With over 73,000 transfers out since Friday evening’s deadline, the Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.5) fire sale is gaining momentum.

From Gameweek 1-4, the Manchester United frontman blazed a trail and found the net on four occasions as Fantasy Premier League managers clambered on board the bandwagon.

In the past three league matches, which coincides with Marcus Rashford’s (6.9) return to the first XI, he has garnered just one assist.

As Jose Mourinho begins to solve the puzzle of how to integrate all the attacking talent at his disposal, Zlatan’s role appears to be changing. He’s becoming more of a front man around which the pace of Rashford and Jesse Lingard (5.7), the guile of Juan Mata (7.4) and the surges of Paul Pogba (8.3) can thrive.

All well and good, but do you really want to have 11.5 tied up in someone taking it for the team?

Let’s get one thing straight. Parting company with a player still owned by over 51% of FPL managers is by no means an easy call to make.

Over the last three Gameweeks, he is the top-ranked forward for attempts on goal (16), shots inside the box (12) and efforts on target (seven).

Those are hardly the statistics associated with an out-of-sorts striker.

Yet with back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea up next, it’s no real surprise to see so many looking for alternatives up front.

Costing 11.9 as recently as Gameweek 5, his price dropped 0.4 in two rounds of fixtures. With an international break now upon us, Ibrahimovic could feasibly be sitting at 11.2 by the time United make their way to Anfield a fortnight this evening.

Recent weeks have seen the veteran drop to fifth in the forward standings, with Diego Costa (10.0) and Romelu Lukaku (9.4) moving into the top two slots.

The former has scored or assisted in six of his seven appearances under Antonio Conte and Lukaku has bagged five goals and an assist in five starts for Ronald Koeman.

Despite missing two matches through suspension, Aguero also sits above the Swede – the Argentine is also the top forward for points per match, with an average of 7.8 some way ahead of Ibra’s 5.3.

With so many appealing mid-price picks in the centre of the park, Ibrahimovic’s budget would go a long way to help strengthen our options.

Swapping him out for Lukaku, for example, would more or less free up the budget to draft in Tottenham’s in-form Heung-Min Son (7.6) for Etienne Capoue (5.2) as a fourth midfielder.

In a weekend where we saw the likes of Alexis Sanchez (11.2), Roberto Firmino (8.4), Michail Antonio (7.3) and the aforementioned Son all lead the line for their respective clubs, there’s plenty of out of position potential to target.

Yes, Ibrahimovic still leads the way in total attempts, shots in the box and attempts on target after seven Gameweeks.

For many, that will be more than enough to hold in spite of the inevitable price drop.

The underlying numbers clearly suggest Zlatan could very well burn any sellers.

Yet bearing in mind that 11 midfielders have bettered Ibrahimovic’s tally of 37 points already, parting company while his stock plummets and cannily reinvesting the cash elsewhere doesn’t seem such a radical idea.

hilarious, the love for zlatan is at times ridiculous here. I get he is a united player and they have big support but the amount of posts I saw friday/saturday night with the "dare to zlatan" slogan were embarassing.

    anyone tempted by danny rose?
a slight price drop during the injury, 2 decent fixtures up next and part of a spurs defence yet to concede in open play this season despite already playing liverpool and man city

Tempted but I think I'm going Vertonghen just so I can get an Arsenal defender in there too. Isn't Walker the same price? I'd probably go Walker between the 2.

walker is, probably has a better injury record too, and slightly less reckless with the cards. but imo rose is the bigger attacking threat

WC activated last night hows it looking? Cheap GKs but Arsenal & Spurs defence looks good, feel the need to squeeze them in somehow. Stoke fixture don’t look too bad and Foster not doing anything special.

    Grant | Pickford

    Vertonghen | Koscielny | Morgan | Amat | Nyom

    Sterling | Sánchez | Son | Lallana | Capoue

    Costa | Agüero | Deeney

Capoue > Fletcher will give me a Spare 0.4m

Great team. But i'd go with Cech instead of Kosc for Arsenal cover. Cech is 1.1 cheaper.

I think Cech perfectly combined with Pickford for at least 5 next GWs (SWA, MID, sun, bou, HUL).

    A) Deeney (mid,swa,HUL,liv)
    B) Defoe (sto,whm,ARS,bou)
    C) CWilson (HUL,TOT,mid,SUN)

All three on pens too so it's a very tough call.

Points are better than stats and Sanchez will gradually start pulling away from Walcott with hauls IMO. Walcott can be dropped at any time as well which you can't say the same for Sanchez. I don't buy this Walcott is on fire so wont be dropped line of thought. Wenger has been known to be a bit nuts when it comes to Walcott.

My defence is garbage this week and used my FT. Really dont want to play AOA for Capoue. Play:

        1) McAuley
        2) Williams
        3) Amat

Have attackers from all the teams they play. Currently playing 1 for goal threat.

Williams has City away, Amat Arsenal away, McAuley Spurs at home. That is why I went 1 tbh.

