Turn down the lights and join hands. If we’re actually going to sell a fit Sergio Aguero, we’re doing this together. If we go down, we go down together.

With 31 goals in his last 33 Premier League starts, the fear attached to shedding the Manchester City is so great, we all need support before we can commit to packing his bags.

And so, a pact is drawn up in this week’s ScoutCast, as Granville, Jonty, Andy and myself swear to approach the current dilemma unified and as one.

Let’s see if we can actually go through with it.

Aguero and the Harry Kane alternative dominate much of this week’s discussion.

However, we still find time to sample your Gameweeks in “Rough with the Smooth” and tackle some of your other topics raised, including Gylfi Sigurdsson’s rising star, looming rotation risks, while also offering our views on how struggling managers can find motivation for the rest of the season.

The four of us can certainly offer a wealth of experience on that particular subject.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Manchester City favourite Shaun Goater has noticed a difference in Aguero's overall game that has seen him take a step up and he attributes it to the Guardiola influence.

"Aguero's work-rate is night and day compared to even last season," Goater told Goal.

"For all his great talent, he was not a complete player under Manuel Pellegrini, but Pep has turned him into one now. Pep told him in the summer what was expected of him and he has responded magnificently. He’s now world class and I’m not sure you could say that before.

"Guardiola has urged Aguero to work harder without the ball, whether he is closing down opposition defenders or making better runs off the ball when City are in possession, and he has also told him to “realise his importance to the club."

Aguero's work-rate this season has been terrific for City and he has been in exceptional form after initial concerns over how Guardiola rated the 28-year-old.

Early in the campaign, Guardiola demanded more from the striker and Aguero has responded to his manager's demands brilliantly.

And Goater reckons Guardiola's words have also resulted in a shift in mentality for Aguero on how he approaches the game.

Goater said: "Pep wants his players to be interchangeable and told Aguero that he almost has to add a midfielder’s mentality to his talents. I think the penny has dropped with Aguero.

"It was a huge match for Aguero [against Barcelona] because he is desperate to win the Champions League with City. He admitted he wouldn’t leave until he has done so.

"He didn’t score against Barca, but his performance was outstanding. He left the pitch with a huge smile on his face and I never thought I’d see him do that without getting on the scoresheet.

"As a striker myself, I know how we can be obsessed with scoring goals. After all, it is how we are judged, and that was Aguero’s thinking, too.

"There was always huge pressure on Aguero to score, but Guardiola has freed him up a bit by saying that there is more to your game that just scoring goals."

      Thanks for the read !
This is convincing me to sell.
As pointed out , city want to play Fluid football which means he expects goals from all over the pitch and wants all positions to be involved in most phases of play including transitions off the ball, instead of just asking the forwards to score , the creative ones to assist etc.. KDB s work rate this season for example has been top notch, winning tackles and interceptions, wouldn't have done that under pellegrini .

No doubt in his quality but the truth is Aguero is no more on the last shoulder of every man waiting to pounce like he was in the last 4-5 seasons which might just reduce his output .

He might still score on par with Costa and Kane but it's possible that the consistent explosiveness he had will be reduced .
Still going to get that odd brace and hattrick when it's his day like he did Vs WBA but can't see him scoring braces for fun this season like the previous ones .

Going to be frustrating to know when to captain him for his big hauls when there are so many other players to choose from this season .

This is very informative Moin - thanks. I am giving it a few more games before making a final decision. Somehow it doesn't seem right to get rid of him. The question is whether a beast midfield and other sound forward options outweigh losing Aguero. I guess that this will be a key issue for many in the coming weeks.

I'm still not quite on the same page. I understand what Goater reckons but Aguero doesn't need to be on the shoulder or in the 6 yard box to score, he's deadly from anywhere around the box. or outside of it.

Hi all and good luck in GW 13

Any tweaks to be done here or save my FT? Leaning on Coutinho - C

    1FT and 0.3ITB

    Foster
    Jagielka Walker McAuley
    Capoue Coutinho(v) Hazard Firmino
    Defoe Aguero(c) Lukaku

    Heaton Pieters Collins Allen

    Morning!

    Cech
    Lovren Morgan Holebas
    Sanchez Firmino Coutinho Shaqiri
    Agüero Lukaku Deeney

    Pickford Pieters Amat Carrick

    2 FT 0,3 ITB

How should I improve the team? I'd really like Costa or Kane but that can probably wait until next week.

Would really love Alonso too obviously but that can also wait two weeks.

      Confused.

morgan, shaq, deeney and cech. cech has a great run of fixtres but the elite keepers simply dont return the big points this year. Heaton or foster instead and uprade in other areas like morgan shaq or deeney.

      deeney > Austin
      Cech >foster / heaton

personally id go philips over Capoue. if you must have capoue then id bench him for defoe at least, Liverpool arent solid at the back

Benching Defoe? You may as well just get Anichebe

Thanks both. Yeah, don't know what I was thinking benching Defoe for Capoue.
In defence I did have Fuchs but couldn't afford him in this team so downgraded to Huth. Can't seem to find a better option.

Need £2m, saving FT this weekl Which move(s) for next week?

    A. Aguero > Kane
    B. Lukaku > Defoe
    C. KDB, Lukaku > Kane, Siggy/Pedro
    D. Lukaku, de Roon > Anichebe, Siggy/Pedro

Would lean toward Lukaku > Defoe. Or even Lukaku > Austin, then you get more than 2M.

B, but mainly because I'd want to move money from that front line
      Both solid options
