Few players can compare to Sergio Aguero when it comes to punishing Fantasy Football managers.

So we should not be surprised by today’s 16-point haul – an emphatic message to the doubters who questioned his ability to deliver, amidst speculation on his pitch time and relationship with manager Pep Guardiola.

Aguero’s superb brace at the Hawthorns defied our preconceptions that this was a player low on confidence. His second, a sublime long-range curling effort, was typical of Aguero at his best, providing a chilling warning to those who now progress without him.

I’d personally been burned by a spiteful Aguero in the past – a factor which likely saved me from ejecting him prematurely.

Over the past two Gameweeks, almost 100,000 had decided on such a path – this evening they are left pondering the damage of that trade – not just as a result of today’s return, but also the points that could loom ahead of Manchester City’s obliging run of fixtures.

Middlesbrough are next at the Etihad, an opponent that recently proved stubborn at the Emirates and who earned a second successive clean sheet in today’s win over Bournemouth.

Many will now be praying for resistance from Aitor Karanka’s charges; hoping that City and Aguero are left weary by their midweek Champions League date with Barcelona, or even that Guardiola will risk stirring the pot by resting him from League action.

That seems unlikely.

The 4-0 win over West Brom saw City regain their mojo. The City boss will surely look to maintain momentum, with the League table hinting at the most competitive and open title race in memory.

Typically for a season now renowned for fickle fluctuation, in the space of seven days, things have turned on their heads: ignoring Aguero suddenly looks preposterous.

Certainly, there are no clear alternatives.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic again peppered the Old Trafford goal without reward against Burnley. Troy Deeney and Christian Benteke drew their third successive blanks, while Jermain Defoe lived off scraps and mustered a spot-kick in the defeat to Arsenal – his first goal in four outings.

Sunday will see both Romelu Lukaku and Diego Costa take their turn. Aguero already has a stronger points per match ratio than the latter, he’ll also surpass Lukaku should the Everton man dare to blank.

We await Harry Kane’s return and perhaps Arsene Wenger’s intentions with Olivier Giroud but, in all honesty, by the time they have established pitch time and form, Aguero will surely have taken further strides.

For all the funds we can pour into our midfield, there is currently no tu replacement for Aguero in attack and, with the majority of armbands set to head his way in Gameweek 11, we only risk further punishment by overlooking him.

A truly frightening prospect.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

57 points 30k to 17k, 2 to play tomorrow, +3 points to come off Capoue off bench for Wally.

      Happy with that.

Captain fail on Deeney or would be better. Firmino stripping his shirt off for a YC also annoying.

Could be a lot wore though .

Genuine doubt for all the football pundits out there.

What role does Firmino actually play in the team?
A striker or a false nine?

If he is a false nine, his returns would obviously not be consistent.

But if he plays striker, he would become a must have.

    Please help.

Klopp prefers him to Sturridge as he presses the defence. Basically, makes the defence muck up and allows Coutinho to score.

Not sure should I be happy about my small green arrow.

Haven't owned Sanchez this season, captained Firmino this week after doubting Aguero, got Walcott injured this week when needed him the most.

47 points with Allen, Pieters and Costa to go.

I'll be making a defensive move tonight as well to enable Son > Coutinho....very tempted by Cedric and if I knew he was back I'd make the transfer, Lovren other main option, hesitant about bringing in Holebas when he is about to face Liverpool so CS very unlikely. Will bring in after international break.

        Heaton

        Pieters, Smith, Valencia, Amat, Kone

        Walcott, Son, Sanchez, Firminho, Cap

        Aguero, Costa, Deeney

Also contemplating Deeney > Austin for a hit.

    Morning all! 🙂

What a difference a week can make!!

Last weekend I was on here cursing my measly 31pts and rank drop from 9k to 150k in a few weeks.

This morning I'm on 84pts (-8) and have gone from 150k to 31k OR!

Granted the gw's not over, but I still have Allen and Pieters to play, and I'm more chuffed that it feels like for once my -8 hit has paid off with Lovren and Coutinho doing the business!

How's everyone else doing? Some big scores I presume? 🙂

          Thanks.

Yeah not counting to many chickens just yet with some highly owned players left to play, but if someone told me at the start of the gw I could take a -8 hit and stay roughly around the same rank, I would have taken it, so anything's a bonus thereafter.

      72 (-12)

Hits already paid off thanks to Holebas and Coutinho. 🙂

If Lukaku or Redmond score I'll have got more in one week than I got in the last three put together.

      Been a strange month.

There were a few loudmouths on here straight after lockout was over suggesting you had 'flipped' by taking the hits. Well done mate...

While -12 seemed odd, to me it seemed perfectly reasonable with no bench to transfer out 4 non players for 4 good players.

          Dullardinho, not fully maverick 😉

I was in a similar position.

Wasn't overly happy to take the 8pt hit, especially after a horrendous 31pts last gw, however I had Walcott and a bench of Baines, Snodgrass and Amat so I had to make some kind of move to at least get 11 players on the field, and wasn't overly keen on any of the options at 7.9mil or under to do a straight swap for Theo, so decided on transferring Baines to Lovren so I could afford Coutinho.

Could have easily gone the other way, but happy it worked out.

You all wait and see how poor Clatteenbergs decisions were on MOTD tonight, Herrera slips and gets sent off, blatant hand ball and 2 trips in the box.

And dont forget Tom Heaton on drugs...

    Interesting game.

Why they move Deeney assist after deciding to give it him. Because he has low ownership? They are disgusting FPL

      It's a joke really.

They gave Walcott an assist recently when he crossed it, it then deflected off a player and then kosc headed it in.

You are completely correct, they pick and choose and their cldecisions are swayed by higher ownership.

But we are just raging deeney captained who wished we had captained kun or alexis !

That's not correct - Walcott's glancing header for Koscielny's goal was not significantly touched by any player on the way to the scorer. Oxlade-Chamberlain kicked Koscielny's leg into the ball. Believe me, it came under forensic scrutiny as I'm sure did the Deeney assist.

All contentious assist awards are reviewed in the hour after the final whistle of the final match and subject to change.

Opta sometimes award the assist initially but they are flagged as contentious for review later.

Well I hope your right that these decisions are not biased towards players with higher ownership because it did make me question it if I'm honest.

Regardless of it not touching deeney, I was worried that if the same situation happened to Sanchez or aguero then FPL would have awarded it....

I own Deeney, and saw the replays, and the ball clearly did not touch him. It was a short-term tease of a gift for us, yet the correct decision was ultimately made.

Is it warranted to take the -4 for Sterling > coutinho
    given the next 4 fixtures:

MCI: MID - cry - bur - CHE
LIV: WAT - sou - SUN - bou

Think cout will outdo in numbers sterling if taking the -4?
