With over 73,000 transfers out since Friday evening’s deadline, the Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.5) fire sale is gaining momentum.

From Gameweek 1-4, the Manchester United frontman blazed a trail and found the net on four occasions as Fantasy Premier League managers clambered on board the bandwagon.

In the past three league matches, which coincides with Marcus Rashford’s (6.9) return to the first XI, he has garnered just one assist.

As Jose Mourinho begins to solve the puzzle of how to integrate all the attacking talent at his disposal, Zlatan’s role appears to be changing. He’s becoming more of a front man around which the pace of Rashford and Jesse Lingard (5.7), the guile of Juan Mata (7.4) and the surges of Paul Pogba (8.3) can thrive.

All well and good, but do you really want to have 11.5 tied up in someone taking it for the team?

Let’s get one thing straight. Parting company with a player still owned by over 51% of FPL managers is by no means an easy call to make.

Over the last three Gameweeks, he is the top-ranked forward for attempts on goal (16), shots inside the box (12) and efforts on target (seven).

Those are hardly the statistics associated with an out-of-sorts striker.

Yet with back-to-back trips to Liverpool and Chelsea up next, it’s no real surprise to see so many looking for alternatives up front.

Costing 11.9 as recently as Gameweek 5, his price dropped 0.4 in two rounds of fixtures. With an international break now upon us, Ibrahimovic could feasibly be sitting at 11.2 by the time United make their way to Anfield a fortnight this evening.

Recent weeks have seen the veteran drop to fifth in the forward standings, with Diego Costa (10.0) and Romelu Lukaku (9.4) moving into the top two slots.

The former has scored or assisted in six of his seven appearances under Antonio Conte and Lukaku has bagged five goals and an assist in five starts for Ronald Koeman.

Despite missing two matches through suspension, Aguero also sits above the Swede – the Argentine is also the top forward for points per match, with an average of 7.8 some way ahead of Ibra’s 5.3.

With so many appealing mid-price picks in the centre of the park, Ibrahimovic’s budget would go a long way to help strengthen our options.

Swapping him out for Lukaku, for example, would more or less free up the budget to draft in Tottenham’s in-form Heung-Min Son (7.6) for Etienne Capoue (5.2) as a fourth midfielder.

In a weekend where we saw the likes of Alexis Sanchez (11.2), Roberto Firmino (8.4), Michail Antonio (7.3) and the aforementioned Son all lead the line for their respective clubs, there’s plenty of out of position potential to target.

Yes, Ibrahimovic still leads the way in total attempts, shots in the box and attempts on target after seven Gameweeks.

For many, that will be more than enough to hold in spite of the inevitable price drop.

The underlying numbers clearly suggest Zlatan could very well burn any sellers.

Yet bearing in mind that 11 midfielders have bettered Ibrahimovic’s tally of 37 points already, parting company while his stock plummets and cannily reinvesting the cash elsewhere doesn’t seem such a radical idea.

    For a -8:

Valencia, Williams, Lallana, Lukaku > Koscielny, Vertonghen, Firmino, Deeney

    Y/N?
    ---

    Current team:

    Pickford | (Foster)

    McAuley | Collins | Valenca | (Williams) | (Amat)

    Sanchez | Antonio | Sterling | Capoue | Lallana

    Lukaku | Aguero | (Tekkers)

Lukaku could be one to hold for season
I'd have llana, when back fit, over firmino

      No.
Valencia + Williams -> Kosc + Vert seems good if you can do it without freeing cash. I would prefer Lukaku + Lallana over Deeney + Firmino if Lallana injury is not serious.

    Hi all,
Please vote for 1 of the following - trying to hold my wild card and I have 2 FT:

    A. Hazard and Shaw -> Sanchez and 4.2 def (most likely bench fodder I have Amat already) Maybe love and bank the 0.2? Please suggest a defender

    B. Hazard, Shaw and Redmond to Sanchez, 4.4 def (please suggest) and Snodgrass -4 (Not overly keen to -4)

    My team is
    Foster - Jaku
    Baines - SHAW - Friend - Amat - Stones
    Firmino - HAZARD - Capoue - Redmond - Marney
    Aguero - Zlatan - Lukaku

    Thanks

Consider wild carding. Foster has difficult fixtures, you can make money on him now. Jaku not playing, Baines, Shaw not playing, Zlatan and Hazard money could get Sanchez and upgrade Marney and Redmond to decent mids.

Cheers thanks for the advice. My problem is I really like my front 3 so wild carding without losing 1 of them is just shifting the minnows really. Not sure if im ready for that yet :/

I would use WC, midfield and defence too weak. Lots of out of form players like Ibra, Hazard, Redmond, Stones, Friend and some non-playing ones like Shaw, Baines, Jaku

WC. I reckon if you have 4 or more required transfers it's worth it, even if not strikers. I'd happily lose Baines, Shaw, Friend, Hazard, Redmond and Capoue from that. Enough cash in those to make a significant difference to your scores. (imo)

    Please take a moment here.

I had this and 2 FTs:

    GK: Heaton & Pickford

DF: Valencia, Williams, Evans, Love, Collins

MF: Ozil, Firmino, Sterling, Capoue, Antonio

    FW: Aguero, Lukaku, Benteke

I did this for -8 hit:

    Evans + Love + Collins + Sterling --> Snodgrass + Koscielny + Walker + Holebas

    What do you guys think?

