The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup FFS Cup

This upcoming weekend sees the Paddy Power Cup V enter a manic three-week period, where 128 fantasy managers will be whittled down to a final eight entering the New Year. That’s a long way away though, and those still in the competition will be eager just to see this week’s fixtures – which can be viewed right here

Our last-remaining former-champ, Ninja_fit_saints, will have to overcome a huge gulf in class if he is to avoid going the way of his fellow past winners. His opponent, Mayhey Kid, has over 100 points more than Ninja_fit_saints and will go into the tie as heavy favourite.

Also fancying his chances this week will be Mark, who stands over 50 points ahead of his fourth round competition, Hassyg.

Last week’s top-scorer Cabaroota Beach queens has drawn s4petah, and will be confident on building on his third round momentum and progressing at s4petah’s expense.

If you’re looking for a ‘glamour-tie’ of the round, then EasyLuckyFree versus Der-Hammer95 is surely a contender. Two recognisable names going head-to-head for a place in the last 64.

With just one ‘off-day’ between Gameweek 16 and 17, I’ll endeavour to bring you both the fourth round results and the fifth round fixtures on Monday, but be warned(!)… you may not have much time to scout your opponent should you be fortunate enough to make it through this week. Good luck.

Anybody else think Torres and Malouda will be given a starting place against Wigan? Maybe even Kalou as well?

Strong possibility, Torres needs game time if he is to cover Drogba for ACON, Malouda may come in for either Mata or Sturridge but more likely to come on as a sub for one after 60 mins. Lampard must surely start ahead of Merieles also!

Possibly one of them, wouldn't think he'd go rotation crazy just yet. Most good players in any team probably at moderate or big risk to be subbed early in every gameweek for a while now if their team get a comfortable lead.

Surprised to see Ben Arfa climbing the Watchlist ranks. As I've found to my cost he is far from certain to start. If we didn't have two nice fixtures coming I'd try and get rid.

it's a gamble. Silva may not "explode" but he does get regular points.

having said that, i shipped him to use the cash elsewhere but not before i'd arranged alternative MCI cover.

Looking at the fixtures from mid-january onwards, this game is going to get a lot harder....going to much more picks on form rather than fixtures around that time. Top 6 fixtures:

Man United - arsenal STOKE chelsea LIVERPOO norwich
Arse - MAN UNITED bolton BLACKBURN sunderland TOTTENHAM
Chelsea - norwich swansea MAN UNITED everton BOLTON
Liverpoo - bolton wolves TOTTENHAM man united EVERTON
Man C*ty - TOTTENHAM everton FULHAM aston villa BLACKBURN
Tottenham - man c*ty WIGAN liverpoo NEWCASTLE arsenal

Looks like ditching Spurs and United players will be the consensus unless either is playing amazingly. C*ty, Chelsea's and Arse's are still strong, but you may also want to get rid of Liverpoo's players as well. Adebayor will probably be a season keeper, but still this is quite interesting!

Man United have pretty tough ones.
Arsenal minus the MUN game have easy fixtures (in an attacking sense)
      Chelsea same as Arsenal
Liverpool have 2 tough ones in between some easy ones
      City have nice fixtures
Spurs have a bit of a mixture, but seem pretty tough.

    here's my team http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/27663/history/

    RTaylor - Enrique - Jagielka

    Yaya - Silva - Bale - Larsson - Nani

    Sturridge - RVP - Ba (c)

    a) STICK?

    b) Silva -> Mata
(I would only loose 0.1 on silva and would want to get him back in a couple of weeks if i got rid.. )

    c) Jagielka->Evans
& Yaya -> Mata - (for a four point hit)

    im thinking c)

    what about you?

Could do with some assistance with my team, really happy with my front 7, but need to address my keeper and defense situation.

    Given, Vorm
Jose Enrique, Simpson, Brown, Wilkinson, Taylor (Swansea),
    Silva, Nani, Mata, Bale, (Dyer)
    Ade, RVP, Ba

Got £1.1m in the bank and 2 free transfers.

Obviously Given has to go, but do I go ultra cheap, someone like Ruddy or spend a bit more on Hennesey or Krul?

Then need to upgrade my defense, thinking Wilkinson > Evans.

    Any thoughts?

Secure enough, I think. Begovic playing last nite in Europa has convinced me that Sorensen is first choice. Begovic used to be league GK and Sorensen the Europe GK. That appears to have changed now.

On the topic of budget defenders there's been a lot of talk about Steven Caulker after him coming back from injury. Is he without a doubt the #1 CB at Swansea or could he be rotated during the course of the season?
I've also noticed Stephen Kelly at Fulham who's also at 3.9, has he been injured as well? He's played the whole 90 minutes in his last two PL-matches, and I'm wondering if any Fulham-fans know how is role will be in the upcoming months.

