Hands up, this ScoutCast is a bit scruffy.

Signed off work and delirious with man flu, we had to coax Granville to keep him from his sick bed. Fortunately, the fact he had a decent Gameweek helped persuade him.

However, he did insist on an early kick-off, with no pre-match warm-up. So Jonty and I were ill-prepared and it also meant that, head frazzled by a Lemsip overdose, Granville forgot to lock his children in the cupboard before we started.

Imagine the horror when they wandered in to hear Granville gloating about Yannick Bolasie.

Of course, you don’t have to imagine – you can join Jonty and myself as we risk contracting Granville’s affliction in order to talk about Fantasy Football for an hour.

Steered by another round of community questions, we also dip into Stoke assets, the captaincy, attacking defenders and, inevitably, with his transfers out stats climbing quicker than Granville’s temperature, we discuss Aguero’s fading star.

If you can bear to brave the chaos of this latest germ-ridden episode, then you can view the Google Hangout version, first published on our YouTube channel, in the second player below.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for news on future live episodes.

You can restrict your sensory experience of Granville’s cold to just audio by clicking here or streaming using the first player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Do you think that Sunderland or Hull is the worst team?

    Plz RMT

    Grant (Foster)

    Smith Cameron Holebas (Kingsley, Mcauley)

    Firmino Coutinho Alli Walcott (Capoue)

    Lukaku Costa Kun(C)

    some question
    1. If it is a good idea to transfer capoue&Kun -> hazard& Benteke and use left budget upgrade some def later.
    2. If stick with a team now, is it worth to cap Kun. My gut tell me like this GW, he have to scores.'

    Thank

I'd give Aguero more time, because poor form is temporary and I'm hoping he could get a brace this GW.

I'd actually stick with your current team this GW and consider captaining Walcott or Lukaku

Stick with Kun, and Don't Captain him.

Alli seems to be the weak point in your team along with your defense..

Alli returns 4 in the last 6 and he's the weak point? On form he's got more points than Coutinho, Mane, Payet, Hazard, Sanchez.

So Kun has dropped then. I'm not saying sellers have necessarily made the wrong decision but those upcoming fixtures surely makes it a tad risky at this stage wouldn't you say? It's a fine line between success and failure I suppose. I'll be hanging on a little longer myself.

Totally agree but they were playing ok at the start of the season. It could flip back to that at any moment. I think there is too much hype about City as though they are in free fall when the reality is they're still top of the league.

I agree, I think the current team style is impacting on Aguero's output. Plus he could do with someone teaching him how to score penalties

He's on 4 yellows too. He's a better candidate once he gets the imminent 1 game ban out of the way.

This is the main problem. I can't afford him to be a one week punt when I've got other things that need sorting too.

If Kun doesn't perform against M'boro at home gw 11, he's out. Gonna give him the armband for that game as well. Hopefully Costa gets his fifth yellow this week to make him the obvious replacement come gw 12 if Kun fails to impress.

They have Hull sandwitched between CHE and LIV. Liv concede goals and after that only difficult fixture is Spurs in week 18. He is a decent long term 4th MID.

Sure, but people's concern based on how he has appeared last three matches. As the saying goes - class is permanent- so he should be able to turn it around

There's no doubt about his class...question is, is he being hampered by the Pep's system which doesn't favour out-an-out forwards?

How can it not favour an out and out striker when he scored 10 in 5 in it when things were going well?

He's not the only one to have slowed down, where has Sterling's hauls gone? How many double digit returns has KDB returned recently? KDB missed a pen, is he next on the out list?

The whole team are feeling it, do you bin them all?

              4.3 points average

To get "always" 15 PPG from here to the end of the season he has to average 18 PPG from now on

That's silly. I don't think many people kept Aguero for those 2 suspended game weeks so there was no real loss of points production.

I wouldn't discard the sub appearance though, for 13m you need to know your player is starting every game.