So that means you have valencia, williams, koscielney, walker, holebas
Too defensive heavy for my taste, considering the lack of returns in that area.
Plus fund are tied up, so it would be difficult to if Sanchez/Haz/Costa/ibra explode

Hello guys. What would you do with this lot:

    Foster
    Walker, Pieters, Valencia
    Sterling, Mane, Sanchez, Redmond
    Aguero, Lukaku, Rondon

Subs: Heaton --- Capoue, Evans, Amat --- 2 FT, 0.3 ITB

    A) Valencia & Rondon -> Koscielny & Austin
    B) Foster & Rondon -> Pickford & Deeney
    C) Valencia, Mane & Rondon -> Koscielny, Coutinho & Deeney (-4)

Very close for me but prob C. But I also think A. could be good to give Mane a bit more time to prove how explosive he can be (and if Austin keeps his place he will score).

A with Wilson if you can afford extra 0,1. With Austin, you will double up on SOU and their fixture is not that good.

Cheers man, but a have a lot of funds tied up in Ibra and need to ship out Puncheon (and probably Capoue and Cazorla also) as my midfield's very weak.
I have a decent OR (top 5k) so a -8 might work out ok in the long term?

So you have 2 FT? Then wait on Baines, he may be fit in a couple of games and just do Ibr > Deeney and Puncheon to Firm. Protect your ranking by not throwing away points. IMO. I just hate taking point hits then watching my new signings blank.

I'd wanna keep Lukaku. X and Y are both good options imo.

Is Wilson being overshadowed by Deeney? With those fixtures and that price, isn't he a great pick, as he's also on penalties?

Bournemouth slowly hitting some form too.. their run of fixtures ie HULL mid SUN stk makes him a really good option if you need the 0.6 spare cash.

Looking at upgrades, which combo do you prefer to play each week for the next month:
    A) Antonio and Theo
    B) Sanchez and Capoue

Midfield of Mane/Firmino/Antonio/Capoue/Fletcher. With 4.5 ITB. Don't fancy losing the Liverpool mids so got to be Antonio unfortunately. Thanks

New in - one defender, one mid and one striker:

    Baines >
    A) A Smith
    B) Pieters/Cameron
    C) Robertson

    Antonio > (no spurs/arsenal yet)
    1) Son
    2) Walcott

    Rashford >
    $ Defoe
    % Deeney
    £ Wilson
    € Austin

How does this look? Too light up front? Deeney & Wilson with decent fixtures tho.

    Foster - Jak
    Vert - Kos - Williams - Holebas - Amat
    Sanchez - Sterling - Mane - Son - Capoue
    Kun - Deeney - Wilson

A bit too light strikerforce and a bit too heavy in defence.

Not tempted by Lukaku instead of Deeney/Wilson?

I like it, defenders saved my week this time so I wouldnt make fun of expensive defenders (Kos 15 points hi five )

That was just down to luck, overall defenders have been useless. Not saying Kos is a bad option though, Arsenal and Spurs the only teams I would like to invest some money in regarding defence

Defo A. But to be honest. I'm avoiding West Ham at the moment. improved a little last game but in general have looked dire.

You should lose Antonio for either Walcott or Son, not Payet.

Yeah, but watched him and Antonio really struggle to get any of the ball or even out of their own half due to weakness elsewhere in the team. I could well be proved wrong, but I'm going with Wally for at least these coming fixtures.

double up is best route, Arsenal like to destroy teams at home and are zippy on the counter away with Iwobi/ Walcott/ Alexis

Thoughts on this squad? 1m ITB, no FT's left, nothing too pressing I think?

    Foster / Pickford
    Baines / McAuley / Kosc / Amat / Love
    Sanchez / Antonio / Firmino / Snod / Capoue
    Aguero / Costa / Defoe

Time to say goodbye to Baines or are you holding?
Looking at some cheap options with good fixtures
Have Kos Walker Lovren Amat also so money-wise it would be wise to save some cash since enough premium defenders already...
    A) Stoke - Pieters, fixtures good, can the get some cs next few weeks?
    B) Bournmouth - Francis or Smith - Occasional cs, better than Stoke?
    C) Hull - Robertson, well everyone scores against them
    D) Sunderland - Kone og stretch to PVA double up with Pickford but then not cheap categoryany more
    E) Watford - Holebas, attacking
    F) Just hold on to Baines

      B. Just done Baines to Smith this minute, watched their last couple of games and they look very solid with Smith very attacking also! (I also have Holebas, who's looking quite good apart from the yc)

I'd go with Smith ahead those other defenders too. Although I'm keeping hold of Baines but contemplating switching Shaw for Glen Johnson... Can't decide if that means I have gone mental or not.

Would having Koscielny and say Walker or Rose in my defence be too much?

I can afford this back line but wondering whether I should use my additional funds to bring in Sterling instead at some point by downgrading Benteke > Austin after this week.

    Current team:

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Baines Lovren Evans (Amat) (Wilson)
    Sanchez Firmino Son Snodgrass (Capoue)
    Aguero Lukaku Benteke
