

    thoughts on those moves:

    A. Lovren & Antonio ➡ Smith & Son
    B. Lovren & JEvans ➡ Smith & Robertson
    C. Lovren & Antonio ➡ Pieters & Walcott

2 FTs: Januzaj and Ibra change tonight to:

    A) Son and Deeney
    B) Walcott and Benteke
    C) Sterling and Austin
    D) Mane and Defoe
    E) Any other combo - Budget not an issue except Sanchez 🙁
    F) Wait and loose Son price rise tonight?

    Qs:
    1) Is Son must have now? Does he have international come back issues? I wanna capture his price rise tonight
    2) Should i take a 0.4 loss on hazard who costed me 10.3! I think should wait on hazard till intl break given the problems in my team...

    Pickford (Foster)
Baines, Mc Auley, Valencia (Collins, Amat)
    Chadli, Hazard, Antonio, Capoue (Januzaj)
    Aguero, Ibrahim, Lukaku

    0.1 m in bank. 2 FT left!

It's a total and utter guess.

Son gets the vote for me because it's an interest in both the Spurs and Arsenal attacks (I have Sanchez)

Wally is a little more likely to play after the break due to no long haul travel.

    Bottomed
    Rashford + Capoue > diomande + wally?
    I'm defo going 3-5-2
Means no Sanchez and keeping Valencia/payet

Dont know why some people saying Antonio --> Son is knee jerky

Antonio output is on decline while Son is on the up. Spurs in 2nd place while westham in relegation zone.

Ofcourse Antonio has done well in opening weeks but think its time to move on (same logic applies if you getting Theo)
