Two of the lowest scoring teams clash at the Riverside Stadium to create a predictable outcome, as a single set-piece delivery and far post header decide matters. Here’s the Stock Check from Gameweek 14’s final encounter.

On the Rise

Gaston Ramirez
Always the most likely member of Middlesbrough’s midfield to emerge as a potential Fantasy asset, the Uruguayan was their star performer on the night and proved a worthy matchwinner.

Ramirez has now provided two goals and an assist in his last four starts, although ‘Boro’s continued lack of cutting edge remains a major obstacle.

Aitor Karanka’s men have scored just 13 goals in their 14 Premier League matches and will likely continue to rely on defensive stability to earn them points.

While that’s the case, Ramirez seems destined to provide a short-term differential and little more. To compound matters, he appeared to suffer a knock to his foot which saw him withdrawn in the dying stages.

The Middlesbrough Defence
Far more likely to provide with an asset for the remainder of the season, Karanka’s back five earned a fourth clean sheet of the season this evening, albeit against a largely unambitious and impotent Hull City attack.

With George Friend sidelined, skipper Ben Gibson has proved the most popular target in the ‘Boro backline and he justified that tonight by claiming two bonus points taking him to 53 overall. Surprisingly, that’s just 8 points shy of Kyle Walker, the top-ranked Fantasy Premier League defender.

With Southampton and Liverpool up next, we can perhaps wait to invest in Karanka’s rearguard. However, from Gameweek 17, the fixtures fall nicely.

Should Friend, now priced at just 4.4, be fit and available at that point, he could prove to be a key acquisition.

In Decline

Robert Snodgrass
A third consecutive Gameweek without returns has seen the Scot fade as a fourth midfield option.

So integral to Hull City’s attacking potential via his dead-ball delivery, Snodgrass has been unable to shine as others around him struggle.

With just a single goal in their last three and with Hull’s fixture list stiffening over the festive spell, Snodgrass is being swallowed up by alternative midfield options in and around his price point.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Took many hits to make good team without Aguero but now all have that team.
Want to try with 4 premium defenders now and switch from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2.

The points are in midfield mate. Could that change soon, of course, but I don't see it for value.

I would stick with a 3 5 2 for now, and perhaps even stick close enough to a 3 4 3 mate with funds.

That is quite the pickle you have there Ruberx

It has to be Can on the bench i think with Eriksens set piece potential very hard to leave him out against a far from good United team
I would not overlook Austin for a seat with Shane Long back in the mix it could hurt him
I bet you wish there is something to the Costa injury just to make this easy for you?

Cheers Ogie, an injury sure would make things easier but I think benching Austin is out of the question for me. I could also play my AoA chip but I rather take a chance of benching Eriksen, can't see many goals in that match

Will give it more thought throughout the week, i don't mind taking the gamble

Alonso Cedric and Ake all deserve to get in your team for next week that AOA chip should be saved for when you really need it and injury's and suspensions only dictate you have only 2 defenders it happens at some stage in a season normally

No you will have to make the call so at the end of the day Eriksen just has more class just look at his score from this gw

Factors contributing to my rank plummet in the last 4 gws:

Arsenal def over Chelsea one - Arsenal haven't kept a clean sheet in 5 league games now
Selling Sanchez > Hazard in international week : biggest regret of the season so far
Getting Heaton in for Jaku instead of Grant (2 pts versus 17pts in the last 4 weeks)
    Captained Coutinho in GW13.

    Them's the breaks

It's all set to change 🙂

            Yes totally
I think risers early in the season are important to get on board...Lukaku who was scoring consistently went from 9 to 9.9? Costa, Kos has gone from 6 to 6.6 for me etc. I consider those solid additions to the bank
Short term mid season bandwagons, not so convinced

In my case, I have been between 165 - 215k for the 5 last weeks now.

      1. Not owned an Arsenal or Chelsea defender.
      2. Sold Sanchez in GW 11 but didn't get Hazard and still don't own him.
      3. I remember resisting the Heaton rage after the United game. Have had the fairly useless Pickford and wanted to get him out given how Mannone was back, but luckily Moyes retained him as #1.
      4. Never owned Coutinho all season, but captained Firmino. That didn't work out too well either.

I'd love to jump on Payet for that run, Burnley, Hull, Swansea and Leicester are lovely fixtures for a team that's not in the form of West Ham.

No need to lose Austin now, if you bought him you probably had this run up to GW26 in mind, seems a bit knee jerky to get rid of him right at the start of it having kept him for more challenging games.

    Evening chaps.

Iheanacho, is he a viable Aguero replacement? I had him for a GW earlier in the season and he did very well. Great stats too for the minutes he's had!

Fair evaluation. I need a 9.7m forward to replace Aguero so I can fund Wally to Sanchez. Who would you suggest. They would form a trio with Kane and Austin

Plenty of options doing well like Defoe and Benteke. Might lose Austin soon if he doesn't perform.

Holebas owners - will you be playing him at the weekend? Everton are in a clear dip of form (as is Lukaku) and Bolasie being out won't help matters.

Does he have another week in him or will you sell/bench him regardless?

What's best option for Lukaku and Bolasie
    A) Kane and kightly
    or
    B) Anichebe and Hazard

I need to move quickly as prices going up and no cash in bank..

I like spurs fixtures and everyone in my league has Aguero so they will put in Kane. However option B gives me strength in choice...

    Foster/Heaton
    Williams/Lovren/chambers/Evans/Pieters

Guys, need your help! 0 FT, 4.5 itb
Which position is worth a hit right now?

    Foster (Pick)
Walker - Evans - Holebas (Smith, Kingsley)
Firm - Wally - Hazard - Allen (Capoue)
    Kane - Costa - Austin.

I know too many issues, but what would you do first?
    A) -4 Allen to Sigurdsson
    B) -4 Allen to Mane
    C) -4 Wally to Sanchez
    D) -4 Holebas to Alonso
    E) No hit
    F) Your suggestion.

I like D for this week. Might be a case where the never a hit for a defender does not apply imo. You have about 3 mil to see what you want to do for GW 16
Allen to Eriksson might still just be possible for GW16 on budget - not sure.

Want to hold FT for GW16
If Heaton and Coleman are ok then gtg? 8 nice home fixtures in there and the 3 away don't look bad either.

    Heaton Jaku
    Alonso Cedric Coleman (Amat Lenihan)
    Sanchez Hazard KDB Firmino Walcott
    Defoe Austin (Diomande)

GW 16 Rose for Coleman and probably Eriksson for Walcott. Jaku to Randolph and Lenihan upgrade can wait.

Yeah been thinking this option too. What would your preference be
KDB + Diomande to Kane and mid fodder and going 343
Or Austin + KDB to Kane and about 6.5 mid and keeping 352

    should i do either?

    Foster
    Azpili/hole/amat
    sanchez/capoune/kdb/Gundo

    Pickford

    Mustafi. Amat. Holebas

    Benteke. Kun*. Kane

Subs Pickford. De Roon Pieters McAuley

Something like Kun to Defoe or even Austin
      Then Zaha to Hazard.
If Austin then you would have some cash for defence upgrades down the line.