But if you didn't keep him it cost 2 transfers (an asset) to get him out and back in

All this is nonsense though. Even if captaining Aguero got you "always" 15PPG from now to the end of the season -- without him missing time post-international breaks and other things affecting whether he's worth the $$....if/when he does start firing EVERYONE ELSE CAN JUST GET HIM AGAIN

Are all owners banking on a 5-goal Newcastle-like haul again so non-owner are burned in the one GE they don't have him?

He hasn't played 9 games, he was suspended for 2 and than had the game he was rested for.

39 points in 6 starts is 6.5 PPG, throw in the missed pen and wonder save in the game he was sub for and you're seeing the real potential you're looking to move on.

    Repost from last night-
Sánchez v/s Lukaku. Whom to captain?

    Sánchez
    Pros-
    - More hauls have come away
    - Team in form
    - Better stats in the last few
    Cons-
    - No Cazorla(Rumoured)
    - Early kickoff
    - Might share points with Özil, Theo etc..

    Lukaku
    Pros-
    - Involved in everything Everton do
    - Record against West ham (8 in 10)
    Cons-
    - Everton have scored 3 in 4 games
    - West ham seem stronger defensively after turning to 3 at the back

I always want to fill my team with as many players from from top six teams as possible. It would seem logical as these teams will end up with most goals scored and probably a lot of CS too. There will always be Payets etc but in general do ye try to do same or base selection more on player than the team they are in?

Yeah I think wanting to have players from big teams is similar to wanting the more expensive ones does not mean they are the best.

It makes the most sense to do the 'best team' thing. As they will score the most and concede the least. But you wouldn't always pick Wanyama over Capoue say..
But I've done pretty well over the last few seasons and I've not really used this technique.
I mean in my squad ATM is Burnley, 2xWatford, Swansea, 2xStoke, 2xWBA, CPL...
      Pretty painful to read.

I don't play with that sort of a goal in mind, I just want players on form with good fixtures wherever possible. The 'good fixtures' part does mean I lean towards top teams since its not as if Sunderland are going to ever have great fixtures to make me want Defoe for example.

Do you think Pep can be guilty of over-managing at times? Football is not a complicated game, it seems like he is trying to control too much.

Agüero is a class striker who has proved that year after year. If he turns out to be bench fodder and his goals dry up then something would be seriously wrong.

Alright then. What has he been exposed as? He's been at it with city for just a couple months and I would say overall it's going very well. Made so many changes, asking players to do things they've never done before. You can't expect man city to go from last seasons rabble to perfection that quickly.
Also Barca and Bayern. Not easy at all. The expectations are ridiculous so the pressure is insane. At Barca he was incredible. Bayern was probably a par

Pep has been exposed because City spent hundreds of millions to buy most of the players he wanted, and Pep hasn't won a game in 6 their last games.
And at Barca he had the worlds best players (Messi Puyol Xavi Henry etc) and at Bayern on top of having world class players he was in a pretty weak league besides a few teams. So thats why i think those were easy jobs despite the pressure.

I agree. Watching him develop at Liverpool I thought it's gonna come down to his mentality, emotions and ego. If he wants it he could be one of England's great wingers. Couldn't ask for a better manager to guide him.

The kdb comparison goes without saying. For me he is the best player in the league.

I'm not sure Pep has been exposed but what has been exposed is he will have to manage at 100% or risk going on winless runs.

In Germany and Spain he could probably afford egotripping resting's of his star men because 9 times out of 10 he would still be superior to the rest of the league, not a chance of doing that in England and he's probably realising that now.

Maybe the first 10 games gave him a false sense of security and now he realises that he's going to have to up his game, it's his reputation on the line after all, his star players can all move to other clubs and have success, Pep flopping at City will stick.

I reckon you've misread him a bit. What you see as arrogance I see as a very strong belief in his tactics.
To him it is just a cost/benefit decision. Accept that Barca will outplay you and rely on agueros ability to make goals from nothing, or take your best goalscorer out in order to have more control of the game and take away some of Barcas advantage.
The first method is how everyone approaches Barcelona, hold on for dear life and hope you get lucky.
I think it he was proven right in the game. It worked. Until keeper got red carded and defenders had costly brain farts.
He did it last year too dropping Muller.

