The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

This upcoming weekend sees the Paddy Power Cup V enter a manic three-week period, where 128 fantasy managers will be whittled down to a final eight entering the New Year. That’s a long way away though, and those still in the competition will be eager just to see this week’s fixtures – which can be viewed right here

Our last-remaining former-champ, Ninja_fit_saints, will have to overcome a huge gulf in class if he is to avoid going the way of his fellow past winners. His opponent, Mayhey Kid, has over 100 points more than Ninja_fit_saints and will go into the tie as heavy favourite.

Also fancying his chances this week will be Mark, who stands over 50 points ahead of his fourth round competition, Hassyg.

Last week’s top-scorer Cabaroota Beach queens has drawn s4petah, and will be confident on building on his third round momentum and progressing at s4petah’s expense.

If you’re looking for a ‘glamour-tie’ of the round, then EasyLuckyFree versus Der-Hammer95 is surely a contender. Two recognisable names going head-to-head for a place in the last 64.

With just one ‘off-day’ between Gameweek 16 and 17, I’ll endeavour to bring you both the fourth round results and the fifth round fixtures on Monday, but be warned(!)… you may not have much time to scout your opponent should you be fortunate enough to make it through this week. Good luck.

I want to sell Brown for Ivanovich to have extra funds in the bank, but I have enough to do Wilkinson > Ivanovich. Which option makes more sense to do? I also have Westwood.

Lot of talk about Drenthe here today, always knew it was a risk, but now starting to get really nervous.
I did Howard and Drenthe out, 3,9 keeper + Nani in before price rises, because I got really obsessed for the idea that I'll definetely need Nani for upcoming fixtures!

Now my midfield is Nani, Silva, Vdv, Bale, Dyer and there's no way I can take Drenthe there anymore.
    Forward Rvp, Ade, Baaaa.
    Am I uber idiot??

    btw, playing Vorm until wc..

I generally dislike going for expensive defenders given that I rarely field more than three at a time. However, when FFScout argued that Baines was essentially a reasonably high scoring winger, with the added bonus of occasional clean sheets, that sold it to me.

But you can only get him by dropping one of your good midfielders.... or reducing Ade to Sturridge(?).

Looking at Evans. 4.4 is a tempting offer, especially with Vidic out, and the fixtures. Does anyone have updates on Rafael and Fabio? Doesnt seem like their injuries are serious. With one or both of them back, Evans does not seem that interesting.

Glad I can be patient this GW, my transfer might make itself depending on the news over the coming days! 🙂

Drenthe should get the nod infront of Bilyaletdinov and/or Coleman imo. He's been far more productive. Drenthe stated on his twitter he is injury free and ready for the weekend. But, Everton's midfield is hard to predict atm..

      Thanks for the replies peoople

Drenthe / Rodwell / Walters will be first sub over the xmas period - I simply cannot see all the big guns in my team playing every GW in such a short space of time, so I wish to spread-bet, as it were.

Everton's fixtures are great if they attack. Replacing Walters is not essential, but I'd prefer to have a bit mmore cash in the back to avoid having to make 2 transfers to replace someone (not that making two transfers has been an issue for me so far this season.)

As for Evans vs Simpson, that's if Collo is back in NEW defence. If it's the same ramshackle outfit that took the field last week, then yep, I will go for Evans

Bale or Ade face struggling Sunderland and could get a brace

This is for Schwarzer and Vorm owners!

Having had a look at keeper rotation with Vorm, I've decided that it's worth paying a little bit extra until I will wilcard (before either GW 22 or 23). I narrowed it down to Howard and Friedel - and because I will probably want 3 Spurs attacking players in the DGW, it's Howard for me, plus he's 0.1 cheaper. This would give fixtures of (HOME / away) -

    16 NOR (Howard)
    17 SWA (Howard)
    18 QPR (Vorm)
19 TOT (Vorm) or wba (Howard)
    20 BOL, tot (Howard)
    21 villa (Howard)
    22 BLA (Howard)

Friedel would give two home DGW games and a home match v WOL in GW 21, but CHE in 17 and mci in 22 - so pretty much evens out, but like I say, I want the option of the holy trinity in GW 20.

So my question to you is: should I play Vorm at Newcastle away this week, or take a four point hit to get in Howard? Bearing in mind I AM getting United coverage next week - so it's a 4 point hit this week or next.

I have Vorm and Howard. Obviously I have Howard for this week. Swansea's away form is terrible. I would expect Newcastle to at least bag a couple of goals.

      So, imo, take the hit.

don;t take a hit on a goalkeeper. No good comes of that. If you want Howard wait until you have two FT or save money and get him for the double. Everton have good fixtures, but are not a clean sheet machine. Howard for the double sounds like a good plan actually. Doubles are when a gk really shines, but you are still only talking a few extra pts.