I am not planning on transfering anyone of those two in this week, due to the fact that I'm not attracted by either Swanseas nor Fulhams upcoming fixtures, but if they stay at 3.9 through the holidays (which I highly doubt due to the increase they've had in NTI the last few days) they could save me a few £ at my January WC.

I know Kelly is simply filling in for Grygera while he is injured. As for Caulker he is nailed on, some people were saying he could play for England some day earlier in the season. I haven't watched him yet but have heard he's very talented.

I doubt they'll stay that low but here's to hoping!

Nice to see some cheapos discussion even at this time of the day 😉

Corrigan suggested a rotation of Simpson - Gabbidon - Caulker as the best for the season, if you're looking to play one of them as your 3rd defender every GW.

Suggestion: in the pub watching your team playing, say, Chelsea. Chelsea score and you're all fed up, but then you ask the stranger next to you 'did you see who got the assist?' And you know the rest...

I remember doing something like this back in november. I was on a trip with some friends to Aarhus in Denmark, and we were walking through the streets when we suddenly passed a pub. It was Saturday afternoon and the PL-matches of the day had just started so I said I just had to run in and check the scores. Went asking different people in there who had scored Arsenal's goal and if Rooney was playing on the midfield again.. Got out a few minutes later with mixed emotions as van Persie had in fact scored to my relief, but Rooney was still in midfield..

Haha! And the sad thing is that you know there's no defence to it, all you can say is 'yeah, I know, I'm a loser!'

I was out in Hvar in september watching ManU destroy Bolton, and I was visibly upset. The guy next to me was like 'you a Bolton fan?' God, did I want to say I didn't have any ManU players? No! I just lied and said 'yes'.

I just had a moment of madness. I considered taking RVP out for Ba, giving me a forward line of Rooney Adebayor Ba. Let me outline my thought process:

Arsenal's fixtures are mcy avl WOL QPR ful swa before I WC for GW 22. Only 2 games and I just feel that he will be rested for one of those games. The money I generate will allow me to bulk up my midfield and give me the opportunity to have more depth and therefore when games get called off/rotation happens I will have good options to come in. It's also about time that RVP got an injury lol.

Obviously I won't have the guts to actually do this because I don't think I want to lose the money or risk a 22 point outburst in those two home games but it's just something I thought of.

14 goals and 4 assists in his last 11 games.
There is one tough fixture in that list, and even then Man City haven't kept a clean sheet in 8 games.

Absolutely agree, but when you consider that I'd be going from that to Ba (11goals 2 assists in 10 games and from Brunt/Ramsey (2/3 for ages) to Mata/Nani (a lot better) it sounds better doesn't it?

When you put it that way yes, but if you had Rooney he would be the obvious transfer out as opposed to RVP.

Yeah, I thought that might be better, but I got Rooney in last week because I thought it was time for him to round into form. I just have a feeling that RVP's form might run out over this period. No logic as such, just a feeling.

Ultimately it is your choice so go for it if you want.
RVP's form has been good for about a year now (coinciding his injury-free run) so I think, when fit, RVP should be in everyones team.

Mentioned something similar a couple of days ago. It isn't that daft but then to be fair I thought about this prior to the Chelsea game too and glad I held on. The difference now is the Xmas schedule and it's 90% likely that RVP will miss on of the two games that are two days apart. Add to this Chamakh and Gervinho head off to ACON and Wenger's reluctance to spend should massively reduce pitch time for RVP in the next few weeks. Man City away is a tough game so if you want to do it you need to gamble this week to try to maximise the potential especially as you are considering Ba who has a good fixture (even if it could end up a frustrating 0-0).

Not FF related, but I found this article on todays BBC rumour mill particularly amusing:

'Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has rubbished rumours of David Villa being sold to Liverpool, Chelsea or Aston Villa'

Great players this season but has anyone noticed how Dutch players always seem to do well in the EPL. "Do well" is a bit of an understatement really, a lot of them have been sensationally good. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but just think of the high ratio of success stories for dutch players in England:

    Van Der Sar
    Stam
    Van Nistelrooy
    Overmars
    Van Bronckhorst
    Bergkamp
    Kuyt
    De Jong
    Robben
    Gullit
    Hasselbaink
    Melchiot
    De Jong
    Zenden

I know I am glossing over the likes of Jordi Cruyff and Ryan Babel but generally it's an impressive record.

P.S. United should sign Sneijder. 🙂

Good list that, but it's not exclusive to England. Pick any good league and you can probably make a big list of Dutch players who have done well. They somehow produce a ridiculous amount of good players out of their not huge population, and they also seem to fit in anywhere. On the pitch that is, you can make pretty lengthy list of Dutch players falling out with their clubs, teammates, coaches and fans too 🙂