Not at all. He is one of the most influential tacticians in the modern game. Llwhich is why he got hired. He redefined what it means to be truly a great team at Barca.
Modern tactical coaches will not carry a player that doesn't suit the role. Why should they? All that matters is how well the player does what you ask of him. Conte and klopp are the same.

Agree that only Pep will know if Aguero is suitable for his system. Looking at Pep's previous teams, Zlatan was one of them. He wasn't suitable for Barca. City have more than just Aguero's goal drought that they need to fix though.

I actually don't think there's much that needs fixing. The one big problem is confidence and morale.
After tottenham loss they played very well against everton but couldn't finish them off. The Barca game was going exactly as pep wanted until the red card.

the aged and bloated materials(especially defence especially FB) at pep's current disposal do not match his tactics or ambitions.
I dont think his public manmanagement of kun(if he goes its because he wants to...)looks good-it would look fine if his objective was to unsettle his striker and alert buyers-this may be his tactic

Very much agree with your assessment. Looking at the articles online and in the papers this week, they have been comparing Pep's previous teams. City is definitely no Barca or Bayern. Bravo is definitely no Neuer, Sagna or Zaba is no Lahm, the list goes on...Do you think Pep will KDB or even Sterling at the false nine for some games?

                  i'm a citeh fan
pep's playing long term and as ruth nz's majestic article pointed out his history suggests he's sceptical of the centre forward per se(obviously asking kun to play further back -he can do this )
false nines is where it is at-KDB is one of the key future pep players.

for fpl imo its very interesting -kun has suddenly become a squad player and not an auto C-players on this site find that worrying.
For me I keep Kun because of his fixtures and because he is a class act who scores in bunches, but once those fixtures go as a squad player he is well overpriced

Will you Captain him while having him in your team or pass it to someone with more favourable fixtures?

Deeney as a differential for me this week -having seen middlesboro this season i dont buy that they are difficult to score against .
pep's kun strategy and the player's response to this remains uncertain -TP will park the buss

its one of the reasons why i sold Kun this week. The money tied up in this uncertainty caused me to invest it elsewhere (e.g. Sanchez). There's a buyback plan for aguero in the pipeline when his confidence picks up.

                        okay good luck with this
I dont have a good feeling about how we have seen pep manage kun(and kun's response to this) -i suspect kun will be away in january for a big figure to somewhere where he is integral and luvved

Yeah for sure but that's nothing new, just takes time to sign players. After a couple years it will be truly peps team.

Yeah you could be right. That's the media driving it though.

from a FPL perspective, it would be worrying. For a 13m player, we expect him to provide regular returns consistently but at the moment, Kun's low on confidence and badly need a goal to restore that. Its also how the team is being set up that hampers his game, IMO.

Walcott has to be in the mix.

He may be wasteful at times but he's been super consistent in helping Arsenal reach the summit so far.

Yea Walcott has been on a whole another level this season. I did not expect that he had that quality in him

Tbf he had this 'quality' prior to a very serious knee injury. With these type of injuries you never know how a player is going to return, or if they'll ever recapture the form they use to have. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, and sometimes it takes a long time like in Walcott's case.

He looks to be back to his best now. He's always been wasteful, even before the injury, but his pace and clever movement always gets him plenty of chances. It's the pace and clever movement that he now has rediscovered post injury.

Captain Simon Francis. Steering Bournemouth and his merry pack of defenders into a top 10 position after 1/4 of the season is completed.

    Pickford/Foster (??)
    Mustafi / Francis / Prodl
    Alexis / Mane / Firmino / Chadli
    Aguero / Benteke / Deeney (c)

Did Antonio > Chadli this week, I'll save my other FT I think. Good to go?

      Ohh, tough one.

Maybe Pieters as he offers the least attacking potential of that lot.

If it helps my back 3 this gw is Smith, Holebas and Pieters and I expect all but maybe Holebas to concede. Likewise I expect LIV to concede hence always play the most attacking options.