In conclusion - No...I'm just playing Vorm regardless - the guy is immense. I'm a Vorm/Ruddy owner btw.

But Swansea are poor on the road. Have you seen their fixtures aswell?

        Gameweek 16 Newcastle (A)
        Gameweek 17 Everton (A)
        Gameweek 18 QPR (H)
        Gameweek 19 Tottenham (H)
        Gameweek 20 Aston Villa (A)
        Gameweek 21 Arsenal (H)
        Gameweek 22 Sunderland (A)
        Gameweek 23 Chelsea (H)

The only weeks I would be happy playing him are 18 and possibly 20/22 - which are the DGW and when Howard has WOL.

If I could afford Howard I'd get him, as it I'd have to take a hit on a any keeper, thus I will risk Vorm this week, go for Westwood the week after, then Vorn and, all being well, should have a spare transfer to get Sorensen in until wc

Everton are poor home and away (no offence Big Dunc). Granted Vorm's main points come from home games, but I remember his 10 pts sitting on my bench when he went to Anfield. That is what he is capable of.

In addition Everton are a poor scoring side so I consider gwk 17 a good vorm fixture...same with Villa away gwk 20.

Sometimes with gks you have to just leave it and see what happens. My main rival last year just played Al HAbis in goal from start to finish and easily beat me in gk pts with my rotation of the likes of Bergovic and other good prospects.

Interesting points. I guess as long as he keeps racking up the save points, the cleanies become less vital. My concerns are (1) missing out on lots of Howard/Friedel points if the Swansea bubble bursts and (2) losing lots of value on Schwarzer.

Spurs are not great defensively either. Probably better off just playing Vorm and crossing your fingers.

Howard for the double though sounds like a real plan, especially for those like me with a defence of including the undroppable Verm and Jones who cannot find room for Baines.

You've just about convinced me. Having looked through their history, they haven't kept CS on at least 3 occasions when they 'should' have. Still - if they look good this week, I may bring him in next.

There is always a risk going into a game without a back up goalie. But I think with Vorm I can't see him rotated - whereas I could with someone like Sorenson. Even Friedel could miss a game with the congested fixtures.

I've got Ruddy as back up and just plan to play Vorm no matter what. Save pts, chance of a pen save make Vorm a great prospect. Sometimes a great goalie in a team with bad fixtures can pay dividends. In my first season of this I played James alot of the time. His save pts with the dodgy Portsmouth defence behind him were off the chart.

As you said and as I have up the page...the real pts are not with a goalie. If you are to take a hit and have a plan stick to it as its more likely to invovle players that are going to bring in mega pts.

Stick with just Vorm....but if he becomes an injury doubt at all then draft in a back up...go cheap though.

this week will be a bench mark....I'd wait and see.

This is basically the whole form over fixtures debate.

Also I don;t worry too much about gks....the main pts are elsewhere. I've spent 4 pts this week but involving a quality captain material player who some weeks could get me 30 plus pts. No goalkeeper is going to do that for me.

    Jones ; N Taylor ; Enrique (Kompany ; Brown)
Nani ; Silva ; Bale ; Valencia (Dyer)

I think he's looking better than young... but you never know with SAF... I needed a diferential... and Valencia and Nani on the field already proven (last season) great results...let's hope he keeps them:)

I'd love to captain Baines, but I'm giving it at least 90% that Everton won't get a clean sheet against such an attacking side as Norwich. Norwich didn't score just twice this season; one of these games was at Old Trafford where they were incredibly unlucky.
So, captaining Baines is basically hoping that he'll score this week and I would definitely rate his chances for that lower than, say, Adebayor's, Ba', or Silva's.
If only Everton played Swansea this week and not next, I'd probably go for him.

Looks like we are on same points. I fancy my chances if Liv concede 🙂 Nice team. Not an ordinary team as always, but I am fan of your style. I have 4 big hitters in mid and Utd defense. Your strikers Aguero and Ade are against mine, Ba and Sturridge. I have Silva too. Your team is in serious lack of cash IMO due to the fact you've been patient with your players (Moses/ Sess)

I know the logic with Drethne
      1. Plays great
      2. Comes on as a sub 1 pt that is better than Sess 2pt
      3. Moses comes in, but the value of the free transfer must be considered here, so I wouldn't do it of I were you.

Well I wanted Rodwell this week, but he is not fit. Well keeping Sess all this time, what is one GW plus. And start Moses. I fancy him actually against us. And I am scared of rotation for the Christmas games. Having Drenthe is not helping to that either. I think that you've posted that you'll go with heavy defenders and guys like Walters to avoid rotation. Now changing mind...? Hmmm....

Ah that rotation, I blame Rafa, he invented.
