The third round of the Paddy Power Cup V saw 256 fantasy managers go head-to-head over the course of Gameweek 15. The results of which are in, and can be viewed right here. Read on for a round-up of how some of the ties of note played out…

Another round and another former champ exits the competition. This time it’s FFS Cup II winner, Jonty, who has been eliminated after a crushing 68 – 59 defeat at the hands of 66irons. That leaves Ninja_fit_saints alone in the hunt to achieve the unprecedented – a second tournament win.

Chief Scout Mark also casts a lonely figure as the only remaining contributor; he powers on into the fourth round after a 70 – 41 demolition of domo. Intimidating stuff.

This week’s top-scorer was Cabaroota Beach queens, who tonked rakkhi 93 – 67. In the fourth round, he’ll be hoping to avoid the same fate that met the two previous top-scorers, both of which were knocked out the very next round. Round two top-scorer, elfortu, was battered 84 – 49 by a rampant EasyLuckyFree.

Also bowing out this week is bobbyg who, even now, is the highest ranked fantasy manager involved in the third round. He lost a nail-biter 63 – 62 to Lestat, but only slips two places overall to 52nd in the world.

Having wiped the floor 82 – 66 with theotherguy, hootneil now stands as the highest ranked competitor, only two behind bobbyg in 54th.

Four matches ended level, which meant that overall ranking had to be looked at to find a winner. Their previous 14 week’s work put Brosna Stars, evertonalstars, The Yassasinators and MaRkEsTuTe through at the expense of meltedman, evers, rocket science and jils respectively.

Congratulations to the 128 in the hat for the fourth round (the draw for which will be made on Thursday), and commiserations to everyone else.

Sess -> Cahill looks fabulous to me. I'm confused about VDV myself, so not sure on that one.

Not convinced by Baines. I've got him, but I don't fancy a clean sheet against Norwich if I'm honest.

I know, but if you think of him as a mf that takes peno's and setpieces(I know I know...) that might sneak a CS as a bonus then surely he is a better option at 700k cheaper then TC?

Especially since NOR have not kept a single CS all season!

Hmm, didn't think Cahill was that high in price. Ahhhh, I don't know. VDV is messing with my mind and has confused me completely.

Plus Cahill then fills a mf slot that could be used for lennon/valencia...

Think I've made up my mind. Going to let the Nani express pass me by.

I'm going to bed with Baines.

I'm sure he is going to break my heart. Again.

                😥

No mention of hybrid.power's heartbreakingly unjust exit from the tournament due to the lack of bonus points awarded to Sturridge and Vorm! 1 point the difference in the end....Sigh...

    Thoughts on this:

Defense: Verm, Jones, Williams, Brown, De Laet

    1FT no cash

    Brown-->Simpson

    or

    Brown-->Evans

Right, i'm new to this site... I think a serious debate is due about the dutchman VDV!

    my team:
    Vorm, Krul
N Taylor, Bardsley, Enrique, Simpson, Bosingwa
    Silva, VDV, Bale, Pilkington, Dyer
    Yakubu, Adebayor, RVP

Not doin too well, 0.1 in bank, 1FT. Don't want to take a hit. I have faith in VDV. I think if he gets given another chance after his stoke performance then he'll do well. But should i get rid for nani? Or should i sit it out? Or any other advise is very welcome!

Keep VDV this GW. He's at home to Sunderland who will concede a few down there - can't see Man Utd running riot at QPR or Fulham but that's probably an unpopular opinion round these parts.

    1.8 in the bank.

    Thinking of
Drenthe - > Moses to free funds, and an active player
Murphy -> Bale (More attacking & DGW)
Van der vaart -> Nani ( Good fixtures and more game time maybe )

To create this team with an 8pt hit.

    Al-Habsi, Vorm
    Jones, Ward, Shawcross, Vermaelen, Simpson
Bale, Silva, Eagles, Moses, Van der Vaart
    Adebayor, Van Persie, Sturridge

Is it worth an 8pt hit?

funny same big hitters as my team (check link), i think u mean nani instead of vdv
go for it i say, for once an 8pt hit makes sense however dnt be dissapointed if it dsnt pay back this week, it will do over the next couple ones

        Corrected. - Thanks BIG OAK

        Al-Habsi, Vorm
        Jones, Ward, Shawcross, Vermaelen, Simpson
        Bale, Silva, Eagles, Moses, Nani
        Adebayor, Van Persie, Sturridge

Thanks, reading other posts, there is a suggestion to delay the Nani move by a week.

Seen your team 2 pts ahead - haha - Gonna have to get a differential to stay ahead

5 straight green arrows and I climbed from 944,990 in GW 10 to 257,955 in GW 15 and clawed back about 80 pts in most of my leagues...The difference maker RVP (C) 😀

My awesome strategy for the past few weeks has been to bank a double freebie transfer, then only use 1 of the 2 free transfers each week until it is absolutely necessary. My 1 transfer has usually been to swap for the best 5-6m defender each week. Got rid of Kompany a week too soon, Santos was a waste, but Walker's doing alright so far. Twisted on a Shorey to Evans this week, just for larks...

    1. What is the first GW that YAYA missed due to African cup?

    2. Thinking Bendy + VDV -> Yaya + Rooney.

    3. Two prices drops means I can now only jsut do it. Is there a better alternative to Yaya for 7.6m?

Would appreciate it lots if someone could RMT. I’m thinking now is the time I need to bring some United coverage into my team. Drenthe and Wilkinson are both injured, so maybe it’s wise to sacrifice one of the, or both? Or should I sacrifice someone else?

My team at the moment is:

    Vorm, Krul
    Wilkinson, Ward, Enrique, Simpson, Brown
    VDV, Ramsey, Silva, Walters, Drenthe
    Ba, RVP, Adebayor

I have one free transfer and 1.1 in the bank. Thank you in advance for any replies.