McAuley, if you must, but isn't AOA exactly for this kind of situation? AOA is a crap chip and Capoue at M'brough is not a bad bet. It wouldn't be advisable to destroy your squad structure just to have 8 good attacking players to play with AOA one GW. If you do that, at least keep 2FT in pocket for rearranging your team after it.

          Baines – Lovren – Holebas – JEvans – Amat
          Sanchez – Sterling – Firmino – Antonio – Capoue
          Aguero – Lukaku – Deeney

          2 FTs
          0.0 itb

I feel like I need to fix my defence a bit, although it is a lottery this year as not many teams offering CS’s potential.
On the other hand, Antonio is letting me down a bit since I got him on WC GW6. Good fixtures coming up though.
And I am feeling tempted by Walcott or Son in Antonio’s place.

Interesting. It's basically a call between:

                -Deeney/Defoe + Lallana
                vs
                -CWilson + Coutinho

as I will be getting rid of Redmond to double up on the Pool mids next week.

          Shaw > BOU def
          Antonio > Firmino

          Worth a 4pt hit?

          Bottomed

Morning all, so in a bit of a pickle for next GW, luckily have a week to think about it and hoping for some valuable input from you guys to get the ball rolling.

I'm not really liking Baines, Kingsley and Valencia but guess they can wait as more importantly I'm wanting some Son love and to get rid of Puncheon but will need to free up some funds. Is it time to say goodbye to Lukaku/Costa both have fairly difficult fixtures and Costa near a ban.

          Any suggestions appreciated, cheers all.

          Foster - Heston

          Baines - Amat - Valencia - Bellerin - Kingsley

          Walcott - Firmino - Antonio - Puncheon - Capone

          Costa - Lukaku - Aguero

            Ibra to Kun is good,
Not sure Shaw to Stones is an improvement,
Antonio may still give you some value playing out of position.

I think man city will keep clean sheets. And I'm only wanting to do it cos shaw won't be playing I gathered?

And is Antonio still playing Rw? I heard he'd been moved back to RB or something.

            I'm looking at something similar

Shaw, Antonio and Ibra to Smith, Firmino and Aguero

Would you be able to avoid the hit if you did Shaw and Ibra to Smith and Aguero this GW, and Antonio to Firmino for free the following week ?

              Ah ok cool.

Yes I would. Thanks for the idea. One thing making me want to get Firmino is because he has a Monday night game vs United, and I will otherwise I have no players in that game, but that's slightly short-sighted thinking on my behalf.

I'm taking that risk, his fixtures after than game are what i'm getting him in for.

Is an ARS def worth a hit given their 3 upcoming fixtures? Thinking of swapping for Valencia who has 2 horrible fixtures.

Really don't know what to do. Help would be much appreciated.

          (A) Ibrahimovic/Chadli --> 6.7m/Sanchez (6.7m = Rondon/Negredo/Wilson)

          (B) Ibrahimovic/Antonio --> 7.5m/Sanchez (7.5m = Deeney/Rashford/Defoe)

          Alternative,

-4 and ship Capoue for funds and do

          (C) Ibrahimovic/Chadli/Capoue --> Deeney/Sanchez/Ledley

Ibra has been horrible value, I know...but is anyone else keeping him? If you already have Aguero and Sanchez I don't see the point in selling him really. Our back-lines don't warrant much investment at the moment, aside from maybe Arsenal and Spurs defenders (but Watford, Leicester, Hull may do). And whilst we can always improve on the likes of Snodgrass and Capoue, aren't they good enough? Or am I just hanging on to too many budget picks?

Ibra against a ragged Liverpool defence will be an interesting watch. I have a feeling he will grab a few in that game. Albeit I thought he would against Stoke

Yes exactly, I'm pretty disappointed in him. And Rashford offers a cheaper way in. But I'm thinking I may as well just keep him at the moment.

I like to break the season down into blocks of 2/3 gameweeks at a time. Ibra's next 2 fixtures really don't appeal to me. You could say goodbye to him, but it doesn't have to be forever. You'd be able to dodge the price drop. Upgrade a cheapie mid to Son/Walcott and downgrade Ibra to Defoe/Deeney/anyone else u fancy in the next 2 fixtures. I think that would bring you more points short term.

Backlines don't warrant investment as you say, which means having more time to play around with your front 8 using ur free transfers.

Good points, and I may be missing a trick having let Theo & Son rise last night. I already have Deeney but Lukaku could've filled the void.

Feel I need a decent heavy hitter for this woeful defence -

0.9 short of getting Rose/Monreal. Where can I save this?

          Lovren. Amat. Holebas. Evans
          Theo. Alexis. Capoue. Sterling. Firmino
          Deeney. Aguero. Lukaku

Hey guys, I'm wondering if changing from 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 is a good idea?? I'm thinking of transferring Austin and Capoue -> Stuani and Snoddy next GW. I think that there are much more options in the mids and that it is safe to play Snoddy for the next 8 GW's or so. Thoughts??

Looks like a decent team to be honest. Maybe Evans to Francis? Or save and use 2 ft next week to upgrade defence
